Had lunch here with my husband, the food and service were okay! Presentation of the food is lovely. I would say price point wise I expected better quality food, although I am pretty picky about schnitzel, so I'd give their Jaeger schnitzel a 2/5, the meat was really tough and thick in mine, Kase spatzle was delicious, and mushroom gravy was good not great. My husband had a similar experience, he didn't like the schnitzel, (also very tough) but loved the fries! We have been spoiled on really good schnitzel though so probably are biased! Very niche food in Reno, love to experience flavor profiles from all over the world. Out of the two options of schnitzel we got I would say the best one in my opinion is the Jagerschnitzel. The mushroom gravy really adds flavor and ties in nicely with the pork. The potato salad was delicious. I'd say that plate was a great combination. For tonight's date night, my wife got to choose where to eat. Years ago, she would often choose the Bavarian house downtown Reno, but it has been closed for years. My wife's mother was raised in Bavaria. So my wife does get a hankering for German style food. We did not have reservations, we just showed up. It took quite a while for the girl to come back and get our drink order. Somewhere between 10 minutes and 15 minutes. We probably should've ordered our food when she took our drink order. Took another 10 minutes for the drinks to get to the table. I told the waitress sweetie we're ready to order right away. What we ordered: Snitch martini Whiskey, old fashion The schnitzel with Belgian fries Goulash with bread Apple strudel Apricot/chocolate cake The food arrived surprisingly fast. My wife liked the goulash but the small dish it was served in was half full. As for the veal schnitzel, it was good, however, small. It was pounded pretty thin, and the coating was pretty thick. So even though the flavor was good, it was hard to tell what kind of meat it was. The lingonberry jam and the brussels sprouts/pancetta topping was actually pretty good. Definitely liked the fries. The description of the bar was like a ski lodge, and this was definitely the vibe we got. It was cute and comfortable. Overall, a pretty enjoyable evening, though my wife and I both agreed that it was over-priced. A small bowl of stew, a small schnitzel with french fries, two cocktails and two desserts for about $106 before tip. But again, though the portions were small they were delicious. Came here for apps and drinks the other night and was not disappointed. We got fries, and pretzel, and spinach and artichoke dip and all of them were delicious. The pretzel comes with cheese, mustard, and honey (which is a shockingly good dip). The spinach and artichoke dip came with crostinis and once we ran out of those, I ate the rest with fries. We were sat outside by the fire which was delightful and served by a waitress that didn't check on us too much or too little which I always enjoy. Wife and I came in because we're big fans of German and Austrian food, and a couple of our local favorites recently closed down, so we decided to try something new. Kind of out of the way for us, but if it's good, it's more than worth it, we figured. The results were mixed. The atmosphere was amazing. Loved the decor and the comfortable feel of the place. Super cool. There was some intense aroma going around through which immediately put me off. Not sure what it was, but it was pretty strong. It wasn't a kitchen or bathroom smell, it was definitely some sort of intentional scent. It wasn't even bad, just a little stronger than it should be. Certainly not enough to take away from the feel of the place. The lady who's served us seemed quite nice. She never told us her name, but she checked in on us frequently, got our stuff out in a good time, and all in all I have no notes. The food is where the uncertainty really comes in. The classic German beer was good. For food we got a Jägershnitzel with Kasespaetzel as a side, and a Pretzel appetizer. The pretzel was fine. Maybe could have had a bit more salt, but that's always a difficult balance to hit. The beer cheese that it came with was weirdly spicy, like it was a nacho cheese instead of a beer cheese. I have had traditional German beer cheeses that were spicier, but in this case I feel like it didn't entirely work. It was fine, and I finished it, but it didn't scratch the itch I was looking for. The Kasespaetzel on the side was delicious. Properly cheesy and they added prosciutto to it which was delicious as well. There's a very nitpicky part of me that wishes it was something German instead of Italian, but that's definitely not a mark against it, it's just me being silly. The Schnitzel was dry and kind of tasteless. As a Jägershnitzel it came with a mushroom gravy, and I was kind of surprised at how little that actually added. Jägershnitzel is one of my favorite foods of all time, and this was probably one of the worst ones I've ever had. I still finished it, and I don't regret it, because the worst of a great dish is still going to be decent, but I was very disappointed. It also came with a side of Rotkohl, which was also surprisingly tasteless. I'm honestly kind of surprised at that. Rotkohl typically is quite a potent flavor profile. It needed a lot more flavor in it. Was kind of dry too. All in all, I might come back and try it again, but I'd at least order different things. I love the ski town vibe when you walk in. They always have fun things on the TV and at this time of the season, showcasing, beautiful winter sceneries with snow capped mountains. The beer menu has some excellent German beers. I enjoyed the half Hefeweizen. We also really wanted a dirty martini, the bartender was nice enough to make some fresh blue cheese olives, which really tied the drink together and showcased the outstanding service. Schnitzel sandwich is absolutely amazing. It's crunchy and with a delicious sauce and is perfectly paired with the fresh made fries and multiple dipping sauces. This is our first time having the clams and we absolutely loved it. They're steamed in beer and put together with tomatoes in the sauce, which sounds kind of strange, but it is absolutely delicious and it's a must try if you enjoy clams. My Brother and Sister-in-Law were visiting and brought them here for dinner. My Sister-in-Law is from Austria and wanted to get her take on some of the more traditional food served, so we ordered several dishes to share. For starters, we ordered a Pretzel with Beer Cheese Sauce, Honey and Seeded Mustard. The Beer Cheese Sauce was really good and the Pretzel was very fresh...SO GOOD! (I would stop by just for a Pretzel and a drink.) We followed-up with an order of the Käsespäetzle, Schnitzel, Tafelspitz and the Goulash & Späetzle. Everything was so tasty and my Sister-in-Law was really happy with all of the food. I enjoyed the variety of ingredients and flavors. The meat in the Tafelspitz was so tender...it was just cooked to perfection! So, the food was very good, but as far as drinks, we were a little disappointed. Which is why I gave a 4/5 stars. There were absolutely no Austrian Beers to try. Also, my Sister-in-Law recommended I try the Stiegl Grapefruit Radler and although it was on the menu, it wasn't available. The service was very good and our server was attentive and friendly. The restaurant also feels very warm and the decor relates to everything Austria. My Sister-in-Law was even able to identify a picture from the region where she grew-up. We stopped in for an impromptu lunch while in that area of town. We were greeted by a less than enthusiastic woman who eventually warmed up a little bit. But she definitely gave the place an authentic feel in terms of an 'angry German' (yes, I know it's an Austrian restaurant, but everybody knows at least one angry German, so the reference makes more sense considering they're both part of the DACH region). On the bright side, this space is so fun! The location, decor, & vibe overall - it is all very cool. We ordered the cucumber salad, goulash poutine, bratwurst with fries, veal schnitzel with kasespaetzle, and an affogato & apple strudel for dessert. Here's what I have to say about each and every item we ordered - DELICIOUS! I'm not native to Austria, so certainly cannot speak in terms of how true to their culture the food is. However, I know good food when I taste it, and this is it! The cucumber salad is nice thin slices of whole cucumber with what you would expect for marinade - rice vinegar, a little sugar, some dill and onions. It is delicious. The goulash poutine is decadent, flavorful, and filling. It is a healthy (totally NOT legit healthy, but BIG) sized bowl of their Belgian fries (steak fries that are spiral cut & seasoned) topped with beef goulash, cheddar cheese, beer cheese, and a large dollop of sour cream on top. This is on the 'small plates' menu. Don't be fooled. There's nothing small about it. Then we tried the beer braised bratwurst on a pretzel bun with Belgian fries. Fries came sans all of the additional toppings on this plate. ‍ The bratwurst was perfectly cooked, with a nice snap when you bit into it. The pretzel bun was soft and chewy and able to withstand all of the mustard, sauerkraut, caramelized onions & aioli that topped the brat. While much more complex than the brats we enjoyed while visiting Austria & Germany, it was a win on the flavor scale. They added all the things you love to taste with your brat. The veal schnitzel......YES! It helps that we went with the kasespaetzle for the side on this. You can actually order a cup of their kasespaetzle from the small plate menu, which you should do if you decide you would rather get the potato salad with your schnitzel (apparently a more traditional side for schnitzel). The veal schnitzel was perfection for me. Breading light and crispy (like panko breading) - perfectly fried to golden. It. Was. DELICIOUS. The kasespaetzle is stupid good. Egg noodles smothered in cheesy goodness with pieces of prosciutto scattered about and topped with crispy onions...seriously drool worthy. It's one of those cheese spinner dishes, when you pull your fork up from grabbing a bite and have to give the cheese a whirl to get all the stringy goodness wrapped up on your fork. Last, but not least, the apple strudel with a vanilla sauce. They added raisins, which is one of those foods that gives me trust issues (is it a chocolate chip or is it one of those nasty rotting grapes?!), but they were few & far between, which allowed me to avoid them entirely and let the apple steal the show. Bottom line? Make it a point to hit this place. It is SO GOOD. No doubt a dinner there would be a blast, with all the fun decor & lighting in the space. I'm VERY familiar with this location, having worked for the previous owners (who had a completely different concept/restaurant) for well over 2 years playing live music for them weekly. It's off my beaten path, since I live in Sparks, but I'm very pleased that I made the time to drop in because this place very quickly outgrew their beginnings and is now operating at a very high level. I always have to remind myself of one of my cardinal rules...if there's mixed reviews, go see for yourself! I'm SO glad that I did. I've been here multiple times...this establishment has solidified everything they do to present a high quality experience for their clientele across the board. The ownership, management and staff are all top notch...friendly, courteous, personable, welcoming and efficient in every phase of service. Joined a group of friends for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed Eidelweiss. To start off their decor and ambience inside is really cool. Friends were already there and server was quick to attend to people as they arrived. Since we were a group I got to try a couple different things. To start off there was pretzel and goulash going around the table and both were very tasty. Once we got there we ordered the fries, curry and ketchup wings, and honey bear pizza. The fries were probably one of my favorite things I had. The were cut in an interesting that made them neither to thin nor too thick and had a lot of surface area to have a great crunch outside and soft inside. I really enjoy the cozy ski chalet ambiance at Edelweiss, it's very well decorated and a cross between a Swiss mountain chalet and modern hipster bar. The food is on the pricier end we paid $80 for two entrees and a beer! The goulash and spaetzle was a hearty, filling dish. The beef was super tender and the sauce was finger licking good. The schnitzel was good as well very thin and nicely breaded, if not a little bit small portion wise. The dessert really let us down it tasted very much like a store bought chocolate cake your grandma would serve you, nothing like the sachertortes I had when visiting Austria none of the depth of flavor or richness. For dinner, I ordered the Jägerschnitzel with Belgian fries, and my husband went with the Schnitzel and fingerlings. From my perspective, the Jägerschnitzel felt more reimagined than traditional. It was good, just different from the Jägerschnitzel I've had while traveling in Munich. Not a negative--just a variation worth noting. The Belgian fries, however, were a standout and definitely a hit. The red cabbage, however, was surprisingly tasteless, which was a bit unexpected given how flavorful the rest of the meal was. My husband enjoyed his meal as well. Overall, we left happy with both the food and the service. It is a bit on the pricey side, but not enough to complain given the quality, atmosphere, and experience. This place was so good! My Husband and I stopped in on a Friday around 4 pm. We just wanted a pre dinner snack! We got the meat and cheese board that came with a giant pretzel. We also got 2 drink. I got a blackberry bourbon, which was definitely not light on the bourbon! And my husband got a beer recommend by our waitress. It was so good, I wish I remembered which beer it was! Now back to the food. AMAZING I love the variety of sausages and cheese, the arugula and cornichons were a great compliment to the board! The pretzel was the real star! Probably one of the best pretzels I have had. Warm and perfectly cooked and perfectly salty. It had a mustard and sweet dipping sauce on the side that nicely complimented the board. Came for birthday celebration with friends and wanted to finally visit. The decor is true to the name and a cozy Austrian ski chalet/pub. Staff were very friendly and we came for trivia night. We were quickly seated and this is the best pretzel I have ever had in Reno! Seriously, order one it's delightful. We also had the brussel sprouts au gratin, chicken wings, Reuben, and the fries were crispy wedges. They had German beer and some new non-alcoholic options my husband hadn't had yet. I went here for DJ Trivia- one of my favorite things to do in the area, but I was so caught off guard by how wonderful everything was at Edelweiss! Sadly, I was immersed with friends during our game of trivia so I forgot photos, but this restaurant is gorgeous. This location has been many things over the years, but this is certainly the nicest it's ever looked. The menu here is very classic Austrian/German with a few other items thrown in as well- such as pizza. We ordered a pizza and it was very tasty but the star of the evening was the apple strudel. So yummy! There were so many things that I would love to come back and try from this menu. I wasn't overly hungry this particular evening but I wish I could have tried more. The drink menu also excels here. Plenty of wine choices and a lovely cocktail menu. Our group indulged in both. Our server was very attentive with our drinks and kept us very happy! I certainly will need to make it back here for a date night with my wife. I think that's where this place will shine. It seemed like many couples were out at Edelweiss- even on a Wednesday night. Craving Goulash? Head on over to Edelweiss at the Summit Mall! Started my evening with a chocolate espresso martini (options of pumpkin, dark chocolate or vanilla as well) Had the au gratin Brussel sprouts and an arugula salad to share for starters. Moved on to the goulash For hubs and sand dabs for Me. All delish! I love sand bars and these were lightly pan fried served with spatzel. Our server was so sweet and friendly. The foods came out in a timely manner and we never felt rushed. Cute decor-very alpine with edelweiss wallpaper and ski photos on the walls. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant it was my first time trying, and the food was absolutely amazing. The server who was also the bartender for the night was able to create a surprise drink to accompany my dinner based off of me telling him that I liked spicy smoky drinks he made some very delicious with Mezcal the garlic knots were phenomenal the sauce to dip it in was a spicy tomato sauce that complemented the bread very well. The cucumber salad is so refreshing. I will definitely be ordering that again and I can't quite remember the name but the appetizer dish that resembles an authentic Austrian mac & cheese was to die for. Located in the Summit Mall, there is ample parking just south of the restaurant and limited parking directly in front. Upon entering it brings you back to Austria with an open seating area, the walls are decorated with skis and deer. We were immediately met by the hostess/waitress/bartender who seated us. As our group of five was larger than the standard four top seat we put three tables together. Service was impeccable, she was very attentive and immediately took our drink order. We also ordered the.Goulash Poutine and Pretzel, sorry no picture as everyone was hungry, and it barely made it to the table. The pretzel was extremely good, they offer it with honey, and mustard dip, and a special sauce, don't know what it was, but it tasted really good. The goulash had super tender meat along with cheese and sour cream over the Belgian fries, it alone could be a meal and didn't last long. As I have served and spent 1 1/2 years in Germany, traveling all over the Jagerschnitzel with mushroom gravy truly brought me back to that time. I only wish I had done the Belgian Fries with the gravy over them as I used to get in Siegelbach, Germany, it was extremely good.
