Curry Journey hit the spot overall. The butter chicken was creamy and comforting, and the duck ended up being the star -- super flavorful and cooked just right. Everything came together nicely with the rice. Only thing we noticed: for the price, the chicken portion felt a bit limited. Otherwise, solid flavors and an easy, satisfying meal.

$25 Khao Soi: curry broth, noodles with steak option. Absolutely fantastic. Rich and creamy. I want to come back immediately and explore the menu further.

There could never be too many Thai restaurants in the area so I am super excited to welcome this new place to the neighborhood. Curry Journey seems like an authentic Thai establishment - not Americanized and diluted to fit the milder palette - but instead focused on doing things the right way, to achieve the amazing depths of flavor that Thai food is known for. The ambience of this restaurant is relaxed and casual and the service is friendly and authentic. The food comes out, looking almost identical to what you see on the online menu, which is really saying something because the online menu looks extremely appetizing and picture perfect. And they can customize food options to fit any diet from vegan to the carnivore. Bravo to the chef's here. I hope they achieve great success, and persevere in the neighborhood.

I've been waiting to checking out Curry Journey! Was well worth the wait as all the food ordered was delicious! My main thing with Asian food in touristy Monterey Bay Area, is whether or not it is watered down for tourists, but luckily (!) everything tasted authentic with all the spices, herbs and flavors that you would find in the bigger cities. The new Asian restaurant cuisines are finally stepping up their game and staying true to the flavors! -Ordered quite a bit of dishes: -tom Kha soup, very flavorful! -Loved the Thai iced tea, bold and creamy flavor -chicken satay was yummy with the creamy peanut sauce and cucumber relish to balance the nutty flavors with the fresh veggies -Panang curry with side of steak bold, sweet flavor - sooo good, steak was perfectly grilled -Curry Journey curry: was my favorite. A mix of a Thai curry, with a sweet Japanese curry along with savory Chinese spices. The service was excellent! The owner and servers were attentive and friendly. The server, Angie, was really sweet, she gave my girls some cute stickers before we left. Also loved the Thai decor and ambience too. Looking forward to going back again this week to introduce my friend to the restaurant!

My husband and I are celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary with a weekend getaway in Carmel and Monterey. Upon our arrival in Monterey, after a two-hour drive, we searched Yelp for Thai food and discovered Curry Journey, which had glowing 5-star reviews. Thus, we decided to give it a try! We were immediately seated by Enon and Jose (who was training on his first day shadowing Enon). Both were incredibly hospitable and friendly. Enon took the time to walk us through the menu and offered excellent recommendations on both food and drinks. I especially loved their "Curry Journey" concept and the variety of meats available with the different curry sauces. Our drinks and appetizer arrived promptly. The shrimp spring rolls were beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The peanut sauce was outstanding -- warm, perfectly spiced, and packed with flavor. It truly made the dish! Our main courses also came out in a timely manner, with lovely presentation that made them even more appealing and appetizing! The flavors were superb and absolutely exceeded our expectations. Also, the prices on the menu were very reasonable. Furthermore, the ambiance was relaxed and down-to-earth, with a calming, peaceful vibe that made the evening even more enjoyable. Moreover, as we were leaving, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Nui. He was warm, humble, and genuinely welcoming. A huge heartfelt thank you to Nui, Enon, Jose, and the talented cooks behind the scenes for a definitely true 5-star experience. You all helped to make the first night of our anniversary weekend getaway memorable with exceptional quality Thai food and wonderful service. We'll definitely be back when we are in the area!

My family came down from San Jose for weekend relaxation and found this really relaxing stop. Top-notch warm professional service. Amazing authentic curry variety with delicious toppings ranging from steak to tofu. Warm, cozy setting with Thai cultural decor. We definitely will come back. We now have a spot to recommend to all Bay Arean friends.

My two friends and I went today for dinner after visiting the aquarium. The food was delicious and the service was great, the two people who served us were so nice and friendly! The restaurant itself is clean and the decorations are fun to look at. We got the Green and yellow curry, the butter chicken and the mango sticky rice. We will definitely come again the next time we visit!

Been wanting to check this place out since I heard about their opening. Very unique ambiance, with custom made dining room chairs and tables. The staff were great and even the owner came by and checked on us. We ordered the Thai lemon red tea it was a little on the sweet side but I enjoyed it. The Tom Kha soup was amazing! We shared it and it felt like the portion was good enough for two. Next was the butter chicken. This one was my least favorite as it's not similar to Indian style. The meat was not chicken breast instead it was thighs or something similar, just didn't work well in my opinion. The yellow curry was really good, but spicy if you like spice. We also ordered the sticky mango rice. It came with steaming hot sticky rice and mango on top. It looked better on th menu then in real life'. Also wasn't a fan of this one. Still overall the food was really good, we will be returning to try other items on the menu.

The food was amazing. I had the Steak Khao Soi. I also had some of both of their soup appetizers which were great as well.

This is a relatively new place in Monterey, and we are glad that we checked it out. Spotlessly clean, fresh food, great service. Every dish we ordered was tasty. Highly recommend to those who love Thai food. We will be coming back for sure.

The Pad Thai was definitely the highlight, perfectly cooked noodles coated in a rich, balanced sauce, and the beef was tender and flavorful. You really can't go wrong with it. The Panang Curry was also very enjoyable. The curry itself was creamy and full-bodied, and pairing it with rice really brought out the depth of flavor. I ordered it with chicken, which was good, but I do wish there had been a bit more of it. The Tom Kah Kai was incredibly rich and aromatic. The broth had a deep, comforting flavor, and the mushrooms were surprisingly the star, soaking up the soup and adding an extra layer of umami that made each bite better than the last. Service was fast and attentive, with the staff consistently checking in and keeping water filled, which I appreciated. The ambiance had a nice, authentic feel that really complemented the meal and made the whole experience more immersive.

We started with the Caprese salad, which was the perfect size for sharing between two people. To drink, I ordered a glass of Merlot while my partner enjoyed a sangria. The pours were generous and definitely appreciated! For our entrées, we ordered the shrimp Thai curry and the Gyro platter, both of which were flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. I debated a few dishes until the server let me know that the owner is from Thailand and this was her own recipe. It was amazing! The service was also exceptional throughout the entire course of the meal. We had several different team members checking on us, and each one was attentive, friendly, and made us feel well taken care of. Going back to the wine pours...we closed our tab but because of the holiday pour we stayed for another round of drinks for dessert! Unfortunately, we didn't have room or time for dessert ( because we had wine for dessert ;) , but after hearing great things about it, the key lime pie is already at the top of our list for next time. The first thing they brought out was bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and, no joke, that ended up being my favorite bite of the meal. I was still thinking about the bread while eating everything else, which probably says more than I intended. The clam chowder was good and comforting, but if you've had chowder in Monterey, you know the bar is pretty high. The calamari was the bigger disappointment. It was chewy instead of tender and didn't have that light, crispy crunch that makes calamari worth ordering in the first place. By the time we finished the chowder and calamari we were full, but we still looked through the menu to see if anything tempted us. Honestly, nothing really stood out. The pasta prices felt steep, and there wasn't a dish that made us say, "Okay, we have to come back and try that." The only thing that really took away from the experience was how close the tables were. I could hear the people next to us whispering and accidentally became invested in a conversation I was never invited to. Overall, it's a cute place with great service and a nice ambiance that's worth checking out if you're visiting Carmel. I don't regret going, but I also don't see myself going back. On the bright side, at least the bread gave me something to remember. Someone in that kitchen deserves a raise for that basket alone.

A waitress noticed me quickly and came to ask if had placed an order or needed to. They have a big menu! The lunch specials are amazing deals - a main course, with chow mein, fried rice, and soup! All for less than $15?! In this economy?? So I ordered the cashew chicken and a starter of cheese puffs (wanton). The food was all flavorful, the chow mein had a deliciously satisfying chew, the cheese puffs had a tangy cream cheese filling. I would say there wasn't an abundance of chicken - but there was a lot of other food to make up for it. Oh and complimentary hot green tea! I will definitely come back again!

Unfortunately, the chow mein was one of the worst I've had. It was mostly noodles with very little meat, and the meat that was included tasted old. I ended up throwing away at least half of it. Normally, I would have sent it back, but since it was a delivery order that wasn't practical. I had hoped to save some for leftovers, but the quality wasn't good enough to justify reheating. I also ordered two char siu baos, but after my experience with the rest of the meal, my expectations are pretty low. My biggest concern was the packaging. None of the food was sealed in any way. The chow mein container had popped open during transit and was handed to me already open. The other takeout container wasn't taped or sticker-sealed either, and the soup came in a plastic container with no seal at all. In my opinion, restaurants using delivery services should place tamper-evident stickers or tape on all containers. Food should not be arriving open or capable of popping open during delivery. The lack of sealing was concerning and did not inspire confidence. The soup was also only about half full, which made me wonder whether some had spilled during transit or if that was the intended portion size. Overall, the beef with broccoli was merely okay, the chow mein was very disappointing, and the packaging raised concerns. Based on this experience, I do not plan to order from or visit this restaurant again.
