I went to see Dr. Cummins back in 2014. I had a pre-existing back injury that I sustained from Airborne operations in the Army. Basically I had a bad jump, I was 50-70feet off the ground and wind shifted 180 degrees and slammed me into the ground. I've had many problems since then due to this injury. Herniated disc, deteriorated disc, bludging discs, and pinched nerves. I have stenosis in my L1-S5 now and found out from the x-rays that my spine was actually fractured. Something the Army completely missed, honestly that doesn't surprise me. The Army pumped me full of percocet, vicodin, and then norco moving to stronger pain killers as they sent me to Afghanistan. Needless to say the Army and the VA were terrible avenues to go to help heal my back. The only beneficial treatment I received at the VA was acupuncture here at Seattle, VA but its limited to like 6 or 12 treatments a year. I found Dr. Cummins through a friend from church and it was at a particularly bad time when I had a major flare up so bad to the point that I could hardly manage to crawl on all fours to the bathroom. I was in a really really bad way, ended up in ER twice within a couple weeks where they gave me a shot of torodol and sent me on my way. I refuse to take pain killers anymore, so I needed something better. When I went to Dr. Cummins he took x-rays, has this device that scans the muscles in my back and tells what temperatures they are, and where the stress is built up, also shows the alignment of the spine. From there he put me on a traction table that gently stretched out my lower back to help the spine regain space between the discs and to get everything headed back on the right track, after traction for about 20 minutes he checked out my movement and then adjusted my back, I got some supplements to help my discs. Now keep in mind I was barely walking when I came in, I went in 5 times a week for 4 weeks all while in school for HVAC Service Technician and by the end of the 1st week I felt like I could go run 16 miles like I used to, but I knew just because I felt better didn't mean I actually was. The pain in my left leg was completely gone by middle of week 2 and I can't tell you how great it felt to be able to move around again, the quality of life was back by week 4 and I only came in once a week. Once I started working I wasn't able to make it in to see him from working crazy overtime and my back progressively got worse. I went back to see him recently and got back on track. I go in every 2 weeks now for an adjustment and I'm able to move around and do the things I need to. Right now we are doing a different kind of traction which will set my backs curvature to the correct line and curve and my posture will be back to where it would be when I was healthy. I really can't give enough thanks to Dr. Cummins, his skill and attentiveness and also his caring for me personally and getting to know me I can safely say he is not only a good doctor, but has become my friend and someone I truly trust along the way. If you have back pain, don't keep dealing with it, physical therapy doesn't really work by itself because they don't do adjustments to help re align everything. Stop wasting time and your life and go see Dr. Rob. Once you go you'll ask why you took so long to get here in the first place. I referred my neighbor who had a pinched nerve and he regularly goes, he told me thank you for referring him after he had gone to a different lady chiropractor in Seattle. He said she didn't really do anything except take an x-ray and did some weird traction thing that didn't help and no adjustment. I have been a long time struggler with upper & lower back problems for the last decade or so. As a former Firefighter/EMT, Collegiate Lacrosse Athlete, Ironman racer and competitive Crossfit athlete my back, to say the least has taken a beating over the years. Dr. Cummins is more than just my chiropractor. He the first line of defense with any health questions. Unlike other chiropractors who make be excellent technically, Dr. Cummins goes beyond short term reactive fixes, and tries to get us to focus on the big picture. His goal is to get us to age 100 with excellent functional health. And that involves long term decisions about what we eat, how much exercise we get, and getting a good night's sleep etc. I've been going to see Dr. Cummins since my first month living here in 2011. Dr. Cummins has given our whole family excellent care for the last three years. I used to have chronic neck and back pain, always feeling like I had knots in my shoulders. Absolutely brilliant. Dr Cummins is true professional, who is kind, gentle, compassionate and understanding. He takes the time to listen, and will answer questions without making you feel like a five year old child. I was unable to get out of bed because my neck felt like a knife was stabbing into it. Even adjusting my head on my pillow was excruciating. I was able to move after taking a couple muscle relaxers. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bob and after adjusting my back and neck and stretching out my neck, arms, shoulders and back, I have been able to go to work every day since with no muscle relaxers or even NSAIDs. Dr. Cummins is the only chiropractor that has been able to properly diagnose my issue and work with me to restore my back and neck. He had me do specific exercises and movements to further diagnose the issue versus other chiropractors who would only ask where the pain was and slightly fix the problem.
