Jason Sphinx is my friends tattoo artist. We would describe his ink style as traditional/old school Americana with a Japanese influence. His lines and illustrations are very detailed and his freehand color work and shading are exquisite. Very clean and relaxed environment with a Quentin Tarantino-esque vibe. Daniel Dagones and the whole crew at Current Tattooing are professionally, artistic and friendly. The shop has a cool vibe, there have been several artists working every time I have been to the shop and I have been addressed immediately every time I walk into the shop. Amazing place, amazing crew! Everyone here is super down to earth and friendly. It is very clean and professional. I had a simple tattoo, that was done elsewhere, redone because it faded and was written backwards (don't ask) ‍ , and I think he did a great job. Happy Cory could fix it especially with the mess he had to deal with. He didn't charge much either. Moral of story...don't get a tattoo from a craigslist ad from a guy named Rooster. Young dumb mistake!! read more

I made this account just to leave a review - Nick is the best tattoo artist I have ever met! I came in with some friends from the east coast and it had been 3 years since we met. We each wanted 2+ tattoos each and came as walk-ins. Nick took the time to talk to each of us and tell us how our tattoos would look based on size. We felt really comfortable with him - it was my best friends first time getting a tattoo and she was very very happy with her experience. I have a tattoos in the double digits and I have never had such a comfortable experience. Highly recommend 10/10. I've been wanting a tattoo for a very very long time, and I finally decided to go with this place, particularly with Jason. I followed several tattoo artists, followed the #bayareatattooartist hashtag on instagram, looked on Yelp and Facebook reviews and finally went with this place because Jason had an awesome style and the reviews for this place were solid. I pinged Jason on instagram to ask him some prelim questions like how the process works, down payments, stuff like that and he was super helpful and patient with me about it! I sent him a picture of what I was interested in and went in for a consult, and he talked to me about where I'd want it done, how big I'd want it, when I'd be available, how long each session would take, etc. The first consult took about a half hour and I paid a deposit, which went towards my final total. Second consult, he showed me the sketch and size so I could see where it would go. The first session for the outline was fairly smooth, took only an hour or so after filling out a bunch of paperwork, and he gave me some basic instructions and antibacterial soap for taking care of it. Second session, he warned me would be a bit more painful since we'd be going over the skin multiple times, but also only took a little less than 2 hours. I have to say that the final product looks AMAZING. It hasn't quite healed yet, but Jason has been super responsive any time I had any questions about taking care of it or anything. And honestly, he's such a chill dude that I felt really comfortable with him. Also, everyone who works at this location are super friendly and nice, so I felt at ease every time I was here. Would definitely recommend coming here for a tattoo and I'm already dreaming up my next one! read more

Had a great experience as a walk-in client. We met up with Mike, new artist from LA, gave him a design I wanted and he provided me with a consult and price and the rest of my experience was amazing. Super friendly and great customer service. He really cares about the work he puts out there, rather it be his own original designs or something you got from Pinterest. Watch out for the girl named Baylie everyone!! She took my money and left, and now she works there. she scheduled me for August 4th of 2021, I gave her a deposit of 200 on July 2nd and a week later I canceled my appointment with her since she never bothered to work on sending me a design that was promised ( basically she did nothing ) and decided that it was her right to keep the deposit, even though my appointment wasn't until August 4th. I don't know how she can live with herself! Shameful and disgusting!! You are a disgrace!!! read more

What? I never reviewed current tattooing?! I might be the kind of guy who has to wear suit for work but I also have over 80 hours of tattoos on my body...and I do strongly recommend this place! The studio itself is big. There are 2 large tattooing areas. Nicely decorated, it's super clean, great vibe! I get my work done by Ike, a great and friendly artists who is really good at realistic tattoos. I sometime just book my appointment by SMS. The staff is helpful and friendly. Recommended for small simple first tatts as well as elaborated work! read more

A few months ago my sister and I planned on going to another shop, but when we got there they didn't have space that day. We went on yelp and Current Tattooing was the first shop that came up. We went here and she got a sick ass tattoo on her arm from Mike. I went back later and he did the most insane tattoo of a luna moth on me. I just got my second one done by him last night. Mike is extremely talented and never fails to impress me. The shop itself is super nice and spacious. I highly recommend this place. read more

Great shop!! Location is super easy to find with plenty of parking access nearby. Hours are very flexible with a variety of artists to book with. Really good vibe in this shop too - could probably spend the day here just hanging out! Customer service is non existent. Casey specifically is useless - I go in for my first tattoo. He asks me to leave my cell no for the artist- Cory to call me back. Also to send Cory a message on Instagram..3 days later and no phone call or Instagram message later- I call the shop. I speak with Casey - he tells me if I'm in a rush maybe speak with 3 other artists - whose names he mentioned (and I forget right now). I repeatedly asked him to give my number to them- so I could talk to each of them, decide who is the best fit and move from there. He refuses to do that - which is what he suggested 3 days ago (he said you should talk to diff artists and see who is the best fit). Completely confused I hang up because he refuses to have the artists call me. Because he doesn't want all the artists to talk to me and wonder who I will pick. This is the Bay Area - there's fierce competition for businesses. With customer service like this, please pick another tattoo place. read more

Went to this shop and had an amazing time! My twin and i both got tattoos and LOVE them. Casey did mine and he was loud !! hella cool amazing vibe and i felt so comfortable. This is my first tattoo in 30 years. I was extremely anxious about it, but knew it was something I had to do. Che Carrasco was recommended to me by my sister in law. He was quick to respond to all my newbie questions prior to the appointment. He never made me feel inadequate for having next to no tattoo experience. He calmed my nerves and was so kind to me and very gentle. He also gave me a beautiful piece of art that keeps my friend with me always. Before I made an appointment with Current Tattooing, I went in first to inquire about my tattoo and was greeted by a friendly tattoo artist named Mikey. He gave me a bit more information about the process and gave me a card. A couple of days later, I decided I really wanted to get this tattoo. I called the tattoo shop and made an appointment within 30 minutes! I thought wow this is great! Luckily, this place was only about a 5 minute drive from my place. Parking can be found either in a near parking lot or in the street. I had my appointment at around 5-6ish and it was kind of hard doing a parallel parking in the street just because of all the cars coming and not yielding to you even though the light is red and they just want to block you off... Anyway, I went in and found out that the person I talked to was Mikey! I was glad it was him because we had prior rapport. I showed him my ID and was given forms by another employee. Took me about 5 minutes to fill it all out and gave the forms back. I waited for about 10 minutes in the waiting room for Mikey. I showed him what I wanted and printed the tattoo that I wanted. After re-sizing it, he told me the estimate ($80) which I thought was reasonable so I gave the go ahead. He escorted me to the back behind the counter and put on a temporary tattoo to see how it looked like. I appreciated how he asked not one, but two of his co-workers to see how it looked! When we finalized the tattoo, I laid down and he sanitized me as he prepared. We made small chats and I was surprised to find out that he's only been doing this for two years! I wasn't scared but I was astonished that he was knowledgeable with his line of work that I thought he's been doing this for at least 5-10 years. The whole process of tattooing me was about an hour including sketching and being inked. He gave me instructions on how to take care of it and gave me his card which I thought was the coolest business card I've ever seen. If I do decide to get another tattoo, I'd love to come back here! read more

My friend suggested me to Ike because she had done a majority of her gorgeous and flawless tattoos before. I set up my appointment last winter for a mandala piece, all blackwork and I couldn't be happier with the result. I drew a sketch for Ike to work with and he went above and beyond, he added his personal touches and considered my opinion if changing things would look better than my original idea, which as an artist you want your work to be completely cohesive. Ike has also done my sleeve and I know for a fact that I'll be coming back multiple times in the future for other pieces. Also, the rest of the staff is friendly and they all specialize in their specific style from portraits, Americana, tribal and Polynesian, and many of these artists are extremely skilled and versatile that they could work with incorporating other styles and embracing it flawlessly. These guys are friendly as hell and the place itself is creative and very cool. I refer all my friends to go here to get work done and they've all been extremely satisfied. He took his time to walk me through everything: from what to expect, breathing techniques, possible pain levels, and made sure everything was perfectly aligned before starting. When we were about to begin, he and the rest of the staff at the shop hyped me up (thanks everyone!). And as soon as he started? I felt nothing. Sin was quick, precise, detailed and very light handed. I was originally only going to do half of my back piece in two sessions, but then we ended up staying late and finished it all in one night. 4 hours, a couple 15-minute breaks and a whole finished piece later, and I was absolutely amazed at how great of a job he did! I still have a few touch ups and cross to add, but wow! So far, I'm already in love with my tattoo. I've gotten tons of compliments on the crisp lines and intricate details he did! Sin is an amazing artist, I highly recommend you check out his work and set up a consultation. This amazingly talented artist, Airu (@honeybeetattoo_airu) doesn't usually do touch-ups or add color (after so many years later). But considering we went to her to mark the year my healing began, it was extremely important to go back to her to commemorate what I was celebrating that day - the official end to my breast cancer journey. Airu is the first and only female artist that tatted me. She is kind, friendly, meticulous, and clean. When she heard about the reason for doing this, she made the exception to make it happen.
