The road leading to this campground is a two lane country road with no shoulders for 6 miles. To make it more fun, the last mile is a one lane, steep, curvy road with blind turns and no shoulders. Thankfully, we did not encounter any oncoming vehicles. I can see why they are sticklers about arriving and departing times! Check-in was quick, and the lady told us that someone would help us park. And that is a very good thing. The main area is an oval, and it's a tight, one way road. It would have been challenging to back into our site without help. The sites are narrow and very unlevel. We had to run to Walmart for more blocks. BTW the campground brochure says Walmart is 8 miles away. It's 12 and takes a good half hour or more depending on if you have to wait at a train crossing. Ask me how I know. When we returned to the campground, the staff was handing out concrete blocks to help people get level. They really need to warn prospective customers about this. The sites are close together, and there is no privacy. There is no cell coverage, and the WiFi is spotty. There are two toilets and two showers in the bathrooms, and they are clean. They also have a nice laundry room with large machines. Be prepared for ticks - we all picked up one or two just moving around the campsites. The river is beautiful surrounded by tall rocks. They rent boating equipment and have a few Adirondack chairs to sit by the river. read more

We had a great week T Cummins Ferry RV Park in late May and early June 2025. The park was our home base for touring around the region. The spaces were spacious and mostly quiet. We enjoyed visiting area distilleries, locally owned restaurant and retail spaces as well as a nearby train ride and horse farm tour. We appreciated the live entertainment on a couple of evenings and that we did not take advantage of the food truck. It was nice to have that option. read more

We booked trip in April. We went last week in September. Loved it. Pulled in Friday evening, Spent Saturday afternoon Kayaking the Ky River. They had a band and 2 food trucks that evening. My daughter & her family said camp site quality was best they have been to since Disney camp ground. We was near the river, All sites are 45 deg from road & easy to back in. You had asphalt level pad to park on. Stamped concrete patio at each site and full hook up. You can rent a Kayak for $40 @ 4 hours. They had laundry & showers too. Kids playground & pool in season. Interesting little resort. The approach be careful. Even though there is video of the "driveway", Cummins Ferry Road is no joke, the roadway is barely wide enough for two vehicles and pulling a trailer makes interesting. A lot of rolling hills and a one lane bridge. The "Driveway" in, is down hill at a decent steep grade, my truck was not happy. Gate: you need a swipe card to get in which is kind of cool. No unwanted people. Facilities: full hook up, dog park, kayak rentals, ice and wood delivery, pool, bathhouse (showers, toilets and sinks), helpful staff (Brian- who drives the golf cart almost like a maintenance man. Super helpful) and a camp store with limited hours. Site: the sites are based on price. Up against the hill is the cheapest which we had. Slight hill which is nice for the rain but makes it difficult for walking. We couldn't make full use of the pad because our slide is right in the middle. (Cherokee 274BRB). Local area: historic, friendly and worth visiting. For those complaining about it not being a resort, the traditional sense of resort it is not. However, in the camping world this is a resort, has a lot of amenities and no tenters. read more

We're so disappointed. We were looking forward to staying at Cummins Ferry RV Park and prepaid for 3 nights. After arriving, being guided to our spot, we unhooked, unloaded, and settled in for a nice, relaxing stay. Imagine our surprise when one of the attendants came by and informed us that their infrastructure couldn't handle a 50amp load that we needed to run our 22 ft camper and charge our electric truck. We offered to pay a full nights value ($85) for any extra electric cost, we also offered to limit the amount power that we drew at any time, but the attendant still insisted that the electrical system in the RV Park couldn't support any sustained load over 30 amps. Good luck if you have air conditioners that require more than 30 amps. Avoid this place if it's hot and you have dual AC units. read more

My first impression, this place has potential. But I would give it at least a year. They call this a resort and marina. Those words imply something special and this campground just doesn't deliver. When you book a site from the map view, you will notice every picture of the river view sites is a picture of a couple enjoying the view of the river. Not a picture of the actual site. That's a red flag I should have caught but didn't. Dilapidated joke of a marina. No kids play area although it looks like equipment was waiting to be set up. The pool was sad, tiny, filthy. Bathroom...meh. Zero cell service. Their Wi-Fi is a joke. No disclosure of construction or lack of cell service on their website. I paid $65. A night for this mud hole. Quite disappointed with this place. The web pics does not match the actual park. The reviews were so mixed from 5star to 0, what to believe... It's a long way down a paved road to get there, but once you are there it is beautiful stretch of the river- the river and the waterfall, so pretty. You MUST know what you are doing since there is zero cell or WiFi or cable or connection to the outside world- which is fine, but we had no way to look around and plan our bourbon trail visits (4 roses and Woodbridge is very close). This was the biggest problem. My plan was kayak then bourbon trail- neither was able to come to fruition. Pool opened on day 2, but just a plain square- kids were not interested. Many permanent residents here What a pretty view, but the 'marina' is a super sketchy dirty exposed metal dock. The is a steep steep boat drop in - no way to rent a kayak, SUP, canoe or anything!!! Even the front desk had no idea how we could enjoy the river and rock formations! The website SHOWS picks of people enjoying water activities!!! You must bring your own to enjoy this. Be sure you have food, restaurants are few and close early. Parking way easy, escorted into our slot, we had our own table, umbrella, but no grill, so we used our firepit. If you come/ be prepared have a plan directions and reservations ahead of time to enjoy this could be amazing campgrounds. No trash service Laundry is quite a hike- we drove to get it done. read more

My wife and I camped here for nine nights and ten days with our two Grandchildren and we had a great time. The campground is located on the Kentucky River. It is well maintained and provides lots of activities and services on site. For example, food trucks on Saturday evenings April through October, Wi-fi, camp store/gift shop with free popcorn and coffee, firewood and ice can be purchased at the store and staff will deliver it to your campsite, the pool, dog park, laundry facility with change machine, quiet time and more. One need only check out the website for more information. The big hit for our grandchildren was the swimming pool and they loved being able to ride their bikes in this safe, flat environment. The staff here are very friendly and helpful as needed. The campground is gated and so there is a feeling of safety as it is located in a fairly remote area that non-campers may want to come in and take advantage of. I like that there are a list of rules to keep order in the park and campers generally adhere to them. The park is located close enough to small surrounding towns if needs arise. We will definitely return. Thanks to the owners and staff for a great experience. read more

One of the most beautiful campgrounds we have ever stayed at...that we will never return to. First the good; as stated before this is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have stayed at. The River and waterfall are stunning. The park grounds are clean the staff (camp hosts) are very helpful. Now the bad... There is absolutely zero cell service from any provider. No Verizon, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile. Text messaging is spotty and internet is a joke. Again, zero internet service. There is park Wi-fi but is a complete joke. I'm not sure if Cummins RV Park is using "Uncle Jed's" Hillbilly Internet service but it seems like it. Our RV coach was literally less than 20 yards from the internet tower and our reception was abysmal. So what happens if an emergency arises and you need to call 911? We'll, then you go to the office where they have a single land based phone attached outside to call for emergencies. Or...you can do what all the other guests do and drive 5 mins outside the park to what some people say is the double yellow lane markers on the road where you start to get reception. If you are looking for a park with 100% solitude...Cummins Ferry RV Resort is for you. But if you want to call family, work from your RV using internet or call business associates or just watch internet based TV like Roku... don't hold your breath. A few smaller things. If you want to empty your garbage...prepare for a 1/2 mile walk. That's 1/4 mile there and 1/4 mike back. Why on Earth they cannot get the dumpster closer or even a few more is beyond me. Also, apparently they only empty the dumpster once a week which means by the end of the week the dumpster is over flowing. They advertise a beautiful pool but we were there in late June 2021 and the pool was closed for the entire 10 days we were there. So if you want to camp like a hermit...this is the place for you. But if you want to talk to family, work from your RV or just watch a sporting event on TV...better go else where read more

Not convenient to visiting sites in the area (15 minutes to the main road on a dangerous narrow road out). Bathrooms were nasty. Their brochure says, "If you need anything just whistl.". However, when we got locked out of our camper, the on site manage, didn't have any assistance to offer. The next day at the office, they imm handed us a locksmit's card (after a long cold night). There is NO cell service (Wi-Fi calling only). We also called 4 times before arrivin, with no return call. it's a pretty park's on the river & staff were very nice, just wish it had been less remote & they kept their bathrooms clean. read more

Avoid this place, since they obviously hate nature. I booked 1 night, but they don't allow Electric Vehicle charging. I didn't see any warning about that when I booked, and I looked at the website carefully. I even included a note on my reservation form saying that I intended to charge my Tesla overnight. No response to that. On the road they sent terms & conditions, which I scanned quickly and agreed. They just sent me another email to check in online, and it had a copy of the terms & conditions. Sure enough, no EV charging my first night is forfeit when canceling within 10 days. All the other parks with electric have let me charge overnight without extra charges. My EV is silent, doesn't pollute and fits into a smaller space. They're charging enough for a hotel room, and large RV's often use a lot of electricity for HVAC, etc. The climate crisis is a serious threat to life on earth, but they're happy only serving giant RVs that get 5 miles per gallon. The park is very expensive, the contract is extensive, and I feel scammed. Since now I know that they are anti-environment, I wouldn't stay here if they paid me. I'm going to stay elsewhere and take the loss as an education expense. I'm not canceling, so they can't rebook it. Hope they go out of business soon. read more

We absolutely love this place. The first time I visited in May I was really nervous. The reviews were bad, the road was narrow, and I was scared to stay here. However, we ended up loving it so much we are back for more than a month this July! They are under new ownership and have made many upgrades and changes. The staff are amazing, the community is great, we've met amazing people and have become friends. They have lots of activities for families, crafts, potlucks, group games, hiking, kayaking, and the spots are nice and roomy. Some are unlevel but they provide blocks for your jacks if needed. The bad reviews for this place are completely wrong. We have been traveling for 9 months and this has been our favorite campsite thus far. read more

Not only is it beautiful but there was a great food truck and amazing live music on Saturday. The on-site store was cool with locally made products. We will be back. New owners; PLEASE take this seriously. Your new manager is obnoxious , to say the least. He is NOT a people person. It's no wonder the employees only stay one year, then move on. Racist manager, rude, cold, opinionated. No dog park (supposed to be in place as of August 22). No cell or internet, no help from Mr. Ayman, the manager who never helps or leaves the front of the park- his RV to the office, to the pavilion . The only time he ever came to the back of the park was to evict me for telling another guest to pick up his dog doo on my site. I was told by the grounds manager to do this) The water is muddy at the sites, even with a filter. No refunds, insist on using only their firewood (a ripoff), gated exit was broken for 5 weeks. the road is lethal; the attitude of the manager is as well. Not kid or dog friendly. I wish I had known this before paying $800 a month; was evicted bc I complained about no cell service and dog waste EVERYWHERE!!! I was not prorated a refund. if you are used to being treated like a human, please reconsider visiting this RV park. Probably ideal for 1-2 night stays, but they are incapable of managing monthly guests. Just downright greedy and unethical. I asked for the owners' email or phone number twice, but never received it. Current owners- please look into these problems before they are irreparable!!! read more

We should have heeded the warnings of others. Not a family friendly camp ground. Owners feel it's appropriate to curse in front of a two year old and 8 month old baby while flipping them off when I, as a parent ask, them to control their language and not use profanities in front of my children. Don't be distracted by the pool and playground. These are clearly a warped way for the owners to give the illusion that they are kids friendly. read more

Terrible experience. Pool wasn't functioning the three weeks we were there. Nothing to do except hike some trails that we found soggy at best. The dock is a mess, but could be nice if they built a restaurant or something on it. They have music on Saturday night for 3 hours which is nice and a food truck once a week. They need kayak rental really bad because they are on a beautiful stretch of the Kentucky River and the views would be fantastic from the water. Is close to bourbon trail. We reserved a monthly spot while in town for the school year, but chose to leave after two weeks (forfeiting what we had paid for a deposit and additional two weeks of board). Our first concern was that this is not a very pet-friendly campground. There are no waste stations available, so we had to create our own by buying a small trash can to leave by our camper door. We were fine with doing this, but the owner/manager, Gail, still accused us of not picking up after our dog in spite of the fact that he was not the only dog there so she had no reason to think it was him. Also, he is a hunting breed so he needs lots of exercise, but when we asked where the owners would prefer we throw the ball for him, they offered to let us use the nearby hunting land (but recommended I wear orange just in case there were hunters). I did not feel that was a safe option, and I did not feel like dogs were a welcome part of the community. We ended up leaving because there is NO Verizon cell service within about a mile of the campground and my family was unable to get in touch with me. I would have been fine with this if we had reliable internet access because we could use email or Skype, but our Jetpack got no signal, and the campground wifi often did not provide access. We could usually get two devices logged into it, which meant we were constantly juggling two phones, two laptops for our work, and forget about any TV. Also, I was afraid to take my dog for a walk for fear of offending the owners. When we found another place with better signal and a more pet-friendly staff, we had to leave on a Monday evening after my better half got off work in order to get set up at our new place. I had packages coming anyway, so my better half advised Gail's husband that we would bring the gate cards back when our packages were all in, since it would be an hour-long trip back (and a quarter tank of gas). A week later, I got a call from Gail at 9:11 AM on Sunday morning (which I do not consider to be an acceptable time for business). She left a voicemail asking when I was coming to pick up my packages. Since it seemed like my packages were in her way, I made arrangements to come the next day, calling her in advance to keep her informed. The office phone rarely gets answered, so I had to leave a voicemail advising I was coming as soon as I could, but I only had one of the gate cards with me and would have to bring the other one by later. I immediately got a call back while I was driving, so I didn't answer, but she called back repeatedly until I pulled over to pick up. One of the voicemails she left me was unusually nasty - she called me by my first name and snapped that unless I had both gate cards with me I was NOT getting ANY of my packages! and she hung up. When I was able to pull over and speak with her, she was audibly angry and kept telling me I would not get any of my property back until both of the gate cards were turned in. I was surprised because I thought getting the packages out of her way was more important, but I had no intention of keeping her property and her language and demeanor was completely unnecessary. I told her I would get the other gate card that night and come back as soon as I could. The next day, I called to let her know I would come that day with both gate cards. Again, I had to leave a message because the phone usually goes unanswered. I tried two more times to get in touch with her to make sure I would be able to pick up my property, because I honestly felt that she would be rude if I arrived unexpectedly. I got all the way there (during her business hours, which start at noon) and the office was closed. No one in sight. She returned my calls later that night and said she'd be available for the next two days. She finally gave me a THIRTY-MINUTE window where I could stop by and make the exchange. For full transparency, when I stopped by at that time, she was very pleasant and even made small talk about the weather. Overall, this was an awful experience that I do not care to repeat. I admit, I may have been spoiled over the years being used to Southern hospitality, but I've never noticed such obvious absence of it. We are good residents who do our best to follow the rules, respect the grass and other residents' peace and quiet, and rarely ask campground offices for anything, but we were treated like we were rowdy teenagers or something. It was worth it to leave early and find a friendly and welcoming campground. read more

En route from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to our home in Chicago, I had been driving long enough that I needed to pull over and get some sleep. I tried one campground, but they had gates across their entrance and did not answer their late check in call box. On the way back out to the main road, I passed a police officer and asked if he had a recommendation for a local campground. He said he really likes Cummins Ferry Campground. I got the address off of Google and drove over to discover the same setup. Gated entrance, no way to check in for late arriving travelers. By this point I was exhausted to the point of tears. I was traveling with 2 children and there were no other campgrounds in the area, at least none that showed up via Siri or Google. At first I considered parking in a lot and opening the windows for air, but it was a very hot and muggy night and I couldn't fall asleep. I tried the campground again, hoping I had missed something about how to register as a late night arrival. In all my years of camping, I've never come across this situation. When I drove through again, I noticed they had grassy camp spots with electric posts outside the gate. Thank heaven!!! I plugged in, put the kids in their beds, and went to sleep. 3 hours later the woman who owns the place banged on my door and said I had parked in a non-RV spot. I woke up out of a deep sleep, terrified. I apologized, explained the situation, said I absolutely intended to pay and asked how much it was. She said $35, so I handed her my credit card. She said, "You'll have to come with me." I told her I was in my nightgown and have my two children with me. She said she'd wait for me to get dressed. Mind you, this is all happening with 3 hours of sleep. After she had my credit card, she said, "You're going to have to pack up and leave right now." AFTER she intended to charge me for full hookups and a full stay. I asked her why. She said we had driven on her grass. (There isn't another option even for tent campers.) I said I was very sorry, but had limited options, that I would be happy to pay for a full site. As I looked up and down at empty spots, she bluntly said, "We're FULL." She said she was going to charge us for the full night and we'd have to leave without what I had paid for. At that point I tried again to explain that my intentions were honest and that I just wanted to do an after hours checkin as is very common with most campgrounds. -You arrive late, hookup, then register in the morning. She then relented and said she'd jumped the gun, nodding at our vintage Avion (similar to an Airstream) and said she'd gotten a lot of bad types in the area we camped in. In short, she thought our nearly mint vintage camper looked like trouble next to the $100k new RVs. I was told I could stay until 11. So I slept for 3 hours, was woken up and dragged out of bed with a great deal of hostility for half an hour, then was allowed to sleep for 3 more hours, most of which I spent jumping at every sound and worrying that I wasn't getting enough sleep to drive safely. This does not a restful sleep make. Sure enough, at 10:45 she was banging on my door again to remind me to leave at 11. In short, if you're headed here expecting welcoming hospitality, avoid like the plague. If you're on a road trip and needing an overnight stay, avoid like the plague. If you're traveling in a vintage camper (no matter how nice or cute), avoid like the plague. I'm now at another campground about 2 hours north, paying to rest yet again so that I can drive safely. My bf went to get it but the only way to get to it was to hop the fence she had locked and once he was down there they called the police saying we were refusing to leave. Then while we where trying to put the cooler in the truck the man told my bf he could go get f***ed. Let me first say, that Gale (please excuse me if the spelling is wrong) and Dan are probably the best folks I've ever met in my life. They are the hardest working, most honest folks you could ever hope to encounter in your life and if you have the privilege of knowing them, you will know you have a friend for life. We have known them for a good number of years, we have camped here many times and this year we put our camper here for the entire season. The only complaint I have ever had is with the wifi, but it has been resolved, the campground is pristine, clean, quiet, beautiful and secluded. Can't think of anything else to ask for. Okay, this review from Alana, I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience here. I'm sure you were frustrated with the situation. It sounds as if you were weary and was just ready to turn in for the evening and looking for any place you could park for the night as long as you could plug in. I've been there and done that too, so I know where you are coming from. But here's what I have learned over the years. Unless you can plan in advance, there are no certainties with camping. You can always pull into a parking lot at most wal-mart's and spend the night, but unless you bring your own generator, you are unplugged for the night. But to pull into a private campground, unannounced in the middle of the night and expect to be accommodated is pretty naive on your part. Yes, you are right that some, few, campgrounds allow late night check in and you settle up in the morning, but this campground is gated and I personally pay for that security so I don't have to worry about leaving my camper unattended, I PAY for this service. I'm so sorry you did not get to realize the friendly service of this establishment, under any other circumstances you would have been elated. May I suggest that you either carry a generator or plan better in the future. There is always the option of checking into the local Motel 6 when you simply can't make an advanced plan. This was our destination for a Bourbon Trip that we were taking last year. We called the campground several weeks in advance, and told them we would be arriving around 130am, and wanted to know if we could still get in. Although the gates were closed at the time, they were kind enough to let us rest near the entrance until they got in the following morning. Once we got into our spot (in the 70s) we found them to be extra large, with plenty of space for our 45' Coach Bus and 26' trailer to stay attached behind the coach. The management there is SO NICE and would go out of their way to help you. It is right on the Kentucky river, and has a calming sound of water flowing if you listen very carefully. We walked around the river, and enjoyed the water coming from around the rocks on the bank. Very nice place and seems to have lots of activities during the summer months. We would return here. read more

Don't stay here! Upon arrival we were told they would be doing asphalt the following morning, After driving 800 miles. Why wasn't I told when I booked my site? The construction noise was not relaxing at all! Felt like I camped in the middle of a construction zone. The noise was incredible! When we got to our site we found that the hookups were about 35ft apart. Our fresh water hose was only 25ft. Gail (the owner) pulled up and asked if there was a problem? We informed her of our issue. Her response was "I didn't build the place! A nice man checking in just after us said "I have an extra that you can borrow". She told him he just cost her a sale! Many seasonal empty camper.Grass was a foot high. Pool was green, and in disrepair. NO cable, no internet, no TV. NO matter what Gail tells you! Needless to stay we left after staying only 1 day. I went to return my gate key, and she told me I couldn't leave due to the road just getting finished. She asked why I was leaving. I told her it wasn't very relaxing. So instead of making a sale for a hose from me she got to keep my 2 additional days. read more
