I came in March to get a cut so my curls can have a better shape and he did a good job with it. The thing that threw me off was his method of cutting hair. I'm used to stylist cutting my hair curl by curl (the deva curl method) but he grouped sections of my hair together, slid his hands to my ends and cut off hair that was longer than the rest of the bunch. I was hoping to do a curl by curl because, I had split ends I wanted to get rid of but got my shape evened out so that's fine. One thing to note is that he's super heavy handed and pulls on your hair very hard when he's trying to stretch it. I have 4a/4b hair so it may have been harder to stretch, which is why he pulled it so hard but I would've rather him do something else. If you have thin hair or hair that falls out easily, be careful with that. Also, I did not like the products that they used in my hair. I called early to see if they used deva curl they said they used innersense which is perfect because I use it at home. However when I got there, they used this other brand "B curl" (I honestly don't remember). It made my hair soooo dry. I had to wash it out two days later because it was bad. Now, I have dry hair, but I'm used to may hair becoming dry at least 4 days post wash not immediately after. Finally, they don't tell you what they're putting in your hair when they wash it or tell you what they're doing at all. I had no idea if they shampooed my hair because they did not wash my scalp, which was so odd, but I asked the assistant to wash it again and she did it without a problem. I personally prefer being told what they're doing to my hair but to each their own. Overall, they got the job done. I don't plan on coming here again, because I found another stylist that I like. Despite that, I recommend this salon if you 1A-3C hair. They seem to do a better job with those curl types. read more

Ahh where do I start!?! I like to joke that Joseph is one of my longest relationships in this city! Joseph has been cutting and coloring my hair for over a decade. He is fabulous at what he does. Come with pictures of what you're looking for, he'll be honest about what can be done. You are a part of every decision made about your hair. He's not giving you his spin on what you want. He gives you what you ask for. I've had long and short hair. I've been brunette, blonde and in between. Ladies w curly hair! You have to have the dry cut and learn from my mistake early on (I cheated one time!) You get what you pay for! My hair can be curly or straight or the cut could be a month overdue and it always falls right. That's how I know I found the one in Joseph! Magic baby! This is a VERY late review. My appointment was 5/18/2019 at 1110am. I drove on from VA that day to get my hair cut (curly girls know it's super hard to find a reliable hair stylist). I arrived on time for my appointment, Joseph had another client on the chair. I was instructed to sit down and comb my hair. I was a little taken aback by this, but whatever. I figured this was just his process. I sat down and brush my hair till after 12. At this point I'm already turned off because I had been sitting for a long time after my appointment time. The cut- Joseph cut off a lot more than I was comfortable with. There was a huge difference between layers. It has since grown out extremely uneven. I was also left with the horrible triangle head. Color - i was left unattended for long periods of time while Joseph juggled me and other clients. He actually finished with another client while I was left sitting there. My color didn't turn out how I wanted. Styling- it was okay. I didn't particularly like his products. My hair felt like it had a lot of product, it was as stiff and didn't feel nice. I purchased the gel and leave in - just to later throw them out. Overall I paid over $400 to leave completely unsatisfied. It took Joseph over 3 hours to finish with me. I was in the salon over 4 hours. I am not sure how there are so many positive reviews. Will not return. read more

First time I came here was in July 2019, to get my first cut, loved it. Then I went for my second cut on March 5th, i dont know what happened but Joseph made my hair super short, one side shorter than the other, on top of that he charged me more than I should have paid when the website clearly said a price and he threw in "oh it depends on length" which his website never specified. I honestly should have never tipped him or his assistant, he felt so bad he gave me a spray can for my curls. Joseph also seems to focus more on before and after pictures than actually caring for his customers hair. I came here for a consultation with Joseph, was only supposed to be a couple of minutes. My hair was in a severe need for a haircut and some TLC. I asked Joseph when I can come back, he scrolled through his calendar .. I started getting anxious cause I knew it would be a while before I would be able to book with him and he popped up said: "what about now?" I was so happy! He cut off inches of dead ends, and scraggly pieces and finally gave some life and shape to my hair. He gave me a treatment that felt really good on my locs, and softened it immediately. My hair is really finicky and takes some time to form curls when introduced to new products so it didn't have the luscious curls that were on his IG BUTTT, I know that that's something specific to my hair. Incredibly disappointed in this place. I scheduled my appointment over 3 weeks in advance, on one of the only day/times they had available on their calendar. I rearranged my personal schedule to be there on time, which is particularly difficult in COVID times as I'm trying to limit my time outside. I arrived to see that the stylist was handling THREE people in the chair at the same time. While I was waiting, another woman entered for her haircut. After 30 minutes of waiting, we were both seated in our chairs. He told me that he would be with me in 10 minutes. He then went on to begin cutting the other woman's hair while I waited. My appointment was at 1:25pm. I was there at exactly 1:26pm. I was seated in my chair at 2:02pm. I remember all these times because I had to be out by 3pm to get to another appointment. I finally left at 2:15pm while he was still in the process of cutting the other woman's hair, even though he promised he would get to me and get me out the door by 3pm. I don't care. If I'm there at 1:25, I should be in the chair no more than 15 minutes. What a waste of time. If I have to schedule 3 weeks in advance for your time, THEN YOU BETTER ACTUALLY HAVE TIME FOR ME WHEN I ARRIVE. read more
