We have all had Korean food other places, but we are by no means connoisseurs--we want our food to be good and we all felt like our bowls/ramen/mandoo were very good. Ooph. While Cupbop's original food truck may have been founded on the spirit of Korean culture, this apple has fallen far from the tree. I would not wish any of my friends or family to associate this with Korean cuisine. This location is located in a shopping plaza with several other restaurants and offers a fast casual option for those looking to stray beyond Chipotle. Inside, bored staff members stare blankly at you while giving unhelpful descriptions of menu items. "Korean style fried chicken" (Ugly Bop), "Korean style BBQ chicken" (Kko Kko Bop), and "Korean style tangy fried chicken" (Rock Bop) all read so similarly that it's hard to tell without having been here before what you're getting. I still don't remember which one was which, but one of them was more like orange chicken (neither Korean... not even ethnically Chinese if you're wondering), one was like popcorn chicken (Taiwanese) and reasonably tasty, and the other one was a sticky sweet chicken. I went with a salad bowl with noodles, while my boyfriend and I split some Mandoo. We waited forever for our meal to be prepared, another flabbergasting oddity since the whole point of a fast casual is for them to scoop and dump and hand you the container. Somehow people coming in after us go their meal first, and when my boyfriend went to ask if our meal was the one sitting on a tray at the end, an employee snapped at him. Turns out it was ours. When we finally unboxed the items, the mystery cream and brown sauces covering our bowls had sort of congealed into an unappetizing mess. The popcorn style chicken wasn't bad, but everything else was just passable and they would honestly be better served by just reheating H-Mart japchae for their noodle base. I've never tried this chain before and I was curious. The person behind the counter was super helpful and made me fresh fried tofu to go in my "cup." But even then the food was just ok. The 930 niku ramen is the best ramen I've ever tasted. I do door dash because I live far. I never had a problem until they got my order wrong twice this past year. I talked to a girl Jaqueline and she said they could remake the whole order. I door dashed again and they forgot my side. When I called she said she "could have sworn she put them in there." Talked to the older manager and told her what happened she said to come in and they'll give it to me. I called before we went in there and talked with Jaqueline and she said they didn't write anything down but I could come in and they would do it. I come in but Jaqueline is gone for the day I talk to a manager Amanda and she was like let me call the other manager because basically Jaqueline doesn't have authority to correct their mistake they made. I had to talk to the manager over the phone and tell her everything all over again. She said ok they'll remake the one order and give me the side. I gave the phone back to Amanda and she just walked back to the back not saying anything to us. The cashier was like can you guys move so we can help the other people in line. We had no idea what was going on because Amanda didn't say ok we'll get that right out to you, she had barely looked at the receipt to go off of. After cashier was done with that customer I walked up and asked her what Amanda is going to do because she didn't say what she was going to do and my husband still needed to order his food. He ordered and we went to go sit down and then Amanda went and brought me my food in a to go bag without saying anything. I looked at it and the order was still wrong. So my husband went to go deal with it as I was tired of explaining it to them. They changed it then forgot the side again. It was a horrible experience! I pay $50**+ dollars for them to door dash it and they failed to make sure everything is correct then treat you as if you're the problem. Amanda silent treatment was rude, the older manager and Jaqueline were ok. I'll order the ramen again because it's my fav but going to have to call them every time to tell them to make sure it's correct. If you don't want to remake the order don't mess it up. This is a bit of a biased opinion. I just want to put that out there right away. As a Korean, if something is advertised as Korean, I expect there to be at least somewhat of a resemblance to Korean food. This is pretty far from it. If you take a look at the picture I posted of the 2 bowls we got, it's pretty clear that this is not Korean food. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was that tasty either. Most to all of the flavor came from the very strong sauces they douse the food with. If you're looking for the equivalent of Burger King in "Korean" food form, this may satisfy you but do not expect anything close to actual Korean food. read more

Stopped in again to one of my new favorite Korean places for lunch. As always, we were greeted by the friendly staff upon entry. My sister was here trying it out for the first time, and the lady taking our order did a great job explaining how the cupbops were built and suggestions on what she enjoyed. I ordered a B-bop, which is the korean bulgogi cupbop, while my sister ordered the pork bop, and her fiance tried the Ramen for the first time. Everything came out quickly but tasty! The cupbop is essentially sweet potatoes noodles (which for someone who doesn't enjoy the taste of sweet potatoes is very tasty and doesn't taste too sweet potatoey) with rice and cabbage and your protein as well. I enjoyed a spice level of 6 though a suggestion. Ask for a little extra spicy mayo! It really turns up the flavor. The pork bop was just as good. I didn't try the ramen, but I was told it tastes very good. It was filling and tasty, and everyone left with a smile. We will definitely be back! Side note, there is seating in the restaurant. Okay, we first heard about Cupbop when we were at an event and there was the food truck. We have since moved to Arvada and were excited to be near the store. We love cupbop since it's quick and delicious. We always switch it up so we never get the same thing but it's really good. The spice level is pretty spicy so I usually stick with a 6 or 7.5. Very Disappointing!!! Went in around 130 to find everything sitting in warmer trays. It actually all look like it's been sitting there for quite a while so I asked if they are pretty busy shop when I was told no I knew the food must've been there for longer than it should be. I ordered the beef and there was a strange creamy sauce put on it, there was very little rice in the bowel. The glass noodles had an odd texture. I'm not a fan of them to begin with and the meet overall had slimy texture. Huessing that's from sitting in the greasy juice for so long. Also picked up the crunchy chicken was told by the person having that that it was not very good. They also agreed this is a place we probably would not return to. I'm not generally one that uses Yelp to write poor reviews. I'd rather shine on great businesses. Unfortunately, I had an experience today with this Cupbop location that I feel needs to be shared in concern of patron safety and welfare. I ordered two bowls through Doordash pickup and upon starting to eat, I found a metal wire like object in my food. It looks like part of a metal dish scrubber or something of that nature (see photo). What's most concerning is that had this been swallowed, it could cause severe bodily injury. I can't help but feel sick to my stomach thinking of what could happen to myself or someone else because of this carelessness. To make matters worse, my partner found a long strand of hair in his bowl not even moments later. We couldn't believe that we hit the poor food safety double whammy. It would be almost laughable if it wasn't just utterly repulsive and just outright dangerous. As someone who worked in food service for many years, I recognize that mistakes can happen, but restaurants need to be held accountable for their oversights. That said -- these kinds of incidents, especially two seperate occurring ones in a single order, are just evidence of blatant disregard for food safety and there is zero excuse for it. read more

Cupbop has become one of my new favorite fresh-fast-foods. I seriously love the variety of ingredients, the different sauce selection and it is so filling for the price - I usually get at least two meals out of one! I have tried several of the meat options and usually get a combo with at least two - there has not been one yet that I haven't liked. I usually get one of the more mild sauce combos, but sometimes I go for the special 7, which is not that spicy, but has a nice kick. Their dumplings are also worth grabbing and sharing amongst your group (or not :). Also, the pork was not Japanese style like in typical chashu pork ramen, instead it was ribbons of meat. Very strange. The B Bop with pork was very sugary. The glass noodles were meh. This Cupbop is conveniently located in the big strip mall (in between First Watch and Hu Hot, for easier reference). They must have been selling out Cupbops all day long as by the time I arrived, the colorful yellow cups have been replaced by a regular white cup. It is less photogenic, but what surprised me was the size of the "cup", it is essentially a bowl! I went in thinking one little cup each won't fill up myself and the hubby, but their generous portions make for a fulfilling meal. I chose the Rock Chicken for my freebie and ordered a Combo (beef and pork) to go. Both are very flavorful (only asked for level 2 - baby spicy) I wonder if the Rock in "Rock Chicken" is from "Rock Sugar"? The look and texture sure remind me so. LOVE LOVE LOVE the glass noodles and was secretly wishing the entire thing was filled with them (instead of a layer of rice). Have been wanting to try this concept for a while now and unfortunately was not impressed. Quality of ingredients: the meat was barely cooked, definitely not crispy as fried chicken should be, the veggies were mushy, but the noodles were slurpy - in a good way Seasoning and flavor: Korean BBQ is known for its bold and flavorful marinades and sauces. Menu is largely displayed on the wall so it's very easy to read. Overheard staff and management having great conversations with each other which shows they enjoy their job. Leads to great customer experience. Food came out REALLY fast. I ordered the B Bop. Consisted of korean beef, cabbage, noodles and rice. I opted for the combo and received 3 dumplings and a drink. Dumplings were crispy and juicy! I wanted more! The bowl was filled top the top. They weren't stingy with the protein. I chose the medium sauce top it off. Everything tasted great. Over all I had a great time!! I went to the Arvada location and arrived around 1pm, a little after the lunch rush. The location was easy to find! The employee asked how they could help me. I had never been there before so I was excited to see what all was included in a bowl. Stopped in for a quick bite with hubs. We ordered the Black Garlic Ranen spicy and Korean BBQ chicken bowl with mandu. I'm a breast girl and tho I was told it was breast, it looked to be dark meat. No problem. A lively young lady jumped up from her computer and asked if I'd like it remade or something else. I chose the mandu bowl. Hubby finished the Ramen before I could get a picture which says it was pretty doggone good. I did taste the broth which was silky and rich with a little hint of spice, and he says all the stuff inside was pretty good. My Bowl had noodles, rice, cabbage, along with the sauces, and the Mandu on top. It was all "good". My problem was the Mayo was too heavy for my tummy. Next time I'll ask for sauces on the side. My first Cupbop experience was great! All of the bowls have a base of rice, japchae (glass noodle) and cabbage. You choose your protein and sauce, which ranges from sweet to super spicy. You can also add dumplings (mandoo) and kimchi for a little extra. They have gluten free and vegetarian options! Most of the seating is taken out due to COVID so we took our bowls home to eat. The bowls travel well and were still hot for a 15 minute ride home. This ended up being a lot of food and I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. This little place is pretty neat, the food is basically all encompassed in a bowl mixed with meat of your choice and vegetables added to the side. The flavor is tangy and a variety spice levels sort of give you more control. And them being in a bowl give you more portability. The place still looks new and clean, which is welcoming. Though with all the black, it does feel dark and gloomy. The price, however, could be a little too high to enjoy this place on a regular basis. More like a treat to yourself once a month or so. I've really enjoyed my Cupbop food that I've had here and also at the 32nd location. It's packed full of flavor and spice (they have a great range of spice!) I typically get the rock bop (tangy Korean fried chicken)/mandoo (gyoza) combo bowl. What I don't like about cupbop is either how darn long it takes to get your food or when they make your bowl and then it sits while waiting for an ingredient! I'd much rather they wait until they have all the ingredients and THEN make the bowl so things don't get cold. Pro tip: shake the cup before opening to get it mixed up! I'm here for a Yelp elite event so just wanted to throw that out there. My husband and I each got combos, mine was the tofu and ugly bop or fried chicken and his was the pork and beef combo. We got the level 6 which wasn't too spicy at all. The fried chicken was still crispy and flavorful. I snuck in a few bites of the pork and beef which was cooked well too. The tofu was a bit bland, but not bad. I would want to try the veggies next time. It was a little tricky to mix up, but make sure you do to get the sauce in. If I had to be completely honest, it was a little sweet for my taste and heavy with Mayo. However, the flavors came together well. There's a mixture of rice, noodles and some veggies. You should definitely wash it down with the yogi Vera, it's not too sweet. It's a good rendition of the classic bibambap, but Americanized with the Mayo. Wish I had a beer to go with this! The tofu was cooked perfectly and I was surprised, a lot of places cook it and it's not crispy enough but that was not the case. Overall the food was pretty tasty but after I ate it I felt kind of sick and I think it was because the fried chicken was really really greasy. Could've been a bit less greasier. Conveniently located right off of I-70 in Arvada, we stopped here for some quick to go orders for a "car picnic" during the pandemic. I got the Combo Bop for just $9.95 and chose the Korean BBQ beef (from the B Bop) and the Korean style fried chicken (from the Ugly Pop Bop) as my proteins. It was a fully loaded bowl with rice, cabbage, plenty of noodles (jap chae), topped with generous portions of protein, then drizzled with their yummy sauce - I chose level 4 and it was flavorful but not too spicy. If I had to be picky about it, I wish there were a bit more cabbage in my bowl and wish the chicken had better crunch. The beef also felt a little over cooked. But I would give this bowl a solid 4.5/5, and bumping my rating up to a 5 because of their generous portions. It ended up being a big dinner with leftovers for the next day.
