And the hostess sat two tables before us, one had a reservation after us, and the other walked in about 40 minutes into our wait. Came here for a fish fry and no regrets! Fish fry was huge! With a large portion of tuna macaroni salad which was excellent and fries (or you can get rice, baked potato, or German potato salad). It also comes with coleslaw and a slice of rye bread with butter. My friend got the fish sandwich which was the friend ah fry cut in half so it was huge for a sandwich. We both loved our beer battered fish. Nice and crispy! Service was swift. Two things could have made it better; one, there's not much of an option but it was loud. The phone rings nonstop and there's just a lot of noise period and for me, I find a lot of noise draining. The other thing is that I froze! Lunch is usually empty so you can sit for a couple hours and visit. We went to Curry's on Kenmore Ave. last night (Friday) to try their fish fry. We had heard many good things about them, and they did not disappoint. The plates of food coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. It is a nice, varied menu. The fish fry was the best I'd had in a long time! We are new to the area and have been looking for a place to get a reliable fish. Lot of disappointment out there regarding this Friday night tradition. The fish needs to be absolutely fresh and the sides homemade. Curry's was A+ on all counts. The German potato salad was just like my family's, a true salad, not some hot soupy mess made with the wrong potatoes! It was delicious and handled properly. Many places think it needs to be served hot, and that is just wrong. The coleslaw had excellent flavor, but a little soupy. The macaroni salad was tasty, even though it was buried under the hot fish which is not a good idea. Maybe separate the sides a little better by putting the slaw and macaroni salad in separate little serving bowls. The complaints are minor ones. We will definitely be back to Curry's! read more

Where do I begin? Went for lunch a few months ago. Had a wrap sandwich and fries. Good, not great. Ate half of each and the waitress came and took my plate. The roast beef had no au jus, so had to ask for some. Had to ask for ketchup too. My friend asked for a water. Waiter never asked if I would like one too. My cashew chicken salad came without cashews! Seriously. Had to ask for them too. Salad had greens, red cabbage and carrots and nothing else. It wasn't until I got home and looked and it was also supposed to have bacon too. Took half of it home, ate the cashews and threw the rest away. Curry's has a casual, informal atmosphere, which adds to its charm. The service is also excellent. Our servers are attentive and friendly every time. Curry's serves my favorite fish fry in Buffalo. They offer breaded or beer battered haddock. I always go with the beer battered. The fish fries are served hot. The batter is light and perfectly crispy. It comes with a side of macaroni salad and coleslaw, with your choice of potato. I order the french fries because they are amazing. The fish fry is honestly big enough to split between two people. I couldn't even finish my half the last time I went there for dinner. In addition to the fish fry, I recommend the stuffed banana peppers and the sauteed artichoke hearts. Both appetizers are phenomenal and flavorful! Last but not least, the Dibble Sandwich is one of the best sandwiches you will ever have! As the first Friday of lent arrived, the restaurant no longer accepted dinner reservations. It was utter chaos inside between customers waiting for a table and those trying to pickup their take-out orders. It seemed like people who were seated were being ignored by the wait staff so the kitchen could keep up with the phone orders. They were told 45 minutes to an hour and were still waiting 90 minutes later. I don't blame the people who were waiting for a table to walk out in disgust because of this lousy service. Hopefully the owner realizes it's the loyal steady customers who made this restaurant a success, not the lenten fish fry "to go" people. I suggest eating your fish fry at a local church or fire hall for the next 40 days. read more

Curry's is my old faithful. I've been coming here on Friday nights with my family since you've been able to smoke in bars. Now its not only Fridays, but also Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays too.. ok you get it. Its a great neighborhood bar that is always filled with locals everyday of the week because there food is so amazing and each night has a different special. If you haven't tried a Dibble sandwich then you actually haven't lived, but warning you WILL become addicted and it will probably increase your odds of having a heart attack. Dibbles are sandwiches with whichever meat you choose (I recommend the fried bologna), topped with stuffed banana peppers, in between 2 garlic rolls. Your heart will never be happier. So this is another addition to my quest to find a fish fry that can come close to comparing to the one found at wiechec's (the wait times are insane at times and I have a toddler now... waiting an hour is no fun anymore) We have been told Curry's was a good comparison, though I should note that it does not come with potato salad like wiechec's does. Curry's macaroni salad was actually a tuna salad, which was very tasty. My plate came out with coleslaw, which was actually just a pile of shredded cabbage and zero dressing on it. Somehow they forgot to add dressing. The waitress was very apologetic and brought a replacement coleslaw for me. The fries were tasty and crispy. The fish fries were humongous, however, mine was definitely not cooked at the right temperature and was incredibly greasy. The grease soaked out of the batter as I went to cut it (see pic) and it was saturated throughout the fish inside. What a disappointment. My husband's, however, was not very greasy. So, he really liked his, but negative points for lack of consistency. We came around 5 o'clock on a Friday during Lent and ended up having to wait about a half hour for a table. Service was decent.
