Fantastic authentic food + kind service + unique ambience…read more Best tasting food. Hands-down quality ingredients in flavorful absolutely everything I've ordered It's been almost decadent 1010 almost every time I go. Kind people work there, quality of the food exemplary, and the taste like gets homemade and made from scratch The only odd thing you can say is that the atmosphere itself is authentic and it's authenticity often lends to the experience, which you can tell I have not remodeled that home in which they've built in over 30 years and they haven't needed to touch the decorations or the building because the quality of the food speaks for itself. It's not new. It's not bougie and it's fantastic. I have never, but I'm not opposed to sitting down and eating there personally, and my invitation certainly was brought up tonight as I ordered my food to go. I sat there, wishing I hadn't ordered it to go since I was enjoying the smells coming from the kitchen and the conversations and interactions I had with The workers who are so thoughtful to ask me about my dietary restrictions and desires

The food here is wonderful. The dishes have so much flavor and smell so delicious. The only thing…read morethat I don't like is the very outdated interior of the restaurant - and exterior too. The roof and surrounding plant areas look like they need some work. Overall, this is a great Indian food place to visit!

Our daughter is vegetarian, and on a quick trip up to St. Paul we were looking for a unique dinner…read morecuisine option we don't have in the southern metro. She selected Taste of Nepal. It was dark outside when arrived and we missed the turn on the first pass. The parking lot is very small and the front of the restaurant doesn't face Rice St. As other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant itself was rather small, probably only offering seating for a couple dozen people at most. Ambiance isn't something you're going to go to this restaurant for. While they had main and side dishes I was familiar with, they also had dishes I wasn't as familiar with. We ordered the samosas to start and they came out fast and were delicious. I ordered the chicken biryani since other reviewers spoke so highly of it. For context, this was my first time having Nepalese food. It appears there are differences between the spices typically used in Nepalese food that aren't typically used in Indian dish equivalents (or perhaps not to the same extent), but I didn't care for the strong blend of seasonings in the dish. At first it was hard to place what spice it was until I bit into a clove, and that's when I realized that was the flavor profile I wasn't expecting in the biryani that I was enjoying. It's safe to say that I was expecting more of a tumeric, ginger, garlic biryani, and not the warmer spices biryani that is perhaps the Nepalese style. The raita helped tame some of the flavor so I could eat some of it. I'm sure it's delicious to those who are fans of this combination of spices, it just wasn't for me. My daughter ordered the alook palak and said it was ok. In comparison to the amount of biryani I received, her portion size was quite small. Overall, I'm glad we tried some place new, and I had a new food experience. However, it's safe to say that I won't likely be returning, but again, perhaps Nepalese food isn't my jam.
