Kept screwing up my appointment....and NO I didn't request a "couples" massage
    Rhondi S.

Appointments are a mess, made an appointment for two at 11:00. Get called back saying she made a mistake in scheduling, 11:45 instead. We had obligations and couldn't make the 11:45, was told what about 9:45, I agreed. Get called back, 9:30, ok no big deal. We arrived for our appointment and were given the "couples" room, uhh we need separate rooms, my friend has a jealous wife!! This was an issue, masseuse calls the owner, who made our screwed up appointment said we didn't ask for separate rooms....i said TWO 1 hour massages, if I wanted a couples massage I would have asked for a couples massage. After going back and forth for at least 10" we were given separate rooms. Good god, so stressful!!!! Minus 1 star for the screwed up appointments, minus 1 star for the room mix up, minus 1 star for not even making things right - thanks Michelle, way to run a business!

OMG THE best massage I have ever had!!!!!!!!! You can tell that the owner has amazing energy and as she is doing the massage, you can feel the vibes and her awesome energy. She also seems to know about muscles and stuff, as she could feel where I have an injury. Highly, highly recommend!

Great products and apparel lots of merchandise from apparel to bags to various other items.

During the examination, JoAnn Lepke found a scabby area on my scalp that she said was precancerous. She told me she would freeze it and asked if that was okay. I have had small spots frozen in the past, so I agreed, expecting something similar. Once she began, however, the treatment seemed much more extensive than what I had experienced before and even became painful. As I instinctively pulled away, she explained that the area was not very wide but was approximately an inch long. This was the first time I understood the size of the area on the top of my head that was being treated. I became concerned and asked whether my hair would fall out in that area. She said "possibly." I then asked whether it would grow back, and she replied, "probably." Those answers were frightening. Had I understood beforehand the size of the area being treated and that hair loss was a possibility, I would at least have had an opportunity to ask questions and understand what was about to be done before agreeing to it. What upset me most, however, was what happened when it became apparent that I was scared. Rather than taking a moment to acknowledge my concern or explain things more fully, I was told, essentially, that this was better than having surgery, a scar (isn't a hairless patch on your head a scar as well?), or cancer. While I certainly understand the importance of treating precancerous lesions, that response felt dismissive and condescending at a moment when I was genuinely frightened. Hair plays an enormous emotional and psychological role in how a woman feels about herself. Being suddenly told, during a procedure already underway, that I might lose hair from a noticeable area on the top of my head--and that it would "probably" grow back--was extremely upsetting. I did not need my concerns minimized. I needed information and a little compassion. I am not writing this because I object to receiving necessary medical treatment. I am writing because patients deserve to understand what is being done to their bodies, including meaningful potential consequences, before a procedure begins. And when a patient becomes frightened, especially during something as inherently stressful as skin cancer screening, compassion matters. A few extra minutes of explanation, reassurance, and empathy would have made an enormous difference. Instead, I left an appointment that was supposed to protect my health feeling scared, uninformed, and emotionally shaken. I sincerely hope greater care is taken in the future to make sure patients feel informed, heard, and treated with compassion.

Had them filled and…read moremaintained a couple of times, but one evening a few days ago when on vacation in Kauai, I decided they had to go and proceeded to pry them off with my teeth. My nails were, of course, a WRECK! The next day, my kids and I had ventured to Kapa'a and happened to spot a sign for this place. We parked and went in to see if they had any availability. It was 2pm and there was no one in the salon, so the gal behind the counter said she could get us in right away, that her next appointment wouldn't arrive until 3pm. There was another gal-manicurist there who was getting ready to leave, but she agreed to stay and give my 11yo daughter a manicure. She started on my daughter's while I hustled over to the ATM at Long's because gal #1's credit card machine wasn't up and running. I got back and my gal got started on cleaning/shaping/smoothing my destroyed nails ... she mentioned this new hybrid nail/gel system they had, so I opted to go for that because it doesn't chip/wear away and is supposed to last at least 14 days. She had it on her fingernails and it was still so shiny and perfect-looking, despiting being about 2 weeks old - I was sold, even though the cost was double their normal manicure prices ($50 vs $25). This stuff is called Shellac by CND and it's "cured" onto your nails with UV light - as soon as you're done with your last UV exposure, you can do anything! Scramble around in your purse for your wallet, bang your nails on the table, run them through sand - nothing musses up the finish! Well, almost nothing - apparently if you actively try to file it off, that will screw it up. The gals were friendly enough and we were done in about an hour from walking in the door. Now the traditional manicure cost about double what we'd pay in Seattle BUT this place uses disposable/take-away nail files/orange sticks/buffers, so you're paying for cleanliness, for sure! That can be a questionable part when getting your $30 mani/pedi around Seattle. Ew, I know. Plus this place seemed to be using good lotion, oil and polishes, too. Many were even formaldehyde free. I LOVE the finish on the Shellac system! Now I'll have to find a place in Seattle who does them, I suppose! Especially considering one can't take the stuff off with regular polish remover ... there are some kind of special soaking pads or something. Whatever! I don't like doing my own nails anyway. :) My daughter's manicure hasn't faired as well as mine ... there are some air bubbles under her polish and the nail art on 4 fingers that we paid an extra $10 for was only stickers that were applied a bit wonky, but perhaps it was just an off-day for that one! Still give them a go, if you're in the area and need your nails did. :)
