Gluten free double butter burger and regular fry
    Jessica H.

We came here for a school spirit night. Super nice that they give 20% to the PTA. Some of the tables were dirty and we've been here an hour and they're still dirty. I got a gluten free double butter burger and they got my toppings wrong. I informed them and they quickly fixed it which was nice. The cheese is slapped on the burger cold which is weird and not tasty. I very much appreciate the gluten free bun but it was disintegrating before my eyes- like, immediately upon opening it. So crumbly I couldn't even pick it up- had to use a fork and knife. If I come back, this is my note to self to just get the patties without a bun. The fries are also flavorless. My kids both said the burgers were average too. The custard is really good though! If you fill out their company's satisfaction survey, you get a free scoop!!

The double butter burger was so juicy and buttery!! And the cheese curds were so cheesy! Over all it was all pretty scrumptious. The guy who gave me the food had some attitude but that's okay hope his day turns around!

I got the spicy chicken sandwich and this is what I got, it looks like they literally threw it in the box, are you kidding me? They even forgot my top bun !!?? I also got my fiancée the chicken tenders and they tasted like a hint of fish... I know this place has a lot of young kids working there but the management needs to keep a better eye on their staff and the food being sent out. This is very disappointing and absolutely disgusting.

Not too impressed. New location, needs more training. Smashed buns, meat not stacked on the bun.

The food is alright nothing too special and I wouldn't go just for the food but the ice cream hits the spot. I always ask for a side of peanut butter or caramel sauce. They dump little bits over your ice cream.

Ok, I don't know how many locations in SLC Leatherby's has (there are only 2 listed on their…read morewebsite), but I have yet to have a negative experience at all three that I've visited (Taylorvile, Draper and Midvale). We decided to take our twin daughters to have an afternoon snack after arriving in SLC after a two week camper van (RV) adventure to Glacier, Boise, Shoshone, and Yellowstone national parks. On a hot summer day, ice cream was definitely on the "must have" snack list, and Leatherby's was our first (and only) choice. Please refer to my two other Leatherby's reviews and you can simply copy and paste my opinion of their ice cream creations. This particular location has the added Mexican food option on their menu (tamales and ice cream seem an odd combo to me, but, hey, it seems to work here). This location, also, has absolutely NO PARKING - except the few street spots that you may come upon if you're lucky. Sadly, minus one star for being a pain to park. The staff were super fantastic, attentive, friendly and generally excellent. Small (but cozy) shop. The location, however, seemingly dictates the severe space limitation. Almost empty when we were there, but that might be because we visited quite early (about 4p or so). The ice cream scoop sizes were ENORMOUS!!! I might avoid this location after dark, but otherwise if you're early you'll have the whole joint to yourself.

In this case, I think it is for the better, as you can have ice cream delivered straight to your door! A month or so back I placed an online order right around their same-day cut off time of 4pm. I was so impressed when a bagful of ice cream was dropped off at my door within less than an hour! We enjoyed the following: Rocky Road features a mild chocolate base and small bits of nuts, but I never found even ONE teeny marshmallow in the whole quart (I just looked up the description to make sure I wasn't mistaken and it definitely mentions those squishy white delights!). Fresh Peach Gelato boasts local peaches from Kuwahara. Tangy, but just-sweet enough. Not quite as creamy as others, but that is par for the course with most fruit based ice creams. Oreo has mostly fine Oreo pieces, but a lot. If you had asked me, I'd have guessed my preference would be larger chunks, but I'd be wrong. This is delightful! New York Wildberry Cheesecake gelato has a great, natural cheesecake flavor. The swirls of berry are rather sweet, but tempered by the tangy base. Chocolate Dipped Strawberry was a surprising household favorite with it's uber creamy pretty-pink base and stracciatella style dark chocolate. They offer a variety of flavors, with some seasonal. All gelatos were a bit harder than ice creams, which is no surprise given they have less cream/fat in them. I am sure if left at room temperature for five or ten minutes (as you are supposed to do for all frozen treats), they would be perfect consistency, but I never have the restraint to wait that long. We bought everything in pint ($5.50) or quart size ($7.50), but you know those long rectangular containers seen at gelateria's? YOU CAN BUY A WHOLE ONE FROM BON BON ($30)! Can you imagine how perfect that would be for a party? There is a $30 minimum, which is extraordinarily easy to meet, and a $5 delivery charge. Go support this wonderful local business crafting such delicious treats!

It's rich, creamy, ridiculously good, and absolutely worth the stop. And the Concrete? GET THE CONCRETE. Thick, loaded with whatever mix-ins make you happy, and somehow every bite reminds you why frozen custard is in an entirely different category from ordinary ice cream. If you're anywhere near Nielsen's, do yourself--and your taste buds--a favor and stop. Don't drive past. Don't tell yourself you'll get it next time. Pull in, order a Concrete, and enjoy your life choices. Five stars. Fantastic custard. Happy taste buds. ZERO regrets!

Come for the Custard, Skip the fries If you've never had…read morefrozen custard, let me set the stage. It's similar to ice cream but denser and richer because it's churned in a special machine that incorporates significantly less air. It also must contain egg yolks, which many ice creams skip entirely. The result is a smoother, more indulgent texture that's in a category of its own. Nielsen's leans into that heritage with a menu that covers concretes, mix-ins, floats, sundaes, multiple sizes, and a full food menu straight out of a 1950s cafeteria. Nostalgic, ambitious, and a lot to choose from. I visited the South Jordan location and have to be honest about the full experience. The tables were dirty, the staff (mostly teenagers) were focused on the counter and not on cleaning, and the wait was long enough that I nearly walked out. The double burger was unremarkable, the fries came out unsalted, but the corn dog was surprisingly good. None of that is why you're here, though. The cherry almond concrete is why you're here. It is outstanding! Generous almond pieces throughout, and the cherry flavor tasted genuinely real, not like something from a syrup bottle. I've had frozen custard all over, and this is legitimately my favorite. My advice: skip the food, go straight for the custard. Nielsen's earns every star on that alone.
