We were able to make a reservation ahead of time online- the system only does indoor reservations, so make sure you email them to let them know if you are bringing a pup and need a patio seat! The restaurant is located on the lowest level of the Carmel Plaza, I really loved the location because there are plenty of places to park right around there. Between the two of us, we shared: - Miso cacio e pepe: we came specifically for this! It's one of their most well known dishes, and I highly highly recommend! So creamy and savory, and the mafaldine pasta has such a nice texture, the ruffled edges hold on to sauce perfectly. We also added a bit of gochujang that came with the bibimbap and it was so good with some spice. - Dolsot bibimbap: my husband's favorite Korean dish so of course we had to get it! An excellent variety of veggies, which was nice since we barely got any veg on vacation. The kalbi beef was so juicy and delicious, and not overcooked. - Matcha Tiramisu: absolute must get, so unique. The cake layers were soaked in matcha, and topped off with some fresh fruit. - Grapefruit sake spritz: I was on the fence between this cocktail and the yuzu champagne spritz. Our waitress said that the grapefruit spritz was much less sweet, and I am so glad I decided to go with that option! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, not overwhelming. En route to a 5k run in san Ramon, we stopped by their kitchen to carb up! This is a quick review: The meat on the smashburgers were tender! We could have used more dressing on salad that came with the jalapeño smshburger. The mushroom tempura was bland, so serving it with the roasted sesame dip was a a good pairing! We decided to get the gangnam tots, which was the best part of the whole meal. For entrees, the Creamy Miso Cacio e Pepe (added pork belly) needed some salt all around and we also got the Dumpling Egg Soup since it was cold out. The dumplings tasted like the frozen ones you can find in-stores but the soup had really good flavor, just not sure if it's worth the price. If I could go back in time, I would just get a second order of tots instead of any entrees (it was that good). We came on a Sunday late lunch/early dinner and there was no wait for indoor seating. This place has been all over my Tik Tok as one of the must try restaurants in the area. The presentation here is beautiful, everything looks amazing on the menu. We weren't that hungry, so we shared a pasta and calamari. Both were really good and the pork belly was very tender and not too fatty. The pasta was creamy and the consistency coated the pasta super well, nice pepper flavor too. I understand that the town is small so resources are limited and a tourist area is going to be expensive, but the food was priced super high. So glad we stumbled upon this place. Happened to be in the area and we were enticed by diners on the patio who were all having piping hot foods on cast iron plates and bowls. We lucked out on a Saturday evening and scored a nice space on the patio for four plus our doggie. Our favorite dish was the Creamy Miso Cacio E Pepe (add Pork Belly). However, one thing I wish I had known beforehand was that the bottled mineral/sparkling water placed on the table comes with an extra charge. I didn't realize this and opened it. Flavors were soooo good! I would HIGHLY recommend people to try the Korean pancake. Fried Calamari were delicious too; however, I wish it was a bit more crispier. For main dishes, we ordered the Beef Stone Pot Bibimbap, Korean Short ribs, and the Kimchi Pork Belly Soup. The Bibimbap was very good! The beef was whole pieces of steak, rather than what you would usually see people use for a typical bibimbap. Korean Short ribs were AMAZING! Flavors were delicious and it was cooked very well. I went with their Jalapeño Smashburger instead which was one of the juiciest burgers I've ever had, although on the greasier side. Loved the crunch and kick of the Jalapeños. Even with a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes to be seated, and the service stayed slow throughout the meal -- long gaps between ordering, drinks, and dishes. It's a shame, because the kitchen is doing great work. The steamed dumplings were great and highly recommend the half-and-half combo, so some are like soup dumplings and some are regular. The creamy miso cacio e pepe was the standout (and a dish they're known for) -- rich, savory, and exactly the kind of creative comfort dish you hope to find in Asian fusion. The beef stone pot was large with tons of ingredients and great for sharing. Everything we tried was flavorful and well executed, which made the pacing even more frustrating. I had a very disappointing experience here today. The food quality was noticeably worse than what I've had at other Korean restaurants in LA. But what really made this experience unacceptable was the way our party was treated by the staff and management. Right after we were seated, my toddler-aged daughter needed a nap. There was another table nearby with couches that would have made it much easier for us to comfort her. We politely asked whether we could move to that table. One of the servers told us that it was ok and they would help us move right away, so we naturally understood that we could change seats. However, shortly afterward, all food were delivered to our current table. I asked again and someone who identified herself as the manager, (according to herself) Grey, came over and told us that we could not move. We were disappointed, especially because we had already been told by the server that it was okay. What was most frustrating was not simply the decision itself, but how the situation was handled. Neither the manager nor the servers made any meaningful effort to apologize, explain the miscommunication, or help us find an alternative that would work for our toddler. Instead, they largely avoided eye contact and seemed to avoid engaging with us. When we asked about the situation toward the end of our meal, we were essentially told that it was the owner's policy and decision, and system limitations. I can understand that a restaurant may have seating policies, and I can respect a decision not to move tables. What I found very disappointing was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic customer care. If a customer is given permission by one employee and then told something completely different by a manager, I would expect at least a sincere apology and an effort to make the situation right. Unfortunately, we left feeling that neither the servers nor management really cared about our experience. For a restaurant charging these prices, I expected much better food and, more importantly, much better hospitality and professionalism. read more

I've been to Jeju Kitchen a number of times. So far, I like it, but I don't love it. The food--I've always ordered various Korean options, rather than from the old Burgerbar side of the menu--is consistently good, but always a notch less than what I'm hoping for, especially at the prices (and I'm sympathetic that the proprietors have to make rent at a location that's presumably pricey). Most recently I had the japchae, which looked gorgeous and for which I had high hopes. Although it was decent, the flavor was more bland than I anticipated, it lacked both the sweetness that should always be present and the subtle toasted/smoky notes that, for me, differentiate the very best iterations of the dish (and which can be achieved in various ways). Otherwise, service is solid, ambiance is solid, and on many days, being able to sit outside in the courtyard is a lovely option. Thank goodness for Jeju! Carmel is such a fun place to visit but before Jeju, I always felt the food scene was lacking. Came for lunch on a Sunday. They don't take lunch reservations but we were seated very quickly outside. They kindly turned on the heat lamps for us. Everything we ordered was really delicious. The coconut prawns . . . Didn't last long enough on the table for a photo! They were massive and coconut forward. We didn't realize we order kalbi twice, once in the stone bowl and another as an entree. It was delicious but we didn't need that much meat. Haha. The burger in the worlds of my MIL "best burger in years." Very excited to go back again! read more

So good!! We got the miso cacio e pepe, galbi, and white peach sangria. The cacio e pepe was so unique- it's creamy & so flavorful. The Galbi was so tender. We overheard the kimchi Mac n cheese is bomb so we're excited to go back & try that too! The service was great. They're super dog friendly and have a dog menu too! read more

Had a phenomenal lunch at Jeju! Came in at 1pm on a Saturday, no reservation and was seated within 10 minutes. Staff offered great recommendations and we specifically ordered the Short Rib plate and Miso Cacio e pepe. Food came out 5 minutes after ordering, and was ready to eat. I really enjoyed the creamy sauce of the noodles. I've never tried Italian Korean fusion, but this mix was phenomenal! The miso taste was not overpowering and the sauce was just cheesy enough. The short rib plate blew me away. I am not a fan of short ribs but Jeju made me a fan! My one wish is that the kimchi portions be larger. We loved sitting outside on the patio with our puppy and loved seeing all the birds fly by. This is a truly beautiful location. Although the price point is higher than expected, Jeju fills your expectations and will blow you away. read more

Nice spot to grab lunch with a focus on Korean-Italian fusion. They have indoor seating with tvs and outdoor seating with heat lamps. We opted for outdoors since it was a nice day out. For a party of three that wasn't too hungry, we all shared the chili oil wontons, creamy miso cacio e pepe with added pork belly, and the dumpling egg soup. The chili oil wontons are so cute, came out with like 12 tiny wontons in the chili oil sauce. The dumping soup was nice on a cold winter day. It came with some kimchi and radishes on the side. The star of the show though was the creamy miso cacio e pepe. We order the pork belly as an add on. They forgot it when the pasta came out though, and we had to wave a server down to get it. The pasta texture was perfect. I'd come back for the pasta. The pork belly on the other hand, I don't know if they rushed it, but it was not great. It had a weird texture and smelled like old oil was used. It only came with 6 pieces too. We could have said something but none of us felt like eating it afterwards, and the pieces were pretty fatty. I'd either skip the protein since the pasta great on it's own, or get a different protein. We came right at lunch so the wait wasn't too crazy surprisingly, but shortly after we got seated, we noticed a line and a lot of people waiting.
