While we were looking for something to go, I got the feeling some folks sit here for hours. Something about the unique space had me craving a unique drink - not my usual black coffee. Their house made cherry cola espresso piqued my curiosity. It tasted just like it sounds - a double shot of slightly bitter espresso mixed with not-too-sweet carbonated cola. It felt like the person in charge of directing traffic (and there was a young man in charge of this!) should have been enforcing the spot, the printed menus should be moved to this spot instead of on a post in the middle of the "food carrying zone," and that person should also point patrons in the direction of the many specials boards. As they dubbed themselves, "Sandwich's sandwichery," I ordered the Mother Hen sandwich- I was drawn to the avocado and bacon. It was served on a ciabatta style roll and was very tasty. I ordered my sandwich "light on the herb mayo" as I'm not always a mayo gal. It could have used more. I was also tempted by the GIANT pastries they had on display but didn't want to go overboard on day one of vacation. As we sat waiting for our food, we saw lots of people coming in for take out as well as ordering to eat-in. Families, large groups, couples, and solo diners all seemed accommodated. Although she was new, she was incredibly sweet and attentive. My wife ordered the banana foster French toast, which she raved about so much that I had to try it--and it was incredible! I chose the biscuits and gravy, and the biscuit was so soft. The gravy had the perfect mix of pepper and sausage, making it fantastic. My daughter had a little bit of everything, and the portion sizes were so generous that the two perfectly fluffy pancakes went home with her for breakfast tomorrow.
