I've been here once before and had a good experience, so I decided to return to celebrate an anniversary with my partner. The atmosphere and decor are stunning, and the timing of our 6pm reservation worked out well since the restaurant wasn't too busy. However, parking remains a challenge, which is worth mentioning upfront. We were seated next to the bar, which, while nice, came with an unexpected downside--the constant door openings made it pretty cold, to the point where some of the servers were wearing beanies. It wasn't ideal, but we made do. The food, though, was fantastic. The spicy edamame was tasty, though it could have been spicier. The Age-Dashi tofu was a real standout--delicious and perfectly portioned. For my main, I ordered the veggie deluxe combo, which included tofu skin inari, a tempura sweet potato roll, and a cucumber avocado roll. The meal was filling and really satisfying. If anything, I wished I could've taken some of the sweet potato rolls home, but by the time we decided to ask for them to-go, 45 minutes had passed without anyone checking in on us. We also tried to order a side of fried rice and lemonade, but it took so long to get someone's attention that we just ended up getting the fried rice to avoid further delays. On the positive side, the Old Fashioned I ordered was very well-made and kept me warm while enduring the chilly draft. As for service, it was a bit rough. Our server appeared new and was clearly overwhelmed as the restaurant got busier. We were patient with him, but the wait times were frustrating, especially when we tried to order more food. At one point, after waiting 20 minutes to get his attention, we just decided to settle for the fried rice. One odd moment was when he asked, "When do you want your check?"--it threw me off a bit. I wasn't sure if it was a language barrier or a lack of experience, but I was left a little confused by the interaction. Overall, the food earned five stars without question, but the service experience was lacking and pulled the overall rating down to about three stars. With a little more attention to service and maybe some heat by the door, this place could easily be a solid 5-star spot for both food and experience.

Celebrated mom's birthday here. Our party had 6 people and 2 were strict gluten free. They sat us at our own hibachi table and the chef cooked everyone's meals gluten free in front of us. So happy they have GF soy sauce. They advised us the yum yum sauce was GF but not the soup or salad that came with the hibachi meal. They really took great care to not cross contaminate. There was so much food, portions are large which made for lots of leftovers. Can't wait to go back. Love finding restaurants that accommodate gluten free.

    Gyoza, kind of anyway.

I realize I'm in the middle of Texas, but honestly, the food here is just meh. I think quality control and preparation may be issues. I do not think I would eat here again. Examples, the vegetable tempura contained shrimp tails and once thick slices of zucchini and sweet potato. The batter was more akin to a chicken fried steak. My udon was a sloppy mess of flavors and the chicken wings had an odd look and salty flavor. Not the best experience.

weird sticker in my Clear Soup

good good soupweird sticker in my salad it's making me type some more so i guess i will say the chef lit his head on fire

This place was great! We were going to go to a ramen and sushi joint, but they were out of sushi. Talk about Devine intervention. This place was epic. You have to try the edemame! They have different flavors and the garlic one was more amazing than I can describe. The fried rice was delicious too. Our server was professional, attentive and super helpful. As for the cheesecakes. All the options are the same with different toppings. My son and I contemplated for at least 10 minutes where the marshmallow was in the cheesecake, and it wasn't even there. Lol. Still good, but if you're having dessert, it's frozen cheesecake and chose based on the toppings you want. That's the only difference.

Very very very salty chicken fried rice!

The food here is absolutely amazing, and the cook deserves five stars for doing an EXCELLENT job!…read moreMy mother and I visited today, and everything we ate tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, the two women working the front register completely ruined the experience and made us never want to go back. When we first arrived, both employees were glued to their phones. We had to struggle just to get their attention to ask a basic question about the ordering kiosk. Because we were paying with cash, we had to order directly at the register, but the cashier acted like she wasn't even listening to us. Later, I needed to go back up to the counter to ask for a second plate. My mom and I were splitting our lunch--we intentionally ordered a large portion and an extra side of rice to do this--but the cashier rudely snapped at me, saying she had "already given me a plate." (She only gave us one.) To make matters worse, the front-of-house environment felt incredibly unprofessional. At one point, the cashier had her top pulled up and her pants pulled down around her hips to show off a stomach tattoo to her coworker right at the counter. After the interaction, she was so incredibly rude that we could actually hear her talking about us all the way from our table. It is incredibly sad that such talented kitchen staff and great food are being dragged down by such terrible, unprofessional customer service at the front. Management really needs to address this

Wako Roll was a real treat. After a long drive, I was tired and wanted something simple and fast…read moreso I could get to my hotel and recover. What I found was a great little sushi joint that had some interesting Asian twists to follow along. When I arrived, the dining area was fairly busy, yet felt comfortable in the modern Asian restaurant style, slightly reminiscent of a Pei-Wei. I admit, I can't do this place justice because I was tired and did not get enough photos of the place. Even though I hate using order yourself kiosk, I can't complain much about the ones at Wako Roll. The system provides you good images of the items you are selecting and easy ways to substitute or add ingredients or modify your order. The menu offers a wide variety of Korean dishes including bibimbap and various varieties of bulgogi, but what caught my eyes were the Wako Roll Tacos. I ordered a Bulgogi Taco and a Spicy Pork Taco, plus a California Roll for good measure. The tacos were larger than I expected and served in a common street taco style, but LOADED with ingredients. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the fresh vegetables added the perfect crunch. What really surprised me was the California Roll, a basic sushi staple at every sushi bar worth its name. The roll was larger than expected, tasted wonderful, was clearly freshly made, and STUFFED with a marinated, shredded crab that was an unexpected treat. For the price, of $7 it was far better than I expected it to be. Traveling through Waco anytime soon? Stop at Wako Roll and try something out. Chances are, you will not be disappointed.

We started with appetizers (house salad, pan seared gyoza, and a Umami Roll). The umami roll was topped with crispy garlic flakes and added the most unique flare to the roll. My fiancé and I both talked about how good the flavor was. As for the ramen, we both got spicy level 2 which would be equivalent to a mild Jalapeño so it complimented the dish perfectly. The service was absolutely wonderful and our waiter was super attentive! Can't wait to come back here

Instead, one came sickeningly sweet with an unlisted cinnamon syrup, and the other still had a strong cinnamon taste. When we questioned this, the server casually mentioned the cinnamon syrup--something not disclosed on the menu. I had to specifically ask her to take one back rather than her responding promptly. Next, they brought our sushi rolls, but no plates, no soy sauce, and not even dishes for dipping. We had to ask for all those basics. I specifically chose two rolls without cream cheese--because I don't want cream cheese in my sushi--and yet one still had it. The server's response was to chat with a manager but not to offer any solution, compensation, or correction. Overall, if a menu lists certain ingredients, that's what should arrive. Adding things like cinnamon in a drink or cream cheese in a roll--especially when people might have dietary needs--is careless. They need to be more attentive to both the menu and the customer's feedback.

The back room inside of another back room was where they sat us for hibachi. There are two tables in that small room and the thermostat on a small corner AC unit read 99 degrees when we finally asked to be moved and asked about the AC. They said it was broken. With two small kids and an elderly mother, with breathing issues, we absolutely couldn't handle the heat. And they hadn't even started cooking yet. They moved us into the other room without hibachi tables and it was much better but then we realized the air stopped blowing. The thermostat in this room was 85 degrees. The waitress acknowledged they keep it hot. The manager told us later it was broken and a repair guy was called. But going back to the meal... The kids' steak hibachi came out a grizzly, unflavored lump of meat, that they didn't even cut up for the kids like they do when you sit at the hibachi table. My mom's and my filet hibachi were not filet cuts of meat at all. They were not good, and tasted old. The tuna roll we tried was not very cold either and it made me realize it's probably not kept to temperature in the back since the AC is out and it's 85 degrees out here... by the sushi bar. I am not one to complain to a manager, but I had to when the food was so bad and then my son started crying because had a headache and was so hot his checks were flushed. The manager was actually kind, apologetic, and listened. Which we appreciated, but wanted them to tell people the AC is out before they get seated, to avoid this craziness. Almost 100 degrees in the back corner room and they think it's ok to keep seating people back there?? Ok, I'm not trying to lecture, but it was really bad. The weirdest part is that BOTH Nami restaurants- one in Belton and one in Temple had "broken" A/Cs that night. Seems like a crazy coincidence. We left the Belton location before the waiter made it over because it was so hot. We went to the Temple location knowing it wouldn't have the same fate. But, huh, they didn't have AC either. Head-scratcher.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. We will for sure be back and bring others!
