For years i've always found myself inside of cups cramming for a test or catching up with friends over a Capitol Street Classic latte. I ordered a doubleshot and was surprised to receive an over-extracted four to five ounce lungo that could have been created in a moka pot. A three to six click tighter grind would have produced my preferred regular espresso. Visited several times while in Brandon; decent coffee, crappy service. I stumbled upon this little coffee shop in the corner of crossgates plaza with the promise of free wi-fi. After sitting my laptop down and going to grab my purse one of the Older women working there asked me if I was going to buy anything, and if not I needed to leave, ( I had literally walked in the door and put my stuff down, and there were only two other people in the shop.) I was greeted by a young lady, and ordered my double americano w/ short pull. Watching her make the drink, she of course made a long pull, but I brushed it off. Let me tell you, someone needs to learn how to calibrate their espresso grinder! It was one of the most over extracted shots I have ever tasted. (If i wanted that burnt taste I'd surely go to Starbucks). Anyways I went back the following week and just stuck with my flavored coffee, and there again was the large women with curly hair, this time she was trying to overcharge the people in front of me, and they turned around and walked out, after telling them that she didn't want their business anyways. What KIND OF STAFF SAYS THAT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS? She should be fired! I thought the whole idea of a coffee shop was to try and bring back customers?! read more

I live in Texas and I dream of Cups. We came in at 11 on saturday and the girl though you could tell she was busy, took the time to explain cups philosophy and coffee process so that i knew my order would meet my needs. I got a snickers iced latte with expresso cubes. I will say that i found the cup used to serve the beverage to be a bit odd, but it was so delicious i didn't care i just wanted more. I'm not a coffee fan, but I accompany my boyfriend and our pups whenever I have nothing else better to do. I usually get their frappuchinos (my favorite being the brunette...although their new Oreo one is pretty delectable as well) or their Italian Cream Soda (strawberry favor) and they are both amazing, especially on a hot summer day. So, if you are not a coffee fan, they have plenty of other delicious options. Also, if you have an Eat JXN card, make sure you show it to the cashier in order to receive a size upgrade without a charge. It is an obvious favorite for locals, as there is always an eclectic variety of customers of all ages and professions. What makes this place even more amazing is that they are very dog friendly (on the patio, that is). flowood cups is the best!!! i go here about 3-4 times at least a week to study in the afternoons. make sure to bring your own mug for a more authentic experience. (my usual cup is the medium roast...favorite is the kenya aa.) however, i'm a big fan of the granitas as well! susan and her baristas are very nice and friendly...they certainly know what their customers want as soon as they walk in the door. another really nice thing about the flowood cups is that there are TONS of electrical outlets so you don't need to worry about your laptop batteries dying. this cups is very student friendly...something that other coffee places in the area can't say. an even better thing? susan's homemade original-recipe muffins and brownies and pound cake! forget the "take out of the freezer and bake" goods, susan's blueberry muffins are delicious. flowood cups...hands down the best cups in the jackson area. fondren comes in second. read more

When I first moved back to the Jackson area I drove by Cups on Old Canton one cold dreary night. The windows were fogged over but the light from inside was so welcoming I knew I had to go there. Over the years it is still my "go to place" to meet friends, to go alone and find a corner in which to chill. In those years, Cups has grown and spread, but the one on Old Canton is still "home". I lived in Jackson for a one year internship back in 05/06 and I remember how much I loved this little coffee house in Fondren. The coffee was great and the atmosphere was awesome. I remember being there during Katrina and "living" in the coffeeshop for about a week while the power was out - spending time watching movies on my laptop.
