Recently re-opened under new ownership and WOW! It's long been our neighborhood store for sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and random grocery emergencies. So excited to see the transformation that somehow all the new construction feels more like going back in time, and like it's always been there! The addition of tables to gather at, cozy couches and corners and beautiful bathrooms really invite people to come spend time rather than just grabbing something on the way by. They're still growing their grocery and gifts selection but have great books, toys and penny candy for kids, plus great books, thank you cards, clam rakes, local make scarves and pottery. Theyre had some local fresh cranberries for sale by the scoop and the pastry case is always full of treats. Theyre still growing do beer and wine and coffee (recently added espresso I haven't tried it yet I'm an iced latte girlie so I'll have to wait for that! We are absolutely enthrallllled with the sandwiches though. The bacon egg and cheese with pimento is something I would never ordinarily try but wow! Even my four year old loves them. My husband is hooked on the turkey, daughter loves the grilled cheese (prob best I've ever had ) and I am stuck on the roast beef on a toasty onion roll with some killer horseradish sauce. We ordered two sandwiches that were absolutely delicious! The Rachael was perfect. Delicious grilled rye bread, amazing turkey and the Russian dressing was just enough! The other was Roast Beef on a great onion roll with Swiss and horseradish sauce, wow! The store decor and cafe is great, warm and inviting. With a large cafe inside and out door seating. All three. Food. Service. Ambiance. The crunchy salad with lemon vinaigrette was outstanding. Shaved cabbage, radishes, mint, cilantro, and peanuts, can be topped with chicken. The Reuben was grilled to perfection. We also grabbed a tiny Italian from the cooler. It was not tiny! The pickled onions were delicious. The bottom portion of the roll did get a bit soggy, but it added to the overall balance. The wait for non ready made sandwiches takes awhile, but grab a newspaper and enjoy the atmosphere. Hidden gem. Food, location.., everything is great. Staff is wonderful as well as cyrus the owner. Interacts with the patrons, knows your names and is willing to take suggestions. Keeps it as a historic locals spotl with a bit of conveniebn convenience thrown it. I go there have a cup of great coffee. Talked to the owner and staff and have a lovely time drinking my coffee and enjoying the ambiance. No bright led lighting just a quiet elegance. Best place to happen to us in a long time. Cyrus took care to make sure you have an enjoyable visit if you have a cup of coffee or if you have a large order. I very comfortable going by myself or bringing a guest. I eat lunch here twice a week. They make excellent Sandwiches - made to order sandwiches or from a list of standard sandwiches. All Sandwiches are $9.50. They usually have two soups (or a chili). The buffalo mac & cheese is great. All the usual chips, sodas, and other drinks you would expect at a village store. There are some picnic tables outside, but mostly take-out. They serve breakfast and lunch. You order at the counter and pay at the register. They make a good breakfast sandwich -- English muffin, egg, cheese, and bacon. Basic coffee -- no cappuccino or specialty drinks. Friendly service. Lots of easy parking. Also serves as the Village convenience store for basic items. Excellent observance of COVID-19 protocols. read more

I LUV this place! Whenever I am in the area, I always stop by & order a sandwich from their Deli Counter. The sandwiches are ALWAYS FRESH FRESH FRESH! Shocked at the blatant racist profiling I was subjected to by the man taking the sub orders. I grew up in Barnstable and have visited this store for years but this was my first time back in a few months and 9 times out of 10, customers pick up their order from the deli and THEN turn around and pay at the counter right by the door. However, the guy who took my order held on to my sub while asking, "Did you pay already?" and wouldn't let go until I said yes! Thankfully I had already paid or it definitely would've gotten more awkward but it was amazing to have watched him smilingly hand over the previous sandwich NO QUESTIONS ASKED to the older, caucasian woman in front of me! (Who hadn't prepaid btw..) I had two children with me which makes "running" a laughable conclusion AND the person at the checkout counter is more than capable of verifying payment with customers before they walk out. Very offended and disappointed and obviously will never be returning. read more

The sandwiches here are first rate. They could easily charge twice their price in any major metro area. I actually got breakfast sandwiches here very early and they were so good I came back for lunch. Their Italian sub is incredible. They will customize any sandwich as well. It is unfortunate to have to write this review about a local store/deli as I try hard to support local small businesses. I also understand being short staffed during COVID or for any reason. However, being short staffed does not give a person the permission to be flat out rude, dismissive and disrespectful. I have been stopping by this establishment for several years and while the sandwiches are good, the past year I have called in my order to not have to wait. Many times the sandwich is either missing items, slathered in so much mayo I have had to throw it away or with items such as today that I did not order. I have called just one time other than today to make the establishment aware, not even to complain and was hung up on. I am allergic to tomatoes and asked for pickles and lettuce. My sandwich had tomatoes on it which could create an emergency situation for me. I called to bring this to the attention of management. The owner got on the phone and I attempted to nicely describe what had happened and the potential serious outcome of serving a customer something they are allergic to. The owner proceeded to say "Why don't you go to Hyannis, it's much nicer there." He then hung up on me, I called back and said "Did you just hang up on me?" and he said "Yes, I did we are understaffed." "If you don't like it here go someplace else." I attempted to try to explain my allergy to him and he proceeded to hang up on me again. This store/deli was just in the local newspaper being promoted as reopening after struggling and having to close. I said how great it was that they were open again today as I paid for my things. However, if this is the response customers receive when they are trying to explain the seriousness of giving someone a food they are allergic to, well with this attitude towards the public they won't be open for long. Word travels fast on small little Cape Cod so good luck with your nasty, miserable attitude and I hope you don't get yourself into legal troubles when someone has an allergic reaction due to your negligence. read more

I come here every day and I am never disappointed. Staff are extremely friendly, store in comfortable, many items you don't find everywhere, and of course the food is delicious.
