A group of friends and myself trekked our way to the beach and we were welcomed by friendly Abhi. We placed our mats by the beach and he led us through a wonderful one hour, 15 minute class which included stretching, meditation, and some challenging poses. I attend yoga when I am at home in San Francisco a fair amount (I like vinyasa yoga with a bit of challenge), and Abhi's class was one of my favorite yoga classes that I have ever taken. He was a great instructor and kept the class relaxing and engaging; never once did I feel bored or that it was too difficult. He has a very calm presence and helps you out with your poses as well. I definitely recommend taking his class if you're in Kauai - it's a great workout to start or end a beautiful day on the island! Thank you, Abhi, for amazing yoga on the beach!

It was my husband's and my anniversary so he treated me to the 90 minute outside massage. They give you a locker, towels, a robe, and slippers. The co-ed area has a lap pool, two jacuzzis, and a tiny cold plunge (more like a seat). You can order food from a phone. They had iced tea and flavored water along with nuts and candied fruits. On the women's side there was a sauna and steam room that smelled like eucalyptus and a cold shower if you get too hot and a jacuzzi. There are cold small towels throughout to wipe your head, shoulders, or wherever. You wait in the ladies area before being called into a hall with bathroom along the way and rock waterfall. There's another co-ed sitting room with more tea water and apple bananas and cold small towels with recliner chairs. Then you go into a jungle looking area with small huts where you get your massage. I very much enjoyed my massage and felt like I went to outer space at least twice. I forgot my worries and came to the conclusion that I truly have none worth fretting about. I think service could've been more helpful and friendly. I came the day before to prepare but they only confirmed and did not go out of their way to help me feel welcome. They asked if they could include the service charge (i think about 20-21%) which ended up being $78, total bill was about $390. We're the type that like to tip and even more so bc we want to support the islands and the workers who feel like family to us so of course we don't mind but I can see how some ppl would given that service wasn't all that great (besides the kick-*** massage - no complaints there). In sum, it was perfect but for the price could be better. I still want to come back.

I'm thankful for my wife. Upon arriving i got a nice robe and fresh slides. Sweet! I was shown to the lockers to drop off my personal items. I was also able to store my big luggage in their office. It's so convenient. Everything is so clean. Limitless towels and lemon water and tea. Shaving cream and razors. Lotions and body spray. Each individual shower is lined with lava rock and has its own shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. It's a rain shower. So classy. I spent time in the pool. Then got into the whirlpool so I could get onto the COLD PLUNGE. Oh man, did that feel really good. All aches and pains gone. I did that twice. Then the eucalyptus steam room was very rejuvenating. I did that twice and topped it off with a cool coconut towel as I watched Georgia tech beat Colorado. We were there from 1pm until 7pm and it was an amazing experience. Oh yeah, they also delivered food - we ordered a turkey wrap and Cobb salad. Both delicious and filling and we didn't have to leave our lounge chairs! I felt so lazy and it was magnificent. The service was top notch. If I needed anything at all, staff was there every time. I did the wave massage thingy. Even at the strongest setting it was pretty weak. I'll just go for a human from now on. I highly recommend.

The word magic always seems to find me when I speak about Hale Pule. Coming from a farming…read morebackground, I was drawn to the Vedic living immersion as a way to work doing what I love while also learning about Yoga and Ayurveda which I had rather little previous knowledge of. Before arrival I was given a low down of how life functions there, but of course you can't really understand totally until you are living it. It takes a bit to adjust to how things work, especially if you haven't had any exposure to spiritual living. But once you get over that initial discomfort, you get to truly indulge in the beauty you are living. Hale Pule is a utopia of sorts, with flourishing vegetation and an energy like I have never felt before. The cost however of living in this dreamland, is that you have to face yourself. The environment is meant for healing and self work, not a vacation. All of the women who run Hale Pule are truly incredible, as they carry so much wisdom and make themselves available at all times to help you through this journey of self. The schedule is strict, but intentionally so for nothing other than your benefit. It can be an overwhelming experience at times, as self can often be a mighty monster to conquer, and if you do not allow yourself to open it will only grow harder, but Hale Pule is truly a gift to the world. At the end of my 9 weeks on the farm I felt as if I was a brand new human going back into the world. However, the journey was far from over at my departure. In fact I don't think I really even began to comprehend everything that had began to shift within me until after. Everything learned during my stay continues to develop within me, from the ways of cooking and eating, to the daily practices, to health, mindfulness, and understanding my emotions. He spoke about the meals, the treatments etc. I have always been a believer that what you eat is very important to your body. I searched Amazon for a recipe book on Ayurveda food preparation. Low and behold, Myra's book popped up "Simple Ayurveda Recipes". I like simple, so I bought it last February 2014. Since then I have prepared many dishes, which my tummy welcomes with open arms. I then found out about about Hale Pule through this book and visited the web site. Looking over the various topics, especially food and the retreats offered, I thought this is right up my alley. I am a "searcher" and am always improving on my life's experience, building a lifestyle that makes me feel the best I can possibly be. The time spent with Myra and staff was amazing. The love, kindness and patience practiced at Hale Pule, gave me inspiration. I want to be more like that. I am home now for two weeks, continue to prepare the meals that I enjoyed, as well as the yoga practice. The meditations I learned keep me grounded. I am truly blessed that my husband is also joining me on this journey.
