She did a great job explaining the entire treatment process with me, then went over some figures and offered some very flexible 0% interest payment plans. So I just had my final appointment with Dr. Curtis today due to the fact that I'm moving out of the state. I'm truly sad to leave this office since I've made such great progress with Dr. Curtis' expertise with the Damon system. The outcome so far has exceeded my expectations with my teeth as an adult patient. I would like to note that I have had trust issues with past orthos and also have had bad/ineffective treatments along with it in the past (this is my third time with braces as an adult). I have failed miserably as a mom when it comes to my daughter's teeth. I have entrusted her to some incompetent and unethical dentist. They have extracted 3 baby molars without any preventive care. Now her mouth is crowded and there is malocclusion. I have prayed that I would find an orthodontist that could help. Thanks to yelp I'm so grateful I found Dr. Curtis. Two things about this place caught my interest: Tero Imaging scan and Damon Braces. No gooey impressions and no painful traditional braces with molar bands. Dr. Curtis has to fix a damage caused by other people and that in itself is short from being a miracle worker. We've had 4 visits so far. I know my daughter's case is not an easy case. She really has no teeth and you need teeth to anchor the wires.... and as her teeth comes in he'll have more options... but in the mean time he had to take his depth of knowledge into gear 4 and had to be creative with the wires in bending them for strength.... dang I was so impressed....that takes some mad skills.... I really feel that Dr. Curtis treats his patients as if he's treating his own daughters and sons. That requires a lot of thought and care.... and I truly feel my daughter is with great skillful hands. I feel so blessed to have found him for my daughter. I can finally forgive myself. His staff is at another level.... such care and professionalism and undeniable friendliness. Which is also a reflection of what a great Boss Dr. Curtis is...I can sense they all love working there... This is the beginning of a long journey but I feel hopeful. I no longer have nightmares about what I've put my daughter through... My child started braces a year and a half ago. Dr Curtis is great. The office staff especially Janine is rude and unhelpful. They billed insurance incorrectly and it's been a year of trying to correct the problem without follow up and rude voices when I try to find solutions myself. Appointments are so difficult to schedule and parents are not welcomed to wait for their child in the office during appointments. I have to pull my child from school each appointment and wait in my car. We had a fundraiser at school and they were uninterested completely. When I asked about participating (12 other practices in the area (dentist/medical) were recognized for contributing) I got no response and then some generic website telling me how great they are. It feels stuffy around the staff and they discourage any questions explanations or family involvement the minute you pay in full. So disappointed. read more

I figured I should update my review now that care has been completed. Things at Tagawa and Curtis started out great, as I pointed out in my previous review. They were organized and informational and all that. But then once I decided to go with them for my orthodontic care, I felt like the level of care dropped greatly. One thing that bothered me greatly was that their schedule was not very flexible. I am a grad student with a pretty busy schedule, and it was really hard to find appointment times that matched my schedule. They also want you to schedule visits wayyyy in advance, which was hard to do when my school ran on a quarter schedule and I wouldn't know my schedule 2-3 months out. It seems like they are open late enough (5:30 is what the website says), but when it comes to scheduling appointments it always seemed like the latest appointment was around 3, maybe 4. I would take this into consideration if you have a busy schedule or even just work a regular 9-5. Then there was the periodic visits. Why did it feel like every time I had an appointment I would show up 10-15 minutes early, but then end up waiting 10-15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen? And if you don't have an appointment (for example, rubber band popped off, anything broken, etc), be prepared to WAIT and WAIT. No matter how simple the repair may be. I was also disappointed with how little time the doctor spends with you versus the time spent with the dental assistant. Granted, they still make an effort. I got a call a day or two after I got my braces on asking how I was doing and tolerating the pain and discomfort. That's nice. The same phone call took place after a pretty harsh tightening of the wire, too. That was nice, too. But these 'nice' gestures were too few and far between all the negatives. Everything I stated in my previous review still holds true. The initial appointments were great and the wooden nickel program runs throughout the course of treatment (I think I got $20 in target gift cards--not a big dent on the thousands I spent there). I also do want to point out that I get compliments on my smile and teeth frequently. So the end result is there. I just don't know if I enjoyed the journey very much. read more

I just finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Curtis and I wanted to write a quick review because a) I am SO HAPPY with the results and b) Dr. Curtis and his entire staff are all amazing people. They are all absolutely excellent at what they do, and they're all super friendly and they make you feel welcome every time you come into the office. Dr. Curtis is wonderful and takes the time to explain everything that is going to happen in detail - I always felt very comfortable with my treatment because I knew what to expect and any questions I had were answered. No pressure to go with any particular treatment choice, they just explained the options and the benefits and drawbacks of each one, and how long it would take and what results I could expect. The office is super clean and nice, scheduling appointments is easy, and every single person who works there is warm and welcoming. They also have a lot of fun... they celebrate whenever anyone gets their braces (or Invisalign) off. I also feel very confident that I got the best possible treatment for me, because they use the latest treatments, the best technology - everything is top notch. My oral surgeon said I needed to have my teeth straightened before I could have gum surgery, and I am SO happy he did because I love how my teeth look - can't stop smiling at myself in the mirror. :) I chose the Invisalign because I didn't want to have visible braces on my teeth 24/7 and it worked out great. Turned out better than I ever could have expected. In summary, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Curtis and I am so thankful that I was referred here - the whole thing has been a great experience from start to finish. read more

I just finished my adventure in orthodontia and let me say, I couldn't be happier! I had the Daemon braces another reviewer spoke of an really had no issue with brackets and wires braking.... Except the time I ate a raw carrot and the time I ate a fist full of almonds but that was totally my fault haha. All I know is that I had VERY croocked teeth and a big ol' snaggle tooth two years ago and now 22 months later I have a beautiful smile. I won't make my smile the focus of this review, however, because I kinda assume that all orthodontists can align teeth. Instead, I want you to know about the office itself. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the doctors were great and very knowledgeable, and the office has a great vibe overall. I was nervous about the thought of getting braces at 24 years old, but the crew at T&G really made the experience better than I could have imagined. I loved this office so much that when I moved to AZ three months ago I decided to stay with them.... Yes, I actually finished off my last three appointments at T&G rather than finding someone else in Phoenix. Crazy? Maybe. But that, my fellow Yelpers, is what having a wonderful staff and welcoming environment can do to a patient... And I think I'm okay with that. read more
