What a great shop. Walked in one day after my children had asked for a bearded dragon for the 3939th time. So knowledgeable, friendly and all the animals appeared well cared for which was my main concern. I didn't want to give a shop money that had animals in poor conditions. Checking out we also a paper with a hatch date and their policy with states even if you didn't buy from them they care about reptiles and to call or email if you need advice. When I had to leave town for the weekend, I had very few friends that would take care of a chameleon! As chameleon owners know, they require more than just good lighting. Thankfully, Curious Creatures was available for boarding. For $10 a day, they had an enclosure, water, light, and food for my chameleon. I was super excited to find a pet store specializing in the care and attention reptiles deserve. However, upon entering this establishment, I was confronted by a condescending "Karen" in a tropical moo-moo. She immediately assumed I had NOT done my research and had NO IDEA what i was doing. Which I didn't appreciate, considering I had done extensive research. I also didn't ask. I simply wanted to make my purchase and go on about my day. I do not need someone with an attitude when I am asking for help. I do not need someone criticizing whether or not I use fresh or frozen mice. I do not need someone treating me like a child when I am a perfectly capable pet owner. I also want to mention this store sells Spider Morph Ball Pythons, which to my understanding, is only possible through cruel breeding. I do want to support this place any longer and I won't be. I don't trust them with my snake, let alone trusting them with the care the other reptiles in-store require. Unfortunately, this one employee has completely ruined the reputation this establishment holds, and I will make sure to pass this information on to any pet owners I know. read more

I wasn't a fan of the support staff here, mainly the owner. During my first visit to look at dragons her disposition and tone were rude, this was similar during the second visit as well. I actually waited awhile to be helped while the owner had a personal conversation with a friend/colleague who stopped in for the day even though I was there before the individual. Similar to others reviews I saw here, the owner makes assumption in her line of questioning and the tone is never good. Amazing resource for all your reptile needs! We were able to get our dream Tree Frogs, everything required to raise them healthily and happily as well as a ton of information on the frogs right here. The staff is so knowledgeable, caring and passionate. They want to make sure people have the right information on how to take care of these creatures properly, and also offer affordable boarding! Buying crickets here is extremely cost effective as opposed to a pet store as well. I'm so happy I stumbled onto this place. I don't ever experience the "rude attitude" mentioned in previous reviews. Reptiles all have a lot of intricate and complex care needs, and they want to make sure people are informed correctly. I did not find them rude, but direct and informative. Really fun place with a huge range of animals! We loved looking around at everything. The woman working there was very nice as well and she even had her dogs with her in the shop! Very cute. My only complaint is that she seemed very rushed and eager to get through my sale. I was there to buy a leopard gecko and some supplies and she was speaking very fast and quizzing me on a lot of information. I understand she only wants her animals to be going to loving owners! But it made me very anxious and she wasn't very calm and welcoming. That's the only reason my experience was a little less pleasant. read more

Our go-to shop for hornworms, crickets and dubia roaches for the cockroach of a bearded lizard we have at home. The shop is always organized, clean and has welcoming staff to take care of creatures which do not always look so welcoming. Despite not being a huge fan of insects or reptiles, this place does not make me squeamish (as much). The store security guard/mascot/door greeter/head Kahuna is actually a turtle who pleasantly roams about. We never mind make the trip from the North suburbs to the city to get our supplies from here. read more

OK, so I'm not much of a Yelper but after only one visit, I was absolutely blown away by this place. Together, my boyfriend and I have six reptiles; four chameleons (two Veiled, a Panther, and a Jackson), a Corn Snake, and a Bearded Dragon (not to mention our two feline friends). As I'm sure you can imagine, we are frequent pet store visitors. Most importantly, I can't say enough about the good health of their animals. You can tell that these are humans who put a lot of time and effort into the care of these beautiful creatures. Their animals are in spaces that are large enough for them to move around comfortably and they all seem very well fed, active, and alert. They even display their vet's business card at the desk right next to their own. That means a lot. They also have a great variety. Not only in the reptile & reptile supply department, but they have so many different kinds of feeders so our scaled companions won't get bored with their meals. Lastly, this place is so clean! Not only is it visually pleasing, but if you blindfolded me and put me in the middle of the room, I wouldn't even be able to tell you it was a pet store by the smell. There's no lingering odor that usually comes with these types of places, which my nose greatly appreciates. We used to make the drive up to Evanston or even to Orland Park to seek out quality reptile-oriented stores, but now I am thrilled to say we finally have one in our own neighborhood, with extremely friendly & knowledgeable staff to go with it.
