So this is another addition to my quest to find a fish fry that can come close to comparing to the one found at wiechec's (the wait times are insane at times and I have a toddler now... waiting an hour is no fun anymore) We have been told Curry's was a good comparison, though I should note that it does not come with potato salad like wiechec's does. Curry's macaroni salad was actually a tuna salad, which was very tasty. My plate came out with coleslaw, which was actually just a pile of shredded cabbage and zero dressing on it. Somehow they forgot to add dressing. The waitress was very apologetic and brought a replacement coleslaw for me. The fries were tasty and crispy. The fish fries were humongous, however, mine was definitely not cooked at the right temperature and was incredibly greasy. The grease soaked out of the batter as I went to cut it (see pic) and it was saturated throughout the fish inside. What a disappointment. My husband's, however, was not very greasy. So, he really liked his, but negative points for lack of consistency. We came around 5 o'clock on a Friday during Lent and ended up having to wait about a half hour for a table. Service was decent. Parking was horrendous, there were no parking spots left and I had to park quite a good distance down a side street The quest for an equally perfect fish fry continuous. Went on a Friday for the Fish fry, I ordered take out. The wait was long but that was to be expected considering it was dinner time on a Friday for Lent. I got the breaded fish with German potato salad. Everything was so good! It was my first time ever going here and I wasn't disappointed. The people in line that were waiting for their food were regulars and very friendly. They told me all the food is good. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the middle of the week than by eating a huge Thanksgiving Feast! Their turkey dinner has white and dark meat, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn and is accompanied by a delicious (warm) Costanzo's roll and butter. The mashed potatoes are not the fancy whipped potatoes or the liquid starch you get from a box. No. They're the potatoes that have been hand mashed with butter and milk. They still have chunks of potato in it to prove to you they're real! Mashed potatoes aren't mashed potatoes if they haven't been mashed with milk, muscle and a ton of butter. Their Fish Fry barely fits on the plate! The fish comes out hot and with a solid crunch to it. No sog to be found. Which is fantastic because I hate a soggy oily fish fry. It comes with fries, coleslaw, mac salad and a slice of rye with butter. When you come to Curry's, bring an appetite and your eatin' pants! They're food is delish, their portions are huge and the staff are fantastic. When you're a regular, it's nice that the staff recognize you and remember your orders. Always greeted with a smile and attentive service. The best part of Curry's being in "the Neighborhood"? You can't walk in to the place without knowing at least 2 people! I haven't been to Curry's in years but we recently moved to Tonawanda and since we wanted a fish fry we gave it a try. We were so pleased. Fish was fresh and a generous portion, the cole slaw and macaroni salad were in their own containers which kept everything from being mushy. Fries - delicious! This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, which I did after reading good reviews here. I was not disappointed. The small parking lot was packed, as was the restaurant/bar itself, which only made me realize how good everything must be. I got two fish fries, both of which had "ginormous" pieces of fish. And the beer batter was to die for! Buttery and crisp, I could have eaten a plate of that alone! The mountain of fries were cooked to perfection, the macaroni and coleslaw were delish, and the rye bread was soft and yummy. Curry's is a nice comfortable place that has managed to stay consistent and good for years. I used to use the laundromat next door just to hang out at the bar and have lunch and Bloody Marys. However I found a better laundromat..but no lunch spot attached! So I met friends the day before Thanksgiving here. The place was packed at 6. Our waitress was cool, calm and collected. She ran through the beer on tap and offered to bring a sample. Pretty nice considering how busy it was. We had drinks and I had the beer she recommended. Everyone was having turkey, which I found odd considering the date. It did look good, fresh with both white and dark meat. I had the Dibble du jour which was essentially a nicely fried pork cutlet on a sub roll topped with 2 stuffed banana peppers. The peppers were not too hot and still had a bit of a crunch which was nice. The cutlets were the perfect sandwich thickness and it came with some fries. I am a decent and reasonable man, and as long as a restaurant prepares my food in a (relatively) reasonable timeframe and are friendly (or at least not rude) I will be a happy camper. CURRY'S COULDN'T EVEN MEET ME THERE. This is the type of experience that when you leave, not only do you never want to come back, it you feel that they should never be allowed to be in business in the first place because of the way they treat their customers. We were told our food would be ready for pick up in two hours which sure is a long time, but hey I appreciate them being up front about it and I understand it's busy. So it's all good right? WRONG. We show up after 2 hours and they said it will be another 30 minutes. I mean wow just wow. So we leave, come back 30 minutes later..... and guess what we did? WAITED ANOTHER 30 MINUTES!!!!!! So this is 3 hours in total. And honestly, I would overlook it if they had offered even a quick apology or shown some understanding for how long we waited. NOPE. NOTHING. Not only did we not get so much as a "sorry about that" or a small discount on our meal, we didn't even get an acknowledgment from ANY staff member about our ordeal. It would have taken so little to salvage this situation, but CURRY COULDN'T CARE ENOUGH TO DO THAT. Absolutely humiliating experience, completely ruined our lent. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! read more

We had visitors from out of state that were excited to try various 'Buffalo' foods and one night they chose beef on weck. Our 1st choice restaurant was not open and we've seen recommendations for Curry's and decided to give it a try. BAD decision. We ordered here for the first time tonight. We've been looking for an old fashioned haddock fish fry. FINALLY found it!! A wonderful meaty piece of fish well cooked with choice of potato. I had the German potato salad that could have been a bit saucier but were good and my husband had fries that were good. In addition there were separate containers of Mac salad with tuna (that never happens) and very good coleslaw. All complete with tip was under $40. We will be back. Great find!!! read more

I was definitely impressed by the food here. Any banana pepper dish is the way to go. I had the banana pepper soup which was so good. For dinner I had a grilled chicken dibble and my boyfriend had an Italian sausage dibble. Both were huge and so amazing. This is the best fish fry in Buffalo. Highly recommend the half fish fry with the German potato salad. It's delicious and vinegary just like my Grandma's. You also get macaroni salad (on the dry side, which I LOVE) AND coleslaw. All of this for 9.99. Yes, you read that right! Today being the first Friday during Lent we decided to get a fish fry from Curry's on Kenmore they were rated one of the 23 best fish fries in WNY, so extremely disappointed when we ordered at 5:45pm for take out, they advised it would be an hour and forty five minutes, we arrived at 7:30 and they advised it would be at least another hour!!!!!! Poor planning on Curry's part and it is now 7:30 in the evening and where do we get dinner? I love very little... but I love this place. It has that feeling that you used to get when you watched Cheers. Everyone knows everyone, the food is reasonably priced, and the service is amazing. Check my reviews, I am honest about what is both great and horrible. Fred, the bartender, is absolutely amazing. He is a seasoned Pro, and his memory for drinks is second to none. The baked fish is by far the highlight of the menu. Huge portions, great sides, and if you get take out, they don't screw up the order. You can really tell that this place appreciates every transaction that takes place and will do anything to have you come back again. This is the type of business philosophy that will keep them around for years. Parking is the only issue, but it's well worth a little walk if you have to park on a side street. In my past life I used to eat quite a few chicken wings, and I always said this place was maybe at the top of the list. Their wings size is huge! Plus, they smother their wings in their delicious sauce. If you paired their wings up with Duff's blue cheese and fries, you might have the meal I ask for if I ever find myself on death row! So friendly. I absolutely love coming here. Also, it's easy to take my 2 year old son to eat at Curry's because it is fast. If it's ever going to be a few minutes, one of the waitresses will bring my son a piece of bread or something else to kill time. Golf and baseball are almost always on... which pleases me to no end. My other sister and her husband were happy with their fish dinners, but the waitress boasted how great the banana pepper soup was, (a different soup than what came with the dinner, an extra 75 cents- $1.00, said the waitress.) Well, my sister ordered the premium soup, but wasn't impressed. The soup was just a plain cream soup. When the waitress asked how she liked it, my sister said she didn't, that it was nothing special. The waitress didn't seem to care. And when we got the bill, there was an extra charge of $1.50 for the soup. My first time here, which is funny as it's close by. I met family there at someone else's request, so I had my chance! As a vegetarian I only had a couple choices...so on that front I wouldn't go there to eat on any regular basis. However I do eat fish on occasion and was ready for a fish fry! Since everyone else ordered salads I didn't want to be a glutton (lol) I had the fish sandwich. Well! The piece fish was giant for the sandwich...(hurray for good rolls too, I'm thinking they were Costanza's rolls) and I had to eat half of the fish before I could eat the sandwich! It really hit the spot and I felt satisfied for not quite getting a typical 'fish fry'. The fries were not my fav so I kind of let them sit...but the fish itself was great and a decent side of tatar sauce as well! Oh and they serve the fish fry's every day of the week...another plus! The eating area is small (bar on other side) so would fill up quick...clean enough and service was good (a Monday evening and only one waitress but she did great) I would definitely go there again for the fish fry. read more
