Cute shop. High prices. I think the TikTok rage for charm bracelets has taken over for the moment. I couldn't afford what I wanted so I caved and got a bracelet. Well you get the parts for the bracelet and put it together at home. Everything came out to less than 25.00. It was a cute activity to do with my daughter. Something we will always remember.

Cure Thrift Shop is a vintage shop that is so well curated and merchandised that the high prices are somewhat forgivable. normally peruse through vintage Ts here bc they are unique and in decent condition. over the years, i have picked up several items here and have yet to be disappointed. the store is well-maintained, clean, brightly lit, and has a bit of character in the way merchandise is organized. all that said, the prices do bend to the higher ends of things BUT there are periodic sales so be patient. tchotchkes tend to be decently priced bc they are eclectic for those looking for interesting decor items. some of the staff are cool. others are meh. that's the story of all retail. avoid the store on weekends as it can be a circus but the store is open relatively late for a thrift store which is a good time to swing through...a win for the nocturnal like me.

Got this place recommended to me by a friend who shared their Harper's Bazaar feature. I'm all in for an antique-y/vintage thrift store moment! And this place gives it just that. The prices are definitely on the higher side but I will give them the fact that this location is a carefully crafted experience. Every piece feels intentionally placed, which was cool to experience. Some of the things I wanted weren't for sale but they shared that could change over time. It changes as seasons and trends do based on a brief convo I had with one of their representatives. Cool and trendy place for sure! Bought some cute rings but might go back for this vintage poodle picture!

Beautiful selection that they have curated here! Antiques and clothes to thrift. Home goods and roller blades and charms. I will say the items were very nice but did seem to be priced pretty high and I personally wasn't really willing to pay for anything that I wasn't amazed with here. That being said, there were definitely unique and amazing pieces still.

    Pricing

Loved making my own charm bracelet! Went on a weekday around noon and it was nice and empty. Great selection of charms plus you can make necklaces and earrings too. All charms are $1 each and the blank chains for bracelets or necklaces are $3. All the supplies you need are there. Only downside is there are no chairs! So be prepared to kneel or stand while you make your jewelry. I took about 45 mins and i felt fine kneeling though. The store itself seemed nice too but I did not look in depth really. Overall a great time and chill ambiance! Highly recommend if DIY jewelry is your thing plus it's so cheap!

Cute selection of quality clothing and accessories. Lots of luxury brands but they also have affordable charms for $1 each versus the other charm places that are literally blowing up and costing $7 a charm so this spot is better as it also donates it proceeds to diabetes type 1 research

L Train has single handedly gotten me more "Damn where did you get that from lil bro it looks…read morefire..." than any other clothing store in Manhattan, and on an inflation buster budget. I'm so sick and tired of going into a "vintage" store where T-shirts are $100 and up. It goes against the whole ethos of vintage clothing smh. The whole fun of shopping vintage is coming up on a piece for the low. Shirts at L train are typically between $8-$15, unless they're hanging up on the wall then they will run you ahahaha. They have such a big inventory and wide selection of items that it may get overwhelming, but if you come in here locked in and keep your composure you will come up on something forsure. Go during the week though if possible, it's a ZOO on the weekends you'll be fighting for your life. I have gotten my 3 favorite pairs of jeans here for under $40 total, the velvet suit jacket I'm wearing in the attached pic for $12, some Lebron 3s that have become my outdoor hoop shoes for $40, and more shirts than I can count. L Train is so great, in fact, that it has almost become cool to hate on. If you're lowkey insecure about your homie having a better fit on than you, you try to get ahead of it and clown him by saying "You hit L Train today, huh?" THANK YOU L TRAIN! PLEASE DON'T SWITCH UP! Overall A - Just have a strategy and you'll have a great day…read more This is my thrift store of choice, but I only go when I have no time limit. I agree with the other Jennifer L.--, wandering a massive thrift store is practically a sport. For me AT is a guilt free pleasure and well deserved break from work. Parking: Avoid the small lot during peak times. Park on the street or in the lot across the street. Pricing: Yes, prices are creeping up, but that's the case for all thrift stores, and this is a for-profit store. I do see some weird "Wheel of Fortune pricing" on random items (like Corning Ware or Vince clothing), but I just let it go. There are still deals to be found, and they are replenishing items all day long. Discounts & Bags: Look at the monitors to see what is 50% off, or snap a pic of the today's sales sign on your way in. A note on shopping bags: yes, they make you check them in. Bring a huge blue IKEA bag, check it in, get your ticket, and grab a cart. Carts disappear fast on busy days. Dressing Rooms & Bathrooms: There are 3 fitting rooms and 2 bathrooms. They will ask you to park your big shopping cart outside because it's a cramped setup, and there is a 5-item max allowed in the fitting room at a time. The Elevators: They are not broken; they are just slow. It's an old factory building, and the elevators are shared with the staff who are restocking all areas all day long. It just requires some patience. The One Change I'd Make: I wish they would hang up some mirrors--at the very least near the coats or scarves. It would save so many extra trips back to the dressing room. Checkout: The line to pay ebbs and flows. It can be winding around the store, or it can have four people total. Even when the line looks scary, it does move. The cashiers are friendly; sometimes one might be having an off day, but that is rare.

All were carefully curated and displayed. My only dismay was not being aware of the important work the shop does as a non-profit before I randomly popped in as I was enjoying a stroll for some "me" time during a busy family trip. The woman with glasses, who I assume was the "manager/owner", was very passive aggressive with me and came off disrespectful and unwelcoming. I overheard her negotiating pricing on some items with other customers and when I was ready with my two vintage cameras (to be used for decor/props) and one pretty beat up purse (all totaling $75 w/o tax), I inquired if they were willing to do $70 for all. I wasn't sure what taxes the city/state charged so I wanted to be sure had enough on my card (a visa gift card a friend gave me when I was diagnosed with cancer) to cover the taxes. She loudly and obnoxiously replied "NO. WE DON'T HAGGLE HERE". I found it repulsive and aggressive when I had been so overly kind and impressed with the shop during my visit. It certainly caught me off guard. Especially after hearing her indeed "negotiate" pricing with other guests. She didn't even make eye contact with me but made sure to speak her words loud enough to try to embarrass me. I was not embarrassed, rather appalled and disgusted. So much so that I recalled other travelers from my party and told them not to come down to the shop. On the other hand, the two male clerks working with me were so kind, lovely and helpful during my visit. Kudos to them for staying pleasant and gracious in that moment that was intended for ugliness. While the encounter at the very end of my trip soured my visit, I would still encourage others to go and I will likely be back again next time. After visiting their website trying to figure out what I did wrong, I see that the work they do is impactful.
