We just had one of the best meals I've had in years! Truly! I had the bone in ribye with fries and fresh green beans, my girlfriend had the full salmon salad, on the patio, with the zolo Malbec. We wanted good food, nice atmosphere and a good beer or two. And we sorta found it. We ordered the calamari as an app and id pass on it. It was slimy and a little under cooked. And they gave you a sweet and sour type of sauce for it....for dinner My wife had the Stroganoff, she gave it 3outa 5, and I got the special, a Marlin fillet along with mashed potatoes, cole slaw and corn on the cob. I would give it 4outa 5. The service wasnt the greatest but the food made up for it. Ill be back. read more

We've had great service, good beers on tap, nice wine selection and a great happy hour every time we've been. This is one of our dinners out when we visit Salida. On our last visit, they ran out of the fish tacos special, but were able to substitute it with grilled cod, and it did not disappoint. Dissapointed. Seven of us dined there. Stroganoff had way too much pepper, almost inedible. Two of the three steaks ordered were 2 to 3 off on the temperature so had to send back. No wow factor at this place. The iced tea wasnt even good. I am really surprised it had so many good ratings. We went to Current's for dinner on 1-27. Our server was very personable and efficient. My wife and I each had steaks and they were cooked perfectly. A little pricey but would recommend this place to friends traveling to Salida. This was our last night in Salida before spending the next couple day's in Buena Vista. A nice final meal in town. If we hadn't already eaten at Laughing Ladies, around the corner, I think we'd have been even more impressed with Currents. We had an appetizer of ahi tuna, which was very nice. It was on a bed of seaweed salad, which was good, but lacking the usual dressing. For an entree, we split their special, a New York strip steak with a soft-shell crab on top. The steak was more medium rare than the rare we ordered, but still very good. The softy was great, and I found it complemented the steak very well. I had a double IPA, which was just about what I expected. I also had a porter, which was very good, with a distinct chocolate note. Service was very attentive, though I distracted the server asking about beers, and he forgot to ask my wife what she wanted to drink. read more

WOW! We walked in a felt comfortable! We came in for lunch on a hot day in Salida and we left smiling! The service was great! The atmosphere was small town friendly and the place was busy! The owner came to our table and told us the specials and made sure we had drinks! We chose the tuna appetizer and the Smoked Salmon Salads for our main meal! Our waiters were very prompt and friendly! Presentation of meals were beyond amazing! The tuna was one of the best sushi plates we've had (crusted with sesame). If you are looking for great seafood and awesome beer, Currents is the place to go! My boyfriend and I LOVE this place. Crab cakes are amazing! Burgers are amazing! In short: good food, good service, limited menu, terrible ambiance. We came here while visiting Salida because the website advertised sushi on Tuesday nights and sushi is one of three foods my 4-year old eats. Unfortunately, once we got there, we were told that they had decided to take a break from Tuesday Sushi for a few weeks, so my daughter had to make do with an extremely kid-unfriendly grilled cheese made with really thick bread, which she didn't eat. We were excited to see that kids' meals had the option to come with a veggie instead of fries. Unfortunately, the only veggie was corn on the cob, which she also doesn't eat. They did bring her a bucket of crayons, so that kept her happy throughout the meal. Knowing it was a seafood restaurant, I was in the mood for seafood, so I was disappointed to find that the only seafood entrees were fish & chips and some kind of pasta, I think (the entrees don't show up on my mobile version of the website). There were also two steak options: a sirloin and a ribeye. I had the fish & chips, which was very good, crispy and not at all greasy. My husband had the grilled ribeye, which was fantastic, with a great smoky flavor. The restaurant is dominated by its large bar and it was incredibly noisy (and this was early in the evening). Soon a musician showed up and drowned out some of the chitchat with even louder music. I had thought we were safe from live music because the website said that was on Wednesdays. Clearly, the website is not to be trusted. All I can say for the live music is that at least it drowned out my kids' whining. Our waiter was very attentive and our food came out quickly. I just probably would have enjoyed it more if it were the food I had been craving and if conversation were remotely possible. read more

Wandered into this place around 5:00 for dinner killing time before a movie in Salida. We were greeted immediately and service was outstanding throughout the apps, drinks, dinner, dessert and coffee. Initially there were only a few others tables full and a few people at the bar but the ambiance was still good. The place quickly filled up and there was great energy. The warm spinach dip with grilled pita bread was excellent - lots of yummy garlic. Lots of local Colorado micro breweries to choose from which my husband liked. I ordered the burger of the day with had a tasty but not-spicy Cajun sauce. Husband had a ham/pesto sandwich which the warmed up for him when requested. Finished off by sharing a huge, warm, homemade brownie topped with ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate and carmel sauce. Great meal and great experience! read more

Outstanding meal! The Bloody Mary is to die for - perfect spice and almost a meal in itself with 2 large green olives, a pickle, a hot pepper, a slice of squash and a stick of celery. I did Grey Goose - never use well booze for drinks like this. The blue cheese lettuce wedge would also work as a meal by itself. I think the dressing was a creamy-ish balsamic vinegret (I think - whatever it was it was great). Topped with an abundance of real crisp bacon. Mmmmmm! Topped it all off with the fried chicken served on garlic potatoes. Will return when in town again. read more

We ate there two successive nights. They are open late, the servers (Johnna and Gina) were very friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. My wife had the bangers and mash - pheasant sausage that was moist and delicious! Awesome pork chops for me one night, fish tacos the next.. Mussels as an appetizer. Really tasty, even my picky 4 year old ate almost an entire full sized burger with house made mozzarella and balsamic reduction.. the staff were really friendly, and helped me find the gluten free items in the menu easily. Wonderful wines and beers too. read more

I love Currents! Not only do they have great food but they're really nice to you too! My favorite dishes include their seafood pasta which is loaded with shrimp,mussels and calamari in a light garlic butter sauce and their burgers and onion soup are the best ! But, don't bypass their specials, often fresh fish on a bed of various risottos that are beyond yummy! Currents also manages to have awesome bands later in the evening! read more

Our 1st time to eat here and what we chose was delicious. We went for an early dinner between 4-5 pm on the 1st day of FibArk so downtown near the river part of town was busy with lots of pedestrians but got a nice table on the patio in a cool shady area. After reading other reviews I decided on the Beef Stroganoff and our waiter suggested the seafood pasta dish, can't remember the name, that had mussels, shrimp, calamari, and the best angel hair pasta and sauce. We also got a spinach salad which had a delicious blue cheese, nutty topping and dressing. Our waiter suggested getting half orders on the salad and seafood entree since they were big portions and we thought that was a great thing to offer on their menu. Everything was so delicious and service was the best. I'm already craving the seafood dish and some of the other items we had a hard time deciding on! I am looking forward to eating my leftover stroganoff for lunch today. We will be back to eat at Currents and after eating at many restaurants in Salida, since we live in nearby Buena Vista, it is now on my favorites list of restaurants. read more
