I got naan and lamb rogan ghoshtak and my friend got one of the dishes with potatoes in it. She mentioned the potatoes were colder than the rest of the dish. My food had good flavor and the lamb was not chewy, but it was nothing special especially for the price of $20. The naan was inconsistently cooked. Out of the 4 pieces one of them seemed a little raw still with the moist dough clearly visible in the middle. I think there are other places with better quality and value in the cities and would probably not come here again. The restaurant itself seems more geared towards being a take out joint which makes sense given the name, but we wanted to eat in after walking in from the cold and they had booths and tables to sit and eat at. However, it was still pretty cold inside and when they served the food it came in takeout containers with the lids closed. They gave plastic cups, utensils and plates. The guy working was nice, he was the only one at front of house so he did answer a phone order in the middle of taking our order. read more

I tried this place for the first time today and really liked what I had. The lamb rogan ghoshtak (medium spice level) was very flavorful. The Peshwari naan also had a wonderful flavor and texture. The portion size was such that I'll have probably two additional meals from the leftovers, so a good value. I look forward to a return visit! read more

First of all, this is the cutest restaurant around with lovely outdoor and indoor seating. Right when you walk in you are greeted and welcomed (I felt at home immediately). This has been on our list to try so we did an online order for pick up. Ordering online was easy and our food was ready on time. I love love love samosas! I don't even care if my husband wants one or not. I just immediately order them. These samosas are large and can be spilt between two people. However, they were quite bland and the chutney was watery. For entrees, we went with the rice bowls. I went with the lamb Rogan josh. This is one of my go to curries but this was again very bland. The lamb itself was cooked beautifully and tender though. I probably should've paid more for spice. My husband got the spicy chicken vindaloo and apparently his was so unbelievably spicy!! Now we really like spice and have fairly high tolerances but my husband was just sweating. He said his curry was dry and almost powdery but Sooo spicy. So apparently you can get no spice or stomach ache level for spice? The rice bowls come with so much rice! Good for me because I like rice. But if you don't like rice, I would recommend just getting the curry. They also give you a little piece of naan. It was on the thinner side when comparing naan. Luckily we always have frozen naan so I can heat up some fluffy naan to go with my leftovers. Overall, curry in a hurry was decent. But definitely not my favorite Indian food in the twin cities. They do have some patio seating so that you can enjoy your curbside pickup there and it looked like they weren't doing any indoor dining at this time. My sister brought us takeout from Curry in a Hurry our first week having our baby home, so it holds that memory for us The first thing I noticed were the takeout containers, and how equip they were for the cuisine they were carrying (might sound lame but some places just throw things in a flimsy package, you know?) We had the Chana Saag, Salmon Biryani bowl and Chicken Tikka (you've got to). I almost never order vegetarian but the Chana Saag was calling and wow, it hit the spot! The hot sauce that came on the side was pretttty hot, for other people's sake I'm glad it was on the side. Like others have said, the bowls are 75% rice, by the time it's delivered to your house the sauce has been completely sopped up by the rice, the chicken was dry af and when they say you get naan with your bowl, you get a tiny slice of naan. Currently their indoor dining isn't open. But take out and to go is. Quick easy order placement. And my food was out within 10. If you are looking to support local, family owned and fill your hungry belly come to this spot! You will not regret it. I recommend the garlic naan, and mango lassi with anything you get. We were so disappointed by our first order from Curry in a hurry. Our papadums were burnt and broken, and completely inedible. I had a Josh Rogan bowl and my husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala bowl. They were both lackluster in flavor and spice. The bowls were mostly rice, and the aloo pakora was limp and missing salt. The only bright spot were the spicy piyaju. There were overdone, but the onion and spice was quite good, and paired well with the mango chutney. Overall was very disappointed. read more

This is Ruhel Islam's new place. I hadn't been to his old restaurant, Ghandi Mahal, which burned down during the riots last summer. This place is open for takeout and delivery now. We loved the bowls that we got. The food was delicious, they got our order right and it stayed nice and warm until we got home. I regret having to do a one star review. I almost made it 2 or 3 stars because I know and like the owner and others there. But, our experience over the last year or two is what it is. We have ordered from here about once every week or two mainly to help keep them in business and because of what they don't put in the food. The quality of the food is all over the board. Sometimes our order is waay too salty, sometimes not. Sometimes really spicy, sometimes not. We've had burned papadam, burned or soggy pakora. The breaking point is: too often our order is just plain wrong. I mean, how hard is it? If our order is messed up 10%-20% of the time, how many orders are getting messed up in a week? We order the same thing nearly every time! Three dishes and a couple appetizers. Doesn't matter. The number of times over the last year things have been forgotten in the order or messed up is unreal. Each time I call. They always refund the money, but that's not the point. Get the goddamn order right. This last time, they forgot one of the three dishes, the pakora were burnt, and some idiot dumped about a half-dozen tubs of tamarind sauce ON TOP OF THE PAPADUM IN THE BAG. We had a bag full of sauce we didn't order, and papadum crumbs. What this means is They Don't Care. So, I had to ask myself: if they don't care about something as simple as this, what else aren't they paying attention to? What else are they being careless about? We used to go to the restaurant for lunch all the time before the pandemic and then its burning. We were so sorry to see and hear that. We were, are, friends with the owner. He's involved in lots of other things and maybe that's the big culprit here. Nevertheless, we're looking for a new place to give our business to. read more

Some of the food is tasty and comforting, but... I sometimes test my blood sugar and both times I've eaten here, my sugar has gone sky-high. It's never gone high (or even close) any of the times I've eaten almost the same dishes at the nearest competitor restaurant. We have now been cheated twice by Curry in a Hurry. We will not be back. When we order on-line they sneak in an extra charge on the bottom. A couple of months ago it was called "tip." Just today it was called "Fair labor payment" or some such, so same as before with different label. My wife ordered both times. She didn't notice the "tip" but has been looking for it to uncheck it or whatever. They seem to have slipped in a different labeled charge this time, so it got by her again. Ghandi Mahal is one of the most amazing places I've been, and my loyalty to that place is anchored. However, I've now had "Curry in a hurry" twice, and unfortunately the quality of the food has drastically gone down. If you want to financially support Ruhel Islam (which I do) it's still be worth buying from here. But, expect to have to recook all the food in actual spices since they come sans spice (and definitely without any layered spices) and potentially refry your own samosas as they have a tendency to come soggy (though tolerable). if you have ever had remotely decent Indian food and want to replicate the experience I'd recommend somewhere else. If you have never had any Indian food before and don't need a good first impression, or just need a quick eat, this is the place for you. read more

i was a big fan of Gandhi Mahal, and was grateful when Curry in a Hurry opened as a temporary space for this restaurant. the last two times I ordered carry out- i ordered the same thing both times- rogan josh lamb- the quality was poor. one time poor could be an off night. two times poor, sorry but i will not be back. The dish tonight was so salty i considered tossing it. The lamb chunks that used the make the dish were thin and soup-like. The previous time, the lamb was fatty and rubbery consistency. i will no longer recommend this restaurant or buy food there. read more

My family and I have been coming to Gandhi Mahal for many years prior to the George Floyd riots. Since the riots we have also been supporting their new location, Curry In A Hurry in the Seward neighborhood. I have to say however, the quality of the food has really gone down. The layered spice flavor is all but gone and now one has to order hot sauce separately (at an added cost) to give a dish any spicy heat. Prior to making this recent change (with needing to add hot sauce to each dish) on three previous orders - it didn't matter if I ordered medium or hot spice, the dishes were all so hot you couldn't even taste the flavor of the food. Tonight, we also ordered a samosa with our meals and the samosa was not even crisp on the outside. It was soft - not fully cooked. I truly hope they find a new location to rebuild a more permanent sit-in restaurant and return to the quality food they are known for. I will have to wait until then before I order again because I can no longer support the quality coming out of Curry In A Hurry. In addition to the poor quality, there is now an added 15% charge to every order. Per their website: "In order to support fair wages for all of our employees, a 15% sustainable wage fee is added to all orders in lieu of tipping." My thought is, tipping is for service when you sit in a restaurant. When you are rushing out poor quality food, there really is no service to tip for. Used to love this restaurant and Indian take away. However, the menu has changed very recently and they now do bowls and a la carte for dinner with portion sizes. The small is ridiculously (crazy) small; the large which was their usual size with rice now comes with no rice, and it costs a lot more! Additionally, if you want to have it spiced up i.e. medium or hot, you have to purchase the medium or hot sauce by 2oz sizes; resulting in you having to stir in the spice sauce into your curry. Why cannot one order the spice level in advance like before and/or other restaurants. We ordered a take away last weekend (with no rice or bread) costing over $75 for 3 dishes and a medium spicy sauce. Got home and found one of the curries missing though they gave us twice 2 2oz cartons of medium spicy sauce (which by the way was not spicy at all). Extremely disappointed since we have always frequented this restaurant and when it burnt down in May 2020 and reopened as a take away only we were happy to support it. It was our favorite Indian foodie. Not anymore...will need to find another local. read more
