I stopped in here for lunch by myself on the day before thanksgiving. I was the only one eating in the dining room and I received excellent service. I was served papad with three sauces while I decided what to order. I love papad! It was fresh and crispy and the sauces tasted good, but they're not my favorite. I prefer to eat papad plain. I ordered the dal palak and it was delicious. It was served with fluffy jasmine rice. I also ordered garlic naan which arrived hot and was perfectly garlicky. All of the servers here had exquisite manners. They were friendly and respectful. There was plenty of food... in fact much more than I could eat in one meal. My server packaged up the leftovers nicely and I was on my way. I will be sure to eat here next time I'm in the area!

A quiet relaxing lunch spot! There is good parking, and easy to walk/roll into the restaurant. The inside decor is simple and cultural. The booths are cozy with big windows are great for conversation. A few pictures with classy tables. We ordered the potato chickpea appetizer, garlic and cumin naan. We had eggplant and spicy cauliflower main dishes, served with basmati rice.

We consistently order from cumin and we have never had a bad meal! All of their dishes are full of flavor and travel well for delivery. We are happy to still be enjoying Cumin!

We had a craving for Indian post our bike ride and what a find! This place is a gem. The goat curry was full of spices and the butter chicken is one of the best I've had and in CT! Definitely will be returning again the next time we are in the area. Service was so nice and sweet. Great service and huge portions!

This is a great restaurant that I haven't frequented in a while. I should go here more often. The portions are large (we had a lot to take home) and the quality is good. How refreshing to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine that is carefully prepared so that every dish carries its own unique flavor. The service was prompt and our server was personable and helpful. The dining room has a comfortable feel to it; the booths are roomy and the lighting is just right, neither too bright nor too dark. I felt I could eat in a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming here again to sample more dishes and enjoy the ambiance.

    Vegetable Haka Noodles

I go here every so often because the food is tasty and healthy. This time I got their veggie haka noodles and chana masala. The noodles are well seasoned and the veggies are fresh and have a nice crunch to them. The chana masala is simple and healthy and the tomato sauce is very nice. I recommend that you add the included onion chutney to this dish because it enhances the flavor well. Very good Indian food overall.

Not only was the food delicious but authentic. Best Indian food in New Haven county!!! Our server was so nice and considerate, cute little spot and a very good find.

Cumin India was a delightful experience with delicious food, authentic cuisine, and responsive staff. We enjoyed a large variety of different options both vegetarian and meat based to sample their offerings. Crispy kabobs, tandoor tantras and naan that will leave you fulfilled with joy-- Cumin India will transport your tastebuds and leave you with leftovers to enjoy.

When I am working in Hamden and looking for Indian food, this is my go to, for two reasons. First, I'm pretty sure it is the only Indian restaurant in Hamden, and the food it good. I have never eaten in, but I always pick up. The inside could use some updating or remodeling; not to say that it is falling apart, it is dated and a little dark. It is built into what I think was an old IHOP so the building is oddly shaped, but you cant miss it with its big blue roof. Any person I have ever gotten at the front desk has always been prompt and friendly and 99% of the time the food is ready when they say it will be. The food is fairly priced and the menu is large enough for the picky eaters and there are items that are available that are not on the menu if you ask for them. I really like Paneer Pakora which is not on their menu but they will make it if you ask. The food is always flavorful and well spiced. The portion sizes are spot on and are as expected. I almost feel bad giving only 3 stars but I have never been "wowed". The food is good, solid Indian food, but nothing I haven't seen before or so mind-blowingly amazing I would have to have it every day. I am no expert on Indian food by any means. It is good and as expected, some updating or one or two exception items on the menu would probably bump it up to 4 stars. You will get a good, tasty, Indian meal at a fair price. I visit a few times a month and I am always pleased.

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

An influencer on instagram posted here and said it was…read morerecently renovated with cool decor and I thought she posted that they had these funky looking Indian "pizzas." I'm sure it looks better at night, for it wasn't anything special during the day. The velvet couch we sat on was nice though. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until about 15 minutes prior to lunch service being over. Hours posted for lunch were until 3:00, however upon arriving there was a sign on the door saying they stop serving lunch at either 2:30 or 2:45 (don't remember as again this was mid October). We felt bad walking in there because there was only maybe 1 or 2 other tables in there still, however they said we were welcome to sit and have lunch. We said we'd be quick. We really shouldn't have done this because it was clear they wanted us out quickly. The menu was a bit confusing. "Choose one protein, one sauce, and one bread OR vegetarian dish and a bread (Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, Tandoori roti)." Ok? We ended up splitting a Chicken Tikka masala and the cucumber appetizer (don't remember what it was called). He forgot to bring the cucumber app until we were done with the entree and we didn't realize it was a dip. We ended up taking that home. The last ten minutes of us eating our waiter was staring at us and clearly wanted us to wrap up. Again, I wouldn't come here close to 3:00 for lunch. That was a mistake. As far as the food, the Tikka masala could have used a tad more flavor (we asked for it mild but could have bumped that up a bit) and I didn't care for the cucumber appetizer. It was minty? and spicy. Overall I feel that House of Naan is better for New Haven Indian cuisine.

You walk in and you're immediately met with the smell of delicious cooking that will instantly get you excited for the meal that's about to come. I decided to have a strawberry lassi because I've never had one before, I normally always get a mango one, and I'm glad I did because it was delish! We kicked off with the lamb samosas and veggie platter and WOW what FLAVORS. Each bite was an experience, and so so tasty. My friend got the chicken biryani and I went with the chicken tikka masala and can I just say how impressed I was that our food stayed warm the whole entire time? Like it was still steaming as we packed it away, I was so impressed with that because there's nothing I hate more than lukewarm food being brought out to me. Regardless of that, my masala was incredible and I was sad I had to stop myself so I could save room for dessert. Because then I filled up on basically all of the cheese naan and it is some of the best I have ever had and if you're visiting New Haven and want authentic Indian food, this is the place to go.

It was a bit difficult to get into because parking there was weird. I ate inside alone. The host was a bit brash but he was also talking to the uniform guy so I ignored it. The restaurant was empty. Then again it was good Friday. I got served this flatbread with chimichurri sauce, this tamarind one that got me hooked and some chopped pepper. The server arrived within 5 minutes and I was ready to order. I ordered the signature darbar pizza which had lamb, shrimp and chicken with curry sauce and a naan cheese flatbread which was basically another pizza lol. There was a TV playing bollywood shows and music. The food took a little bit but by the time it arrived I was ready to go to town. The pizza was amazing, especially with the tamarind sauce. The curry wasn't too overpowering and the crust was thin. So think new haven pizza with an Indian twist... that isn't trying too hard like Bobbi's. The flatbread was good but i soon regretted it as I had an appointment afterwards! The server was very kind and there in also a koi fish tank that another employee was tending to. 4 stars, because the darbar pizza, flatbread and a soda was a whopping $51 before tip. So i probably won't go out of my way from Danbury to grab this. However if I was close by, this would be a once in awhile treat.
