Went to The Jesse this morning for the first day of their Turkish Breakfast and I was impressed with the food, ambiance and service. This is a brand new experience for The Jesse, where they served us a spread of Turkish items that were all delicious. This included olives, a tomato salad, 6 different cheeses, spinach pie, eggs, gozleme, assorted breads and dips, sausage in addition to bottomless mimosas, Turkish coffee and tea. All for $30. Everything tasted great. It sounds like this may have been a special for their first time offering a Turkish breakfast so I'm excited to see if and how this changes going forward. read more

WOW. The Jesse has just given Reno a fabulous new way to Sunday brunch Turkish style. I managed to make the initial Sunday brunch with friends. The partly cloudy morning was perfect on the huge patio behind the Jesse. Partially covered by a trellis of flowering vines, some tables in the sun and others under large umbrellas. Some seat inside are also available. Enter through the parking lot and you'll be greeted at the patio entrance. I highly suggest a reservation, glad we had them because this gem won't stay a secret very long. Each table received a literal smorgasbord of Turkish breakfast delights. To start, at the bar there was a long table set up with various breads, dried and fresh fruit, nuts and sliced heirloom tomatoes. I recommend a plate from here to share with the table. At the table numerous dishes will begin to arrive. Let's begin- Cheese plate with cheese and walnuts Olives Cherry tomatoes and cucumbers in olive oil Preserves Honey and clotted cream ( the table was cleaning the bowl with the bread) Breakfast spread- so delicious Sucuk, Turkish sausage, perfect bite sizes Mihlama, cheese fondue that ever bite was made more delicious when dipped in Cilbir, eggs in garlic and yogurt. Mmmm Gozleme, a thin stuffed flatbread Borek, my favorite and next to impossible to find in this area, is a very flaky pastry with cheese Simit, sesame seed ring Bread slices Cay, Turkish tea, incredibly hot Tea Coffee Turkish Coffee, also incredibly hot and powerful Mimosa The service was beyond fabulous, we had various staff members checking on us throughout our leisure hour and a half brunch session. Simply a gorgeous spot for a devine meal with friends. Chef Araceli, of Flavor Studio helped create the menu. I wave my spoon to her, she has outdone herself once again. Friday night on 4th street and found this absolute gem! 3 of us stopped for a drink at this beautiful bar. Ended up outside for a Latin spinning DJ. So much fun dancing and watching all the great dancers enjoying the music and beautiful weather. Beautiful inside space. Great outside seating. Really interesting drink menu. So much fun! We came here for a fun girls happy hour and we even themed it up with a Mrs Roper night. Super fun place with hotel rooms upstairs. Great bar area and outdoor patio. Private parking lot with limited spaces, but convenient. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Britt was fantastic behind the bar and Brock was a fabulous server. He really was great with explaining food, taking our orders, and even getting us to-go containers. The food was delicious and lots of variety. We even met the owner John who came out to speak with us. Overall a great night filled with laughs, great food and drink, plus amazing memories. We will be back. read more

I went to the launch of their new Turkish Sunday Brunch and was blown away. It's a price fixed menu for such a reasonable price point. You don't order off menu--they just start bringing stuff out. There was a cheese plate, tomato and cucumber salad, cheese fondue, sausages, a puff pastry with cheese, stuffed flat bread, and my personal favorite, soft boiled eggs with yogurt and a nice spicy garlic drizzle. They had some amazing dipping options like tahini, Nutella, cream with honey, and this magical Smokey tomato spread. Inside was a beautiful grazing table with even more breads and dried fruits. You can top the meal off with mimosas, Turkish coffee and Turkish tea. The staff was welcoming and friendly and we sat on the patio, which was a perfect setting. Visiting family and they brought us here for Salsa Lessons. Absolutely fun. Great space in and out. Extremely clean. Awesome cocktails and staff. Excellent selection of spirits and creativity put in. A bit slow on the service but enjoyed the wait talking with everyone. Food was brought out temperature appropriate and was flavorful. Fries a guilty pleasure for me that I don't often indulge in was well with the order. Only comment during salsa lessons we were always changing partners. I get why for the social aspect but my party wanted to stay partnered up so we could Practice wirh each other. Suggestion is during the lesson have a section that are willing to switch partners in a section that want to remain with their partner. Laughlin as a room was laughably loud. I could hear everything on the street. Motorcycles, cop cars, regular cars, even conversations. It was the loudest hotel room I've ever stayed in: Vegas. California, New York - Manhattan, Brooklyn - no comparison. And this was on a normal night. The walls were so thin that even though I wore earplugs all night I could barely sleep. The next night I understood why a sound machine was bedside. I plugged it in for white noise and it helped a little. I'm sure it's a great bar at night, i.e. the rest of the reviews. Not a great hotel. I understood why no staff is present and there's no front desk. They'd have complaints every night; there are two other street-side rooms. I let management know via email and they offered coffee and "breakfast" the next morning. They also offered 15% off a future stay but why. I booked direct and paid $80+ more a night than usual. How about a partial refund? What was very disappointing was no coffee in the morning for two days. I booked this hotel in part because there was a cafe downstairs. The cleaning woman, who was the only person on staff present, said the baristas just didn't show up. I got a croissant before I left and the fill-in barista, though very sweet, had no experience. They said this a few times without any prompting and I tipped them well and felt sorry they had to show up and try to figure out the espresso machine. Though it was no fault of theirs, this hotel really didn't live up to its aesthetic or basic services. I wouldn't have even written this review if management didn't have the audacity to text me twice during my workday asking for one. So, here you go, Caner. Please stop now. And Yelpers. don't book a street-side room at this hotel. read more

I love the Jesse, the patio is so spacious and is a great spot to soak up some sun with some friends. I also love coming to the Jesse for salsa nights and hope they continue to do those! I actually really like the updated menu to Mediterranean as I always found the tacos to be too expensive. The feta fries are a must really crispy and the zaatar seasoning is great. We got the beef kebab platter the pitas were yummy, tangy red onion, the beef was a little tough though too chewy but the veggies were amazing and everything looked great on the platter altogether. My passionfruit margarita was delicious and well balanced. The drinks still hit and I'm excited about the mediterranean/middle eastern flair. Our stay was excellent as always. I bring my Labrador, Lilly, and she is treated like the queen she is! The food is always great, and the servers in the restaurant are all friendly and helpful. The owners are very accommodating and responsive. And the rooms, of course, are beautiful! Other reviews mentioned the noise. But it's a city. There are white noise machines in the rooms for those who need them. City noises don't bother me. Today I am relaxing with a cold beverage outside the hotel in the shaded arbor on the patio. Dinner on a Friday night did not disappoint. We were surprised to see lots of open seating. We enjoyed dolmas, Chicken sis Kebab and a Mediterranean Pizza along with a glass of wine. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Mediterranean menu. The bar area is visually pleasing. Piped music was at the right decibel and provided a good vibe. Cute little coffee shop that served old world coffee beans. Love that I have another option to walk over from silver legacy where I usually stay. . I like coming here for the old world coffee expresso and I do like ordering a ice Americano and it is a really great solid espresso drink. It is under $6 around $5.41. It is served all day so I like how there is another option where I can grab a good espresso coffee other than Starbucks while staying near the casino. . The Ambiance here is really nice and I do love the inside where there is plenty of seedings and is very cozy and warm. They have a really nice outdoor patio where it is very relaxing with lots of comfy couches and high tables as well. You can dine outside or Dine inside. I like using the patio during the late afternoons and before Sunset as well to come here in the morning and having a morning coffee with a really nice outdoor patio vibe. The Jesse is a boutique hotel and bar (with Mediterranean bites), just three blocks off of the main drag (Virginia Street) in downtown Reno. I visited the bar and beautiful outdoor patio (not the hotel) in late August, with the one-and-only Michael T. I believe that the concept was previously Mexican (named Estella), and the rebrand to Mediterranean is new. We visited on a surprisingly quiet, spectacularly beautiful summer Tuesday night. We enjoyed cocktails and a sampling of their newer Mediterranean menu (hummus, falafel, salad, and more!). The drink menu was inspired and the cocktails cooled us down on a warm evening. The bites were made with fresh and flavorful ingredients. We lounged outside on the pretty, enclosed patio. We were shocked that it wasn't busier. If you live in Reno, you should check them out. We came to this place on a Sunday evening for my friend bday. I appreciated it being open on a Sunday evening, as many other places weren't. There were only one other couple there, but they had a dj going, which was interesting. He did a fine job, but it made it really loud to try and talk to my friend. Also, this place is modern and beautiful inside. We appreciated the private parking lot, as parking on the street seemed sketchy at best. I felt very entitled sitting lit up in the window eating and listening to music and watching so many homeless people walk by. It always tares up my heart. We were slightly confused becuase we had heard you could order tacos from this place, but that's the place next door that closed. This place only does Greek inspired food. Service was good. We asked for extra pita bread and tzatziki. Their pita bread is so superior to any other I've had. They FRY it. Yes FRY it! My friend is big on Greek food and chose this place. I'm just not big on Greek food in general. The yogurt chicken kabob was charred pretty good but had little flavor. The chick pea meatball things were hard on the outside. It was strange to me. They did give us coupons to come back to free coffee. And their outdoor area is adorable. We will be back just for that for sure. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish. Upon arrival, I immediately texted management to report two issues: the bathroom blinds would not close because the cord was broken (I am a girl with a floor to sealing open window), and the air conditioning was not working properly. Despite reaching out right away, responses never happened and unhelpful. Eventually, I was told the AC was simply on the wrong setting, even though I had already spent time troubleshooting it myself and even looked up the unit instructions online. The larger issue is that when I checked out, I was told I would receive a refund due to the problems experienced during my stay. Later, after they inspected the room, I was informed that because the blinds could be manually adjusted and the issues were supposedly "fixed," they would not honor the refund that had been promised. I traveled here for a work event and was looking forward to staying in a new area, but the lack of responsiveness, the maintenance issues, and the failure to follow through on what was communicated at checkout left a very poor impression. If you value prompt communication, properly maintained accommodations, and management standing behind what they tell guests, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Cuisine: TAPAS--$8.00 to $12.00 for petite servings. A. Wait time: Fifteen minutes for First-Born Daughter receiving her three Tapas. B. Ten minutes later, I was wondering where is the steak and potatoes and when will it be served???? Never arrived . . . WTH~Male Waitstaff never annotated the steak and potatoes on the Restaurant Bill! C. First-Born Daughter had to hail another Male Waitstaff ordering the steak and potatoes, i.e., waited another ten minutes receiving the steak and potatoes: Egregiously disappointed not receiving the steak and potatoes tostada when First-Born Daughter received her three Tapas, the steak and potatoes' portion was shocking minuscule for a "tostada," and the steak and potatoes' presentation was obviously lacking--the steak and potatoes was plopped in the center on a black oval plate, less than a dollop of green chile verde salsa and two slivers of onion adjacent to the steak and potatoes! Went here with the girls to enjoy the outdoor seating. It's big and very cute with couches and string lights. The passionfruit margarita was really tasty. Our server was nice and made sure we were comfortable and happy with our order. The food was perfect for sharing a few different things. We got the buffalo wings with we're pretty standard. The Za'atar fries were bomb! We also shared the SIS Kebap beef plate. The meat was cooked to perfection and really good. I want to come back and try the smash burger. This review is for people staying at the hotel. Good- The Jesse is really charming. It's an old building that has a gated outdoor seating area and a restaurant/bar downstairs. The room was clean, thoughtfully decorated and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Now the not so good-This boutique hotel does not have overnight staff. At 9:30 guests are unable to access the indoor hotel area or outdoor, fenced space. It is noisy bc it's located beside a bus station. Many transient peps. If you need to go out and about at night...you may want to reconsider or have a plan for safety. Overall I enjoyed my stay. Bartenders were fabulous! read more

DOUBLE BOOKED, HIDDEN FEES, LACK OF TRANSPARENCY We booked this venue months in advance for a baby shower, but the week of the event we found out the owner double booked the space, without even communicating this to the in-house planner. We were then asked to adjust our plans and start time to accommodate the owner's mistake. This alone was frustrating, especially given how far in advance we had reserved the space. At the start of the event when the weather turned, the owner moved us to an inside space temporarily. At no point was it mentioned that the temporary movement indoors would come with an additional $500 charge. This was not presented as an optional upgrade with a cost--it was framed as the solution to the situation we were already dealing with. We moved our entire group back outside to the original space out of consideration to free up the inside as soon as weather permitted. Ultimately, we felt backed into a corner, and then forced to pay hidden fees after the event. Lastly, because of the double booking, we didn't even have full access to the indoor space. Part of the venue was occupied by the other group, so we were limited to the bar area. Charging an additional fee for a space that wasn't even exclusively available felt unreasonable. The owner later claimed they had to turn away guests and absorb costs, but none of that was communicated in real time. Our group cleaned up both spaces, and no additional staff was needed to accommodate the event. None of the explanation given justifies charging customers after the fact for something they didn't knowingly agree to. Overall, the lack of transparency, the double booking, and the surprise charge completely overshadowed what should have been a special day. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your event as it appears ownership only cares about making money. read more

For how long I've lived in Reno, I haven't come to The Jesse for cocktails before (wild I know). They have a dedicated parking lot for patrons of The Jesse but it fills up quick. Inside is so pretty cute little bar, with warm and cozy lighting. They have a small food menu with appetizers and then larger shareable items. We opted for the Gyro Platter. Phenomenal! We ordered a lot and had high hopes, the appetizer a pistachio feta was good we had to ask for it to be warmed to room temp as it was cold and kinda non spreadable. We ordered fried veggies those were my favorite, Za'atar fries were ok, they didn't give us dipping sauces w them. The tzatziki plate was egh the pita bread was good. For entrees we ordered the chicken and beef this is where it really went south, the meat was so black with char it was not edible the chicken was tough, So not good all n all, when we asked about deserts they said they just didn't offer them that evening. Update - Appreciated Response from Management I wanted to provide an update following my original review. The next business day, a manager, Jess, contacted me directly by phone. She sincerely apologized for both the erroneous housekeeping report that resulted in the $50 charge and for the excessive noise level during our stay. She explained that the volume we experienced was not typical and that it is not customary for performers to play at that level. I appreciated the prompt response and the acknowledgment of both concerns. The situation with the charge was addressed (and the credit has since appeared on our credit card,) and it was reassuring to have direct communication and accountability from management. As a gesture of goodwill, The Jesse offered to host us for dinner on a future visit, which we found to be very thoughtful. We may take them up on that, as the restaurant was, in our opinion, exceptionally good and a highlight of our experience. In addition to the restaurant, the rooms themselves are well-appointed and comfortable. That said, I would still encourage prospective guests to inquire in advance about any scheduled live music if they are planning a quieter evening or an early night, as the setting may not be ideal for those sensitive to noise. Overall, we appreciated the professionalism demonstrated once management was made aware of the earlier handling, and Jess's exceptional effort to thoughtfully resolve our concerns. _________________________________________________________________ Disappointing Stay at The Jesse Hotel (Pending Resolution) I am hopeful that I will be able to update this review to reflect a prompt and reasonable response from management - specifically, the immediate refund of a $50 charge for an item we did not take, and some consideration regarding the room rate given the level of noise disruption that was not clearly communicated at the time of booking. We recently stayed at The Jesse Hotel and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations overall. To begin on a positive note, the restaurant was excellent. The meal was outstanding, and Ashley provided warm, attentive service that we genuinely appreciated. That was, however, the highlight of our stay. I was aware there might be live music at the bar (likely from another online review), but what we experienced went far beyond what would reasonably be expected. The noise level was extreme - the bass was so intense that the walls of our room were vibrating. A white noise machine was provided, which we initially assumed was for street noise, but it was no match for the volume coming from the bar below. While the music did eventually stop around 11:30 p.m., the level of disruption made it very difficult to relax or rest. More concerning was what happened after our stay. Two days later, I noticed a $50 charge on my credit card from The Jesse. We had not been provided a folio (I have searched my email several times.) When I called the hotel, I was told the charge was for a "missing lotion container" reported by housekeeping and the person offered to "send me a photo of the missing item," which I found puzzling. - a photo of something not there? This was surprising, as the only toiletries we saw were wall-mounted dispensers in the shower. He insisted that when we checked in, it was there and then housekeeping reported it was missing. We did not take any items, and yet the charge was applied without notification or an opportunity to address the claim. As far as the noise, the Jesse representative defaulted to the noise policy outlined in the Guest Arrangement. Admittedly, I did not READ the entire agreement because I was expecting it to be consistent with the experience I would expect at any small/boutique hotel. However, even the language in the agreement includes that the guest should consider this before booking. However, this was NOT brought to my attention at the time of booking three weeks earlier. And the reality of the noise level far exceeded what most guests would reasonably anticipate from such wording. Between the excessive noise and the unexplained charge, the overall experience was disappointing. While the restaurant is worth visiting, I would not recommend staying at the hotel unless you are fully prepared for a very loud environment and are comfortable with the possibility of unexpected post-stay charges. read more

When visiting Reno and Lake Tahoe for two days we stayed at The Jesse for two nights. They were accommodating and super nice! The bar and grill has amazing food, we tried the ground lamb with rice and roasted veggies (you should try it!) good taste and worth it! The rooms are beautifully remodeled with comfortable king bed and a huge walk in shower! The view, well ... can't say it was wonderful but everything was enough to enjoy the room. I do have to say that there is no elevator and all rooms are on the upper levels. If you cannot do stairs, not recommended. We did have our dogs, it went very well. read more

We spent a weekend at the Jesse with our pitbull and it was a wonderful experience!! We were celebrating a birthday and the staff helped me surprise my boyfriend with balloons and cake waiting in our room upon our arrival. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. We were also in walking distance to the downtown casinos, which was super fun! I'm glad there was a reasonably priced, chic option on our trip to Reno and we will definitely be staying here again! read more

If you want a place to grab a drink that has great aesthetic and vibes, The Jesse is your spot! The backlight behind the bar. The exposed brick walls. The giant plants. The dim lighting. The beautiful decor. It's all stunning and comes together to create such a lovely atmosphere! We came on a Monday, so of course we had to participate in Margarita Monday! Margs were $9 each and were good but not the best I've had. They have some great drink options but I usually come here more for the aesthetic than for the drinks themselves. Some of the drinks feel overpriced and servings can be small. They have a really nice patio out back and a cute taco shop there too--it's a fun place to hang out when the weather is warmer.
