This review is specifically for the service department. While buying the trailer was clearly a better experience, they do not have the same degree of customer service in their maintenance department. This company has apparently hired several staff that are clearly incompetent, and I'm hopeful that I can explain the totality of what occurred to me so that other customers don't have to experience the same thing. First, I live in Seattle. I bought the trailer from Curtis in 2014. After my first camping outing, one of my front landing legs buckled, and I promptly called (and emailed) to investigate my warranty options. I left both voicemails and emails to the gentleman that sold me the trailer. Without any exaggeration, it took over two months to get a response, which was eventually via email. The rep that responded was very apologetic and stated that they were very busy. As I explained the situation about the landing leg, he implied user error; yet, suggested that I could come down to get the trailer repaired for full cost. Since operating a trailer was obviously new to me, I accepted that I may have been the cause of the damage. I decided to hold off on the repair - until March 2017. I called the service department in early March to determine if they could repair a few items, which obviously included my front landing leg. They stated that I could bring the trailer down, and that it would be completed within 2-3 weeks. Shortly thereafter, I made the trip to Portland, handed them my travel trailer, and returned home to Seattle. The service rep called the next day with an estimate, and also listed a few items that needed to be repaired: (1) the front landing leg, (2) a small part for the rear landing leg, and (3) a battery disconnect switch. The total damage was expected to be around $800. I authorized the work. The next day, my service rep called and asked if I could drive back down to Portland (from Seattle) to pick up my trailer to give them space to work on other trailers. He said, "it would be nice if you can come get your trailer while your parts are being ordered so that we can work on other trailers". Ummm, no thank you. The rep was frustrated, and after a minute or two, we ended the call. The trailer stays put. Four weeks later, I call Curtis. I called to check on the status of the work. The gentleman that I spoke with said that he'd check my file to give me a status. Long story short, the parts were delayed, and the work hadn't began. I stated that my service rep said that the trailer would be ready in 2-3 weeks, and this rep told me that that was a lie. Excuse me? Huh? I asked him if he was present when I was on the phone, and he then stated that he didn't want to argue. He ended the call, stating that they'd call me when the work was done. Three weeks later, I call again to get a status update. The person that I talked to had to check the file. Again, they are awaiting parts / backordered... Again, I was told that I'd be contacted when the trailer was complete. At this point, I am super pissed, and am contemplating going down to Portland to retrieve my trailer. Two days later, I get a call from a guy who's been asked to "fix the mess" with my trailer. He stated that the parts would have normally arrived within a week; however, THEY WERE NEVER ORDERED. I promptly told him that I spoke with two different service reps that assured me that they were in route; however, he apologized and said that wasn't true. He stated that they were going to order the parts (that day), and that the trailer would be ready in a couple weeks. Keep in mind, one of their service reps accused me of lying for this very issue. Finally, I get a call a couple weeks later. The trailer is finished and ready to be picked up! I cleared my calendar and headed down to retrieve my trailer. Pull out the checkbook... How much??? The guy says $1400. I tell him that I had a verbal estimate for $800. He explained that the rear landing leg needed a few more parts and that it would be cheaper to replace the legs than to fix the parts. I asked him, assertively, if I had authorized that work. After the 2nd time hearing that question, he stated that I didn't authorize the work, and he understood why I was upset. He then states that they would waive some of the labor costs, to the tune of about $100. So, essentially, my estimate almost doubled. Punching him in the face crossed my mind, but I'm not a violent guy. I whipped out my checkbook to pay for it so that I could get off their property as soon as possible. Trailer comes out.... I do an inspection. Tail lights don't work. Without blinking, the service guy says that "it was probably like that when you brought it down here". At this point, I think I'm being recorded on Punk'd. Seriously? They take the trailer back to the shop, spend a few hours with it, and correct their problem. Finally, it's time to go home! I hop in my vehicle, pull out the lot, and the damn brakes don't work. read more

If I could give Curtis Trailers 0 stars I would, in fact negative stars would be better. If you want to get mislead, lied to, and succumb to the old bait-and-switch, then Curtis trailers is the place for you!! After purchasing our 1 year old trailer from them they called us 2 weeks later asking us to bring the trailer back because they didn't fix something that "should have been fixed before it ever left the lot" to quote one of their service technicians. After some discussion, they agreed to give us a $50 gas card and fix it in 1 day since we were coming from an hour and half away. Cue the BAIT-AND-SWITCH! When dropping the trailer off we also mentioned that one of the storage doors would not open (which had been that way since we bought it) and they said they would look at it. Please keep in mind we have not even had an opportunity to take our trailer out for a trip yet! Upon returning to the lot to pick up our trailer, we were told that we would no longer be receiving our $50 gas card because they fixed our trailer storage door "free of charge". They never asked us if we wanted them to fix it, and they never asked us or gave us the option to choose the $50 gas card rather than fixing the door. Upon looking at the paperwork I saw that to fix the door they had to add "screws and some lubricant". Absolutely astonished as to why screws and lubricant would cost $50 I went in and asked one of the technicians about it. I said we were told we would receive a $50 gas card, but only after returning to pick up our trailer were then told our storage door was fixed instead. I asked him how much it cost to fix the door, to which he responded "$147, that's our hourly rate, $147". SOOOOO, on top of being mislead into buying a trailer we had no idea had something wrong with it, we were then allowed to take it home and drive it (including driving it back up there upon their request) with an issue that they said should have never been allowed to leave the lot, but then they found a way to weasel their way out of giving us the $50 gas card they promised us to fix their mistake. On top of all of that I HIGHLY recommend nobody get their trailer serviced here if adding screws and lubricant takes their technicians AN HOUR! That's just scary! My dead grandfather could change screws and lubricant quicker than that! All that to say Curtis Trailers mislead us, lied to us, and tricked us into coming all the way back to Portland to fix their mistake to screw us one last time...no pun intended. read more

Our brand new trailer was side-swiped on our first long trip... just before the COVID stuff hit the air moving machine and dragged everything to a halt. Curtis took a look at the trailer the weekend after we got home, made the estimate, contacted the other guy's insurance company, ordered the parts... and everything stopped. COVID closed the factory and their suppliers so nothing was available. Curtis kept on the job, worked with the factory and got the parts in (9 month job...) Once they were in, we were scheduled in and they finished everything on-time, including some "add-ons" that we wanted. When we picked it up, we found another item that needed fixint (unrelated to the accident) and they fixed it on the spot. And found the battery box was damaged and replaced it, as well. The trailer was returned clean, the interior looked vacuumed and mopped, the exterior was cleaned and ready to go (no moss or dark water-streaks anywhere). We purchased our "Dreamer" (a Sporttrek 333VFK Touring edition) at Curtis, have had it repaired there and would (and have) recommended them to others. My recommendation to anyone with repairs to be done is to be clear on what you expect, then follow-up with them when you have questions. Remember, they are working on YOUR trailer or RV, they have to deal with the Manufacturer or other vendor to get parts and in today's COVID world, it seems like everyone wants a new RV... yesterday. They have a LOT on their plate and things can get missed, conversations forgotten. You have to be an advocate for yourself, but being nice to someone that is repairing/improving your equipment goes a long way to getting the job done the way you want it to be. I read some of the reviews and it seems like the customer has a chip on their shoulder, or did not express their expectations clearly (nor received a reality check when their expectations were unrealistic). This is our third trailer, one purchased privately and the second from another dealer. I would recommend Curtis, if they have the trailer you want. read more

We recently bought a new Lance Travel Trailer from Curtis Trailers. We were very pleased with the new trailer and the service we received from the dealership and from our Trailer Salesman, Mitchell Stedman. Upon first meeting him he was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the trailer we were looking at. At no point did he pressure us or try to hurry us into making a decision to purchase. He patiently answered multiple pages of question my wife had on a list to ask. When we decided that the trailer we were looking at was what we wanted to purchase, Mr. Stedman was very knowledgeable in helping us get all the paperwork in order for financing. Then he helped us get a appointment to get our pickup ready for towing a trailer. (ie: electric brakes and hitch) He even gave us his recommendation for the easiest to use and best trailer hitch to purchase. Then when it was time to take the trailer home he gave a thorough walk around explaining all the specific's of how to use all the parts of the new trailer, and there are many parts to explain. This included the inside and outside parts of it. He never hurried us and was willing to answer even more question we had. It was even getting close to closing time and he never appeared to let that matter to him. He was more than willing to stay as long as it took to make us happy with our new purchase. So far we are very pleased with our new trailer. We have not had the opportunity to actually take it out for its maiden voyage yet, but have been very pleased with the entire experience working with Curtis Trailers and especially Mitchell Stedman. I would highly recommend Mitchell Stedman to anyone wishing to buy a new trailer. read more

The aft air conditioner on our Bighorn 3750FL started making a low frequency vibrating noise when trying to startup. I called Curtis Trailer, spoke to Toby and scheduled a date to bring the rig in that would fit my schedule. On the day of the appointment I was preparing the rig to transport, as I was moving in a slide, it made a loud popping noise and ceased to move. I ended up pushing it in as best as possible. Upon arrival at Curtis, I spoke to the service adviser, John McKenzie, and explained I had an appointment for the air conditioner, and that the slide had made a loud popping noise and that we were full-timers and needed it back as soon as possible. John said the diagnosis should be complete by 1:00. By 2:00 the technician, Lou, was almost finished repairing the slide and would be starting on the air conditioner. Another technician/foreman, Mike Hoosier, stepped up to help Lou with the air conditioner. At 4:00 the service department was closing, Lou had 1 piece of fascia left to attach and he would be done. Lou stayed over to get this finished for us. What great teamwork and dedication to customer service by all at Curtis Trailer in Portland. My wife and I have been customers of Curtis Trailers for over 10 years. The Curtis travel trailer specialists impressed us when we first met them at a large trailer show. They were friendly and very knowledgeable. They asked us what our needs and wants were regarding our camping plans, and then they showed us what would eventually meet our needs rather than trying to sell us something more expensive. We sold that trailer last year and immediately went to Curtis Trailers in Aloha again, where Mike O'Brian gave us more professional help. His professional help resulted in us buying a fantastic Cougar trailer. When it comes to service, Curtis Trailers is again the best around. Linda, in the service department, is always there with a big smile and a great attitude. We know that we will get the best professional service in the business when the service crew is there for us. Last, and not the least: the parts department. Again, the folks behind the counter and out in the aisles are there to give the best help. We can't say enough good things about Curtis Trailers. I visited Curtis Trailer yesterday (2015-05-08) with the intention of just picking up a drain for my Apache Pop Up Camper trailer. I was very surprised of the wealth of knowledge the gentleman I was speaking to had (Rick). His patience with all my questions (as this was a new camper to me, and my first) was absolutely phenomenal. Although their prices were bit higher than most inlcuding the internet I was very happy to spend a couple extra bucks on other items that I could of gained elsewhere for the exchange of the knowledge given to me. I will mention this, they're very busy and while you ask questions they may be doing 3 other things at the same time ( including making phone calls ) while this may rub others the wrong way as in rude. I am a business owner myself and I find that while yes this is a bit rude. They are trying to satisfy everyone and they just may not have the staff to accomidate it and the current revenue stream to higher more staff. P.S. I signed up to Yelp because of their service. We have just purchased our second RV from Curtis Trailers. They have been wonderful from start to finish. We had our questions answered and any concerns were met with great knowledge from our salesman Mike. It is really great to have the same person help you from start to finish, showing it, paperwork, financing and going over how everything works and the sales people at Curtis do it that way. Not having several different contacts make things run smoothly for everyone. Even though it might take a bit of time to get an appointment, (I always think of it like a restaurant, I would rather eat at a busy restaurant than one I can just sit down in.) Aaron in the service department helped us address problems and completed services from their winterization program to a problem with my hot water heater. They have even went as far as helping me resolve problems over the phone while I was out camping. My relatives were enroute from Seattle to here in Portland to attend my grandson's wedding. Some of them were planning to stay in my 5th Wheel, at an RV Park close to the wedding site. It had been almost a full year since I hooked up the 5vr, so, of course, I forgot to unplug the 50amp power cord when I pulled the trailer from its shed to the driveway. Pulled the cable out of the trailer, destroyed the receptacle, and the trailer brakes and running lights were out. I called Curtis Service and told them about the family members on the road to stay in a trailer I had just severely wounded. AND THEY MADE ROOM FOR ME in their packed Spring-prepping work load! Within two hours, everything was back to perfect! Yes, I had to pay the "fine" for being dumb. But it was less than I thought it would be. Curtis Trailers is Good People! read more

My wife and I just purchased our second travel trailer at Curtis trailer and we had a wonderful experience with our sales person Brett Williams. He was very knowledgeable of the many features and equipment their RV's have and no pressure sales from start to finish. When we picked up our new keystone cougar travel trailer Brett did a thorough walk-through with us explaining every feature on the interior and exterior of the travel trailer and extra tips. With the quality and the standard features that are included, I felt like I got a lot for the money. It's always nice when you get superior service when making an important purchase. I also want to give a shout out to their parts department and the parts specialist that helped us with a few of the camping essentials and well priced mats and camping chairs. O stars. They cheated and lied to me about service work and what they billed Myself and Brinkley for warranty work. 8hrs to replace a shower door, Really? Curtis Slide gear replacement, Brinkley paid 4.3 hrs and then they billed me another $587 that Curtis said Brinkley did not pay under warranty but they never submited it to Brinkley. I agreed to pay anything Brinkley did not. Brinkley paid everthing Curtis submited but Curtis did not submit it all. At he end of the day Brinkley paid curtis for what was submitted and then billed me an addtional$1300+ which I had to pay to get my new R/V back from them. I have been in contact with Brinkley and they are not happy about this situation and are trying to help. Brinkley is GREAT, Curtis trailers is horrible and they LIE!! Stay away from Curtis trailers. The wife and I have been living in our 5th wheel for 3 years and finally the furnace went out. OMG!, No heat in January ! I called Curtis Trailers and talked with Shevawn in service. She was very understanding to our situation, and had a workman out to our trailer 3 hours later. Wow ! Talk about quick service. the technician, CJ, found the problem, the computer board, and said he would be back the next morning. Next morning, Shevawn called me to reassure me CK was on his way, and soon , there he was, he made the repair and there was heat. My wife was very happy. CJ was wonderful. I have a 2019 Keystone Alpine and the refrigerator quit after 6 months. The dealership I purchased from would not help with getting the warranty repairs completed. I called Curtis and they couldn't have been more helpful. Shevawn In the service department was extremely helpful and kept me apprised of every step in the process. Technician CJ who had to come out twice before the part was ordered was so pleasant and explained everything to me so that I could understand. When the part came in and CJ returned to replace the cooling unit, which was no easy task taking the refrigerator out of the RV, Richard came to help. I shopped for a new travel trailer by looking at 6 dealers in Eugene and Junciton City (since I live in that area), 3 in Salem and finally found Curtis Trailers on line in Portland. I decided to drive to Portland and check out one more place to see if I could get a beter deal. Curtis Trailer was the only one who started out at a great price w/o any of the used car salesman tactics. The price they offered me on similar trailers at the other dealers was substantially lower than the "best" offers I had been shown. I would advise anyone shopping for trailers to start there first. And after we bought it, had a silly problem, and he made darn sure it was handled, taken care of and we were happy! Couldn't ask for a better salesman in this world. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's my parents would travel from Idaho and deal ONLY with Curtis trailer. I could never understand why they would come so far until, now years later, my husband and I visited Curtis trailers and purchased our own trailer. Customer service is amazing! The trailer prices are very competitive, and we were completely satisfied with how our salesman handled the entire purchase from beginning to end.
