The instructor has such a bad Chinese accent that one can hardly understand what he is saying..... and the trick of the instructor is, after every sentence (which you wont understand) he will ask "Understaand?" Today my wife took 2 hours test and it was a total waste of 80 dollars. Now the thing it, when I called them for an appointment, I specifically told the lady that I would need an instructor who can speak REAL GOOD english as she wont be able to understand the Chinese accent. This is the WORST driving school EVER! The instructor who picked me up was an old man who clearly didn't know how to speak ENGLISH. A lot of the stuff he said didn't make sense at all! I had a really difficult time understanding his instructions. He was also very impatient and very RUDE! When I was driving he yelled at me loudly all the time. Especially when I made a mistake or simply didn't understand his instructions. Seriously dude, if I knew how to drive why would I pay you to teach me?! The instructor arrived nearly 20 minutes late after going to the wrong street, and then wouldn't let my dad come along in the car (which was kind of sketch). The car itself was really old and didn't have proper ventilation, and the man smelled like cigarette smoke (I have asthma). He then proceeded to alternately shout at me for failing to anticipate other poor drivers on the road and tell me that he would "take care of me," which he didn't. He also TOUCHED MY ARM AND LEG in a way that made me feel uncomfortable. To make matters worse, he barely spoke English, so it was a struggle dividing my attention between the road and trying to understand him. This instructor didn't tell me his name, but if he did, I would definitely NOT recommend him. Very little professionalism and overall a terrible experience. read more

Absolute sham of a school. I got a driving lesson here after looking at a couple of different schools and decided to try this place out since it was both local and fairly inexpensive. The website advertises that all their cars are manufactured after 2007 but the car I was picked up in was clearly much older than that and was on the verge of breaking down. My instructor Albert I can only describe as incredibly rude and unprofessional. I could hardly understand a word he said, he never bothered even asking if I had a learners permit, yelled at me as soon as I got in the car because I couldn't figure out how to adjust his mirrors, told me to go through an intersection when there was a pedestrian who clearly had the right of way, would tell me to change lanes then yell at me because he made a mistake telling me which lane to change into, and forced me to drive over a curb to get into a parking lot when there was clearly no room for me to turn into it just so he could go take a bathroom break. Afterwards I went to pay him with my card which he said cash or check only which I was not told when I made the appointment. I told him I wouldn't be able to get him Cash til the following week when I got my paycheck. He then proceeded to call me every night late at night asking if had his money. At one point my mother answered the phone to which he was very rude to. Then he ended up calling the collection bureau despite the fact I told him I would get him his money. I went into the office to complain and learned that this instructor has apparently had several other drivers report him. I asked if I could take the class over with a different instructor and they said no. Why on earth would they even keep this guy hired if everyone who has a lesson with him complains? Why not offer a person one of their more experienced instructors who hasn't had anything reported? The entirely unprofessional way they handle their business should not be tolerated and I would not recommend anyone take a class here. There are many more professional and legitimate driving schools to choose from. read more

Do Not use! This school does not have proper procedures nor process. They are subletting an office from another business and are rarely there. We used this service for our 16 year old daughter who speaks English. She could barely understand the instructor and we had to change schools. That's where the problem started. While this school promised to send a letter to transfer the 2 hours to another school they did not, despite follow up emails and calls. We missed our DMV appointment as the promised document did not come through. These appointments have 1-2 month lead time. We ended up making about 20 phone calls, over a dozen emails over a period of a month to get the simple statement on letterhead (they don't have). Terrible experience. Go Elsewhere. read more

First, their rate is different with the one on their website. Second, the full process from booking an appointment to waiting for the coach is really not smooth. They missed several information and the one over the phone call was rude. Coach was late without any notice, kept yelling a lot during the instruction. I'm a fan. One out of three lessons taken. First was for new Teen on the road. Jason was on-time with pick-up and drop-off, was informative and guided me well. Went on to practice with parents confidently following the first lesson. Taking the second lesson shortly and am more road-savvy this time. Very happy with the high level of instruction... my chinese speaking wife went from never having driven to passing her DMV road test in about 8 weeks. The instructor was excellent and passed along some valuable tips... I can assure you my wife was scary to drive with the first few weeks now she is a pro and an excellent driver. I can only attribute that to the instruction she recieved. The price was reasonable. We also paid to have the instructor go with her to the DMV so she could use his car for the exam. Over all.. I don't understand all the low rating reviews because I thought this was an extremely professional driving school. When I emailed them to plan about my classes, they replied quickly. They were also very flexible with their time slots and arrived exactly at the time that we had planned. My instructor was great! The lessons weren't boring at all, and I learned many tips that could have failed me had I not taken these classes. He was super nice and explained everything that would be on the actual drive test, including the three types of routes. Since he wasn't pressuring me the entire time, it was much easier to learn my mistakes. The driving lessons went smoothly, and my instructor was incredibly calm too. I highly recommend this driving school. It helped me alot , and I should be able to pass my driving test easily now. read more

I went with them for behind the wheel driving for my teenage daughter, as they were referred to me by a friend and also because they had immediate availability and the price was very competitive. I was not disappointed. The first instructor was an older gentleman and he was very considerate and patient. When I called for him again, I was told that he is no longer there. The new instructor was a younger man, may be in his twenties. He was also good. He wanted to focus on how to pass the driving test and I told him that I would like my daughter to learn how to drive and be comfortable. Getting a license was secondary. He did as he was instructed. He spoke English extremely well and I think he grew up in the area. They were always on time. Overall we are really happy with them. read more

Lessons with Allen were awesome! Decent rates, quick email response and super easy to get a slot. They might have a couple of bad ratings in the past but I guess its changing over time. On the other hand, there are schools like ARS that is going downhill. read more

One of the worst driving lessons ever. Good Points; (i) An instructor is always available even during the 'peak' busy season- I wondered why now I know (ii) Cheap. Bad Points: (i) The driving instructor English was awful I couldn't understand a word he said (II) Car was dirty and smelt of cigarettes (III) Gave me incorrect advice at times (IV) Taking an unexpected break (15 min) during a lesson (told me after his break) that this is what driving instructors do. Totally unprofessional. (V) Yelling random comments - I said to him on number of occasion I have no idea what you are talking about. I could not wait for the 'lesson' to be over. I wanted to compare driving schools and took a lesson from this school after I had a lesson with Oxford Driving School. My instructor was very nice but he didn't do much "instructing." I spent 90 minutes of my two-hour lesson driving up and down El Camino. Not a good use of time. We only spent 15 minutes practicing turns and procedures in a residential area, but even then he had me go straight for as long as possible. My biggest issue was that he did not correct my mistakes. He told me about proper technique before I started driving, but he never pointed out to me that I was not using proper technique while I was driving. (I forgot to scan traffic for quite a while on El Camino, I made several right turns without checking my blind spots, I forgot that I was allowed to turn right on red, etc. Not a word from him.) The only comments he made concerned immediate safety issues or his comfort (e.g. breaking too sharply). I came out of the lesson feeling like my driving hadn't improved much at all. Compare that to my lesson from Oxford. We also drove on El Camino, but we pulled off every couple blocks to let me get used to big intersections. Or changed lanes. When we practiced turning, we actually turned at every or every other intersection. The instructor from Oxford was very nice and patient too, but he corrected every single mistake I made. He kept me challenged and I really felt like I learned a lot in 2 hours. (This was my very first time behind the wheel. He said I was ready to go on the freeway in my 2nd lesson!) I would recommend Cupertino Driving School if you only need a car to practice in - it is the cheapest driving school in the area. However, if you are looking for instruction, look elsewhere. read more

Overall a very unpleasant experience. I paid the full $270 payment for behind the wheel lessons the first day of lessons. Unfortunately, the driver lost the money and has contacted me that "I haven't paid the driving school yet". Additionally, my drivers instructor was a whole 30 minutes late to class, when I had a tight schedule. I was late to work because of his tardiness to class. Whenever I call the driving school or email them, no one responds; this was extremely infuriating and unprofessional. The driver did not do a great job of teaching either. He told me to rush through a street even though there was a yield sign. I remember him saying "why are you slowing down? There isn't a stop sign!". Just earlier that week, there was a major car crash on that intersection because a car was speeding through, and my instructor was encouraging this dangerous behavior. Really disappointed, and wold definitely invest in another driving school if I could go back in time. read more

Awful experience, had at least 4 lessons and ready to take the driving test but they just wanted to force me to take more lessons and claimed it as "prepare me well for the test". The instructor even does not know his car well!! They wasted my money and time and I had to turn to another driving school for better service. They even used my personal info to make driving test appointment for other learners without notifying me! For others who still consider this driving school, you can totally refuse to pay the $35 "making driving test appointment for you" fee. Although they claim that they have some "internal resources" in DMV that could get you an earlier appointment, it's just a trick. They use a lot of permit's numbers to make reservations and exchange the appointment date for you. You can even do the same, just try to refresh DMV website for several times in the evening, for sure you will find some earlier appointment slots that you want! read more

This is a great driving school! My son did his first behind the wheel driving with A1 driving school, which charged $90 for 2 hours and then went to Cupertino Driving School for his last two 2 hour sessions. They were great and only charged $80 per 2 hour session. Roger was the driver and he was a great instructor. He was friendly and had a fun car! He went out of his way to help us out on the day of my son't test. My son had forgotten his permit and Roger brought it to our house just in time! It is a Chinese school and they can speak Chinese, but they also speak very good English and were very helpful. We did need a certificate when we completed the 6 hours, and since the first 2 hours were with another school, they did contact A1 Driving School and promptly got us the Certificate! My son now is a good driver, and everything went smoothly at the DMV! Yes, I would use them again in a heartbeat! They are nice people and good at what they do! My instructor was always willing to teach. He liked to let you encounter many special driving cases. Every time, he demonstrated clearly the right way to cope with these special cases. This is very helpful since you have no idea what could happen during your driving test. Then, knowing all the special cases, you won't panic when you encounter them. read more

Before moving to the bay area, I took driving lessons in two schools in other areas but still cannot drive properly. After I moved, my friend recommends me the Cupertino Driving School and my instructor in this school is amazing. She explained everything clearly, helped me correct my mistakes patiently and made my driving practice quite effective. My son just finished his first class and that may be enough. They got started right away and drove quite some distance in the 2 hours. We were a bit concerned by the English since the phone communications were not quite up to the Queen's English, but the price was a lot better than the competitors and my non-Chinese son is fairly fluent in Mandarin (although he didn't let on ). Anyways, no problems with communication. The instructor was clear and thorough. Probably my only regret is that he drove a Prius, and hasn't had to fool with an ignition yet. I used this school for my 15.5 year old daughter for her 6 hours instructor training (that's three 2 hour lessons). Our instructor was Alan, and he seemed reasonably knowledgeable. I was not riding in the car during the lessons, but based on questioning my daughter afterwards the lessons must have gone well. The instructor was also very accommodating (like picking her from school for one lesson). We took the last lesson shortly before the official driving test so she could "polish" her skills. Their phone number is a cellphone used by a lady who coordinates the instructors; we had once a miscommunication about the start time of the lesson but it was resolved quickly. I saw many of the bad reviews and was surprised. In their situation, they might have experienced something bad compared to me. I was recommended by a whole bunch of my friends from the Cupertino area. It is pretty cheap compared to other driving schools and their schedule is very flexible. My instructor was the son of the owner and also the operator of the school (he taught all the other instructors). Not to brag but I already knew a bunch about driving so he did not have to teach me basic skills. Instead he focused his time on telling me what driving instructors look for and also more practical rules. These were VERY HELPFUL. He taught me freeway merging and parallel parking very patiently and cheerfully. The other instructors may not be as good, but I am sure that they will also be informed and patient. Trust me, its a very good school. If you want good instructors, good cars, and good lessons for a reasonable price, this is the place. read more
