Welcome to a clean bright office! Both of my kids were greeted immediately by the friendly staff as soon as we entered. We were running a bit late, but they were able to seat us for the scheduled consultation almost immediately. The full mouth scan for my son was quick and breezy. Kim kept my son calm through out and Dr. Chung came in to examine and provide suggestions on possible future services. Thankfully he did not try to sell us on any procedures and scheduled a follow up. Dr. Chung also showed us the state-of-the-art 3D scanners that maps the entire mouth in color for when we get started. There is plenty of support on-site. I came in as an older patient (- 50's) with a very difficult case. My alignment was very bad that developed over a long period of time. I especially had a severe crowding and a very high protuding upper canine tooth that made me shy from smiling in pictures. Because of my age, I wanted to have Invisalign so as to not be as visible. I researched several orthodontist offices and many of the doctors said my case was too difficult for Invisalign and would not even consider doing it. I chose Brio because they listened to my needs and carefully planned out a course for best results. I started my treatment plan with Dr. Kim but then Dr. Chung took over the practice. I found out Dr. Chung is one of very few orthodontist that actually has a higher degree of certification than other doctors in the area. Meeting Dr. Chung, he was very warm and made you feel at ease. He explained things with great detail in a way that was easy to understand. More than half way through my treatment, Dr. Chung felt that things were not progressing as well as what was planned by previous doctor. I just finished my braces journey and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kim and his entire staff. I had a fairly significant open bite that really needed jaw surgery to fix and Dr. Kim worked miracles because my bite came together nicely and I didn't get the surgery. On 11/29/2022 I contacted Dr. Kim at Brio for traditional braces based on a referral from a cosmetic dentist in the area. Mrs. Kim who takes incoming calls is a very good salesperson on the phone and told me they could easily fix my problem and get me started that day. When I got there I was talked into a full up front payment at a discount. Next I was put in a chair and they proceeded to add the hardware without any explanation of how my treatment plan would work. I kept asking questions but I was told don't worry, no problem! When they were done I only had brackets on 20 out of 24 teeth. I was told they would fix it next time. I also noted that I would need my teeth shaved to make room to straighten them. Neither was ever done. My case should have been simple because I previously wore braces and never wore my retainer. However, it was clear Dr. Kim did not understand or care about my case. They are only concerned about how much money they could get out of me. Within weeks my lower front teeth started moving forward and caused severe damage and chipping because my teeth were colliding. I also experienced a very severe case of dry mouth from the materials they were using. I was just told "drink more water". Dry mouth can cause serious dental problems and decay. Over and over I tried to get help but I was just dismissed with an excuse, told to wait or sold another product. After months went by I was desperate for help and went to the referring dentist for a 2nd opinion. He agreed I had a problem and my bite was causing damage. He told me he would call Dr. Kim and get a solution. I sent Dr. Kim an email outlining all of the problems in writing and told him about the consultation. I never got a response so a few days later I called to follow up. I was told to come in immediately. When I arrived Dr. Kim was noticeably angry and demanded to remove my braces and terminate my treatment. I cried and didn't understand why he was being so nasty. My teeth were now loose and removing the braces in mid treatment would cause more damage. I finally realized I had no option so I requested a temporary retainer so my teeth would be held in place until I could find another orthodontist. He ordered a permanent retainer and added another $400.00 to my account. Out of over $5200.00 in charges I was offered an insulting $2000 refund which I refused. Now I have to sue to get my money back so I can afford to get my teeth fixed by another Orthodontist. Dr. Kim and his wife failed to follow their Hippocratic Oath to do no intentional harm. The oath also describes the importance of sympathy and understanding throughout the care of a patient. The dental Hippocratic Oath also reminds the dentist that prevention is preferable to cure of disease. Their malpractice caused me great harm to my dental health. read more

There are several great Ortho offices in our area, but Brio is at the top of my list. Not only are they honest with their recommendations, they will treat you like you were their own family member with genuine care and honesty. Dr. John Kim and his wife Dr. Yisho Kim are both skilled in their practice providing honest and quality care. Marcie is fantastic and is always greeting patients at the front office. Recently, my son was in the hospitalized for two weeks. During that time, his braces caused him extreme pain due to his mouth being swollen and other complications. He couldn't eat or drink for several days. The random dentist assigned to the hospital recommended that they remove his braces temporarily so that he could be relieved from his pain from the braces (this concerned me for couple reasons, but also thinking my Ortho may not like this option). I happened to be at Brio the following day for something entirely different but had shared with Dr. Yisho Kim about our situation. Without any hesitation, Dr. Kim offered and insisted that they would come to CHOC hospital at any point in the day that was convenient to us with their tools to address my sons discomfort with his braces. I was speechless. What Orthodontist would take time out of their busy day, or their own personal time after seeing patients all day, and drive from Yorba Linda to CHOC Hospital in Orange during 6pm traffic to help their patient??? I'm sure they were tired and hungry and could've easily gone home to enjoy their evening, as we all would've done. Instead, they got in their car and drove in traffic to help my son! Words can not express the gratitude we felt for this priceless gesture. After the adjustments were made to my sons braces, he had immediate relief (he had been in pain for several days and had difficulty eating and drinking). The best part is that we didn't have to take his braces off!! He was able to eat and drink again! It was a amazing! I was in tears. My words on yelp can't even come close to the gratitude my husband and I feel for Brio. The team of medical doctors at CHOC that were assigned to my son were flabbergasted at the level of service Brio delivered that night. They couldn't believe our orthodontist drove to us at the hospital after a full day of seeing patients! If you're looking for an Ortho that would make decisions and treat you like they would treat their own family, then this is the place for you. My words probably can't convince you, but if you give them a try, my review will be validated after your first visit. My family and I will be forever grateful to Brio. read more

Do not allow this orthodontist to shave your child's front teeth. It has left a gap in between both of my daughter's two front teeth at the bottom. Both of my children have had to do double orthodonture now trying to close that gap. It has been about 12 years or so, so I am trying to let parents aware. read more

Dr. Kim and the staff at BRIO Orthodontics are top notch - skilled, friendly and helpful. We did a lot of research to get our twin teenagers braces with a skilled professional at competitive prices. We are so glad it led us to BRIO! Our first contact was with Ingrid, the practice manager. She's very knowledgeable and straightforward. Nothing was "high pressure sales" like we encountered elsewhere. Just the facts delivered with a genuine smile. Working as a team with Dr. Kim and his wife Dr. Yisho Liu (a general dentist), and Ingrid, BRIO offered us several treatment options. In the end we designed a combo of lingual and ceramic braces for one daughter, and lingual braces for the other. This approach was cost effective and yet allowed our girls to have braces that are barely noticeable. We're in the first month of treatment and already Dr. Kim has personally called to see how the girls are doing, and set a special appointment to soften some sharper areas that were causing pain. BRIO is all about the people. They don't charge extra for special appointments, such as to fix broken or bent braces, wires, etc. or make adjustments. They also have a "BRIO Bucks" program that rewards good behavior such as flossing and kept-appointments. We're at the start of a nearly two year treatment plan. After researching 2 other orthodontist, one in Placentia and another Yorba Linda ortho.. I decided on Brio. At our initial consultation, I immediately liked the modern upbeat feel of the office. Snacks and a refrigerator with beverages for the kids, a keurig for coffee, cool puzzles for the kids ect. very nice and clean. Ingrid who runs the front office was very welcoming. They took pictures of my 10 year old daughter, we met the orthodontist who looked at her teeth and talked with us quite a bit about the whole process. He answered all my questions. Ingrid then gave us a run down on the price and how we could break it up into monthly payments- no finance charges - everything was laid out very simply with a written quote. It was very straight forward, no pressure and the consultation was free. The price was very competitive and I felt it was a no brainer to go with Brio. The quote included everything. I felt like my daughter would get the best care there and at an affordable price that wouldn't break me. The office also didn't feel like "a mill" where 100s of kids are seen daily, it's more of a family practice where they remember my name and that is important to me. Anyways- she had her braces put on last week and that was an easy appointment too. After her braces were on they sat my daughter down and consulted with her on the proper care of her braces and answered all her questions. All using a computer power point type presentation which I feel was very helpful at showing her how to keep her braces clean. The office also has worked with me on our very busy schedule and will see us on Fridays which is fantastic for us. very accommodating. They also use a fun incentive type program with the kids called "brio bucks". The orthodontist is very nice, his wife who gave us the run down on braces care was very nice too.
