Historically relevant and of great value the Curry House is a worthwhile attempt by Key West's League of Women to share with visitors facts about influential inhabitants of the island. We learned many interesting stories about the house and society in the late XIX. The League should be commended for the efforts put into preserving history and sharing it with visitors. Well done!

Our first time to Key West and our first stay in a B&B. Adorable 3 story house just a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street and the harbor = perfect location. We stayed in room 8 on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the pool. Room is exactly as pictured, spotlessly clean! The only complaint I have about the room was the hard bed! (A foam topper would be perfect for it) Breakfast was served early, only caught it one of the mornings we were there - eggs Benedict, hash browns, and fruit, YUM! Sangria at happy hour. What more could you want?! I would most definitely stay here again next time in Key West!!

The Curry house was a nice stay. The pool was great, it could use some maintenance of the pool liner - would not suggest sitting on the ledge with an expensive swim suite on. The grill was perfect and looked like it had never been used. This house was close enough to the store to pick up food and beverages. We enjoyed being able to make lunch at the house. We had no problem getting taxis or walking to most of our designations. We did rent a car for 2 nights and was able to find free parking one night and then a paid parking lot very close to the house. While it is labeled a B&B the breakfast was a bit lacking. Sometimes it was late being put out and then other times it would disappear without so much as a "last call". The first day they had everything out fresh fruit, cereals, milk, muffins, etc. By the last day of our 7 days stay there was 1 boiled egg left and a couple of yogurts. We had a group of 6 and I know other rooms in the house had guests, this would be my only major complaint. Our room (number 8) was perfect. The AC worked great, the shower was very nice, and had great water pressure. We did have to ask for fresh shower towels mid-week and the ladies cleaning were able to help us. Each day they did have fresh pool towels out. Over it was a wonderful vacation and we would stay at the Curry house again.

    Leftover toiletries from prior guests

We arrived at the Curry House around 7 pm on Wednesday, past the time when staff would be on site. Upon entering the room, the first thing we noticed was that a lightbulb was out. Another lightbulb was flickering in the bathroom. On the balcony there was an ashtray full of cigarettes and cigars on the table. We ignored these things cause we figured they'd be taken care of the next day when housekeeping came. When we arrived back in our room the next afternoon after housekeeping had come, none of the above problems were taken care of. On top of that, the dirty towels we used had not been replaced, the unused towels were also stained, there were leftover toiletries in the shower from the prior guests, the plastic water cups had not been discarded or replaced, the coffee cups had not been taken out of the room, the trash can had not been emptied, the bathroom had obviously not been cleaned, and lightbulb not replaced. The only "cleaning" that had been done was the top blanket folded back over the bed. Obviously not changed either. Spending just 20 more minutes cleaning the room would've made a world of difference but it seems like the absolute bare minimum is good enough at the Curry House. Annoyed but knowing we were leaving the next day we tried to make the best of it. Then later that evening the ceiling started leaking. Both in the bedroom and in the bathroom. We were on the second floor, this is not a leak from the roof. We ran downstairs, no one was around. We called the after hours number that was posted and there was no answer just a message saying it's past 6pm when they would normally answer phones. I pulled up the original Vacasa email and called them which again went unanswered. Emailed the address in the email which was unanswered for over 2 hours. Called a number listed on the welcome sheet. Again unanswered. At this point water is consistently dripping through the ceiling and we have towels and the ice bucket down. I even reached out on twitter to Vacasa to try to alert someone to the problem. We finally were able to get the innkeeper on the phone and she asked how bad it was and said to just put some towels down. She said it is a known problem and they were going to have someone out to fix it this weekend. Nothing more was offered. The last thing I'd expect to have to do on vacation is to deal with a dirty room with a leaking ceiling - all while paying over $200 a night. This has been an incredibly disappointing experience and I'll never book anything through Vacasa again. Customer satisfaction does not seem to be a priority to this company and you're better off looking elsewhere for lodging. We've since called and emailed Vacasa several times about this only to be ignored.

Convenient to get to the restaurants and bars on the other end of Duval with a 15-20 minute walk. Appreciated that they had parking on site, and they rent bikes for $15 a day, which makes for getting to Key West attractions easy. The included breakfast is remarkably varied for a smaller location with hot and cold options. Great way to save some on the food bill. We'd definitely stay here again.

This impressive Queen Anne Victorian style house was designed as a one-bedroom mansion. What it lacked in bedrooms it more than made up for with its open water views, elegant public rooms, two story balconies, and large stained glass windows to catch the ocean breezes. little bit of History piece: William Curry came to Key West, from the Bahamas, penniless. He became a wrecker and with his massive fortune, built eight mansions in Key West and became Florida's first millionaire. His daughters wed wealthy men as well. One of his daughters, Florida Euphemia, married Judge Vining Harris. Interesting Fact: Electricity was a novelty and a luxury in the 1890's. Mrs. Harris wanted the best and was able to engage Thomas Edison to oversee the electrical design and installation for the house.

The pluses include a beautifully maintained courtyard and pool area with all manner of palms and tropical plants that are very well cared for, and a pool that manages that Goldilocks just right magic of being refreshingly cool during the day and almost bath water warm at night. Whatever temperature you're looking for it to be, it is. So many hotel pools and the keys aren't heated at all, which they really need to be in order to be comfortable in the winter season, and others are overly hot so they aren't comfortable during the daytime. This one is perfect, and azure blue. La! I found the bed extremely comfortable and the room very well kept and clean, although I can see where many travelers would find it cramped. We wound up in room 13, which I think probably offers the quietest location within the complex as well as a slightly more sizable room than some of the others. My husband found the noise from the neighboring pub distracting when trying to fall asleep, but I thought the room was incredibly well soundproofed considering the amount of hustle and bustle in this busy tourist area. You will also hear airplanes taking off and landing here, but you also hear them everywhere elseon the island, and with the window air conditioning unit on high fan at all times I found the city noise was almost entirely drowned out. The ceiling fan, however, was unbalanced and when we had the repair person come look at it he said it's fine, which is certainly wasn't. My only disappointment in our visit was that the breakfast that were included were pretty meh. I've been spoiled on staying at b&B's where the breakfast was a huge part of the experience, and here I felt like every single breakfast we had I could have made much better at home. Especially in Key West where there are three creperies within a 3 minute walk of each other, the breakfast game is strong, so when you aren't bringing your a game it really shows. The manager of the facility and most of the staff were incredibly friendly and seemed to truly enjoy and take pride in their work, which made our experience extra enjoyable. We also enjoyed chatting with fellow guests in the charming breakfast nook and comfy poolside seats. We stayed here for four nights and stayed at the far more expensive Southernmost Beach Resort for one night during our recent visit, then spent a week with friends who live in the area. The room was much larger at Southernmost, but much more problematic and less painstakingly cleaned, and radically less soundproofed than our room here. On a future visit we would stay two extra nights here for the same price.
