I generally find fast food chains disgusting, and I'm likely to take my money and caloric limits elsewhere. Culver's, however, is the pride of the Midwest (in the fast food world). During the pandemic, places that offered drive-thru began going to the top of my list. This location, in beautiful Lawrence, has excellent service. For a staff largely made up of teenagers and younger adults, it operates with the efficiency of a lower-end Swiss watch (think Tissot rather than Patek Philippe). Despite very long lines, the customer can have his or her meal in under 15 minutes. The staff is polite, helpful, and relatively professional. Pandemic or no pandemic, the food is tasty. I'm particularly fond of their "North Atlantic Cod Dinner," which is a fancy way of saying "fish 'n chips." While their fried tenderloin does not rival those served in Hoosier mom-and- pop joints, it's A-OK for fast food. Be sure to top any meal off with a Concrete Mixer, even in the winter. read more

If it wasn't for the cheese curds, I probably wouldn't even bother. I live in Lawrence, but would rather drive to the new McCordsville Culver's because (since they're new) they still care about their service and their food. All I ordered was a small cheese curd and a medium chocolate shake. This location is notorious for handing people their ice cream orders and then parking them for 20 minutes to wait for their hot food. By the time your hot food comes out your ice cream is completely melted. It makes no sense! They basically took the time to put the ice cream and the syrup in the cup, but as you can see from the pictures, they didn't even mix the shake together. And by the time I was able to mix it together with my straw, while I waited for the curds, you can see that the cup was only 3/4 of the way full. As you can see, it's been a minute since I've been to Culver's. I feel nauseous.. I went here after work tonight at 5:30. I was starved. I'll be returning the salad to Culver's on Post Road tomorrow. I have the salad and the receipt in the car. I threw the fish sandwich in the garbage after two bites because she mushy sat there all day soggy mac & cheese. I ate some of it. It wasn't good. I was starved that's what happens. You know what they say. You don't go to the restaurant or to the grocery store starving should've waited till I had got home. I'm sure I could've whipped up something much better so you live and learn and they failed again. I understand what the white stuff is on cheese but when you're buying something fresh not aging. It means that cheese is aging. It's not as fresh as it was. It's OK for me at my house, but I don't want it when I'm eating out. I won't be returning.. What I love about this location is that it is right next to Fort Harrison State park--what a great reason to go outside, take a walk, and then follow it up with frozen custard. This location always has friendly and warm staff. If you are coming around "normal" eating times--expect a full parking lot. As a vegetarian, I always opt for the Kid's Grilled Cheese pack. It comes with fries and custard! Likewise, you can upgrade your kids meal to get cheese curds instead of fries. The reason this location is shy of the last star is because we ordered two single scoops of custard. One was the normal size, and one was the smallest scoop of my life. I love Culver's turtle sundae. Which is the reason I stopped by the location near Ft. Harrison. Now normally I just order and wait at the window because it usually doesn't take long for them to prepare ice cream. This particular day I ordered, showed my military ID to receive a 10% discount but then they handed me a number and told me to wait on the right. I was thinking "well this is a first". After about 15 minutes they finally walk over to my car to deliver my little dish of turtle ice cream. The one scoop turtle sundae was delish as always. I wasn't planning on updating my Culver's review this afternoon. After all, Culver's is a longtime favorite spot of mine after I got to know the crew not long after the Wisconsin-based chain arrived in Indianapolis and my mother worked for the wholesaler who sold the area restaurants their food. My mother has since retired and, in fact it seems like quite a few of the originals from Culver's have moved on. As a chain, they have pretty strict requirements of their franchise owners in terms of how many hours they must actually be in their restaurants. You don't tend to get long-distance ownership with Culver's, because they require their franchisees to actually work in the restaurants to maintain both quality and that sense of family. With another snowstorm on the way this evening, I thought I'd take the opportunity to head out for a casual bite to eat that would allow me to rest and do some reading. I arrived at Culver's and immediately noticed that their renovation was still ongoing. With their familiar blue-and-white decor gone in favor of a warmer color palette, Culver's was clearly trying to move away from a fast food look in favor of a more social and relaxing environment with more woods and a darker color scheme. They'd added a 1/2 wall divider on one side of the restaurant and this wall included a handful of two-person booths. Additionally, the tables were now largely four-tops with the familiar booths surrounding the outer wall of the restaurant. You could see where they'd added stone to one inner wall and were working on adding it to another wall that was divided off for safety. I also noticed that the prices had slightly increased, with my chicken tender value basket (including fries and drink) priced at $7.99. It's not a bad deal, but it's definitely on the outer fringes of what I want to pay at what amounts to a weird mix of fast food and fast casual. The real reason that I'm dropping Culver's a star is, quite simply, because in the process of "improving" their restaurant they've made it FAR less wheelchair friendly and they've stacked the tables in so tightly that it's a little bit overwhelming. There are now only a handful of tables that are truly wheelchair friendly. In my usual spot at the end of an aisle, I'm now sitting with my back to an aquarium and I spent my entire meal being bumped and jostled by those trying to look at the aquarium. Not only is it uncomfortable, it's an accident waiting to happen. The tables are so close together that a wheelchair can only possibly go on the outside, but if you go too far into the restaurant you run into the possibility of getting blocked in should someone use a high-chair for baby or merely have a large party. In other words, it's an absolutely dreadful design and a definite step backward for a chain that prides itself on service and hospitality. While I'm at it, I've got to bring this up. As an adult with a disability, it excites me to no end to see a restaurant hire someone with a disability to work in the restaurant whether that be serving, clean-up, dishes, or whatever. However, in this case Culver's has set this young man up to fail miserably. This man, who appeared to have some level of intellectual disability, had clearly been hired to bus tables and wash them. Nothing else. The problem with this is when he's the only person working the floor and he gets questions from customers that he not only can't answer but he obviously couldn't understand. I watched on two occasions where he was asked questions and he obviously could not comprehend the questions being asked - the customers, once they understood, were understanding but not before they'd gotten frustrated over having to ask the same question repeatedly. In the wrong situation, that sets this young man up for massive failure and a potential customer service issue. So, while I've long been a fan of Culver's I have no choice but to drop their grade due to a re-design that makes life harder for those with disabilities, an environment that is busy and uncomfortable, and the other "intangibles" that truly make me wonder if I'll spend the extra cash to go back. read more

All I'm going to say is check your bag before you leave...my friends and I ordered $30 bucks of food, got back to the house, one of the orders was wrong, probably because the lady taking the order thru the drive thru wouldn't really let me finish the order before asking "anything else?" I've never been to a Culver's where you get 2 meals and only ask for 2 sauces but get an extra sauce charge... that's ridiculous. We also had to ask 3 times for our lemon cooler to be brought out. Took a group of seniors out for lunch the service was great, the food was great and the customer service was wonderful and friendly. They was even very very busy and the staff was super. Their food has been good, too, until tonight when I ordered mashed potatoes and gravy and a side of green beans. The potatoes were cold in the middle, which the server quickly made right. However both sides were completely tasteless. I mean absolutely no taste or seasonings whatsoever. I guess this would be a plus if I was on a restricted diet, but Im not (hence the multiple floats). my family and I LOVE Culvers restaurant but this is a very disappointing location. their flavor of the day is always made incorrectly (according to what the website says the flavor includes). they are always out of novelty chocolate. the salads are brown and seem like they were made over a week ago. food takes forever in the drive-thru but comes out cold. staff always acts very annoyed, even mad, if you have any questions or concerns (they talk to customers like they're dumb). overall, save yourself the disappointment and visit a different Culvers location or go to the nearby Dairy Queen. read more

Every time I come to this location my order is COMPLETELY WRONG! From the long lines, and the workers asking me "anything else?" when i'm not finished giving my order, to me sitting and waiting for food that's wrong and having to wait LONGER for my food to be slowly marched out.
