The outside of Custard Castle is like going back in time to your childhood of summer nights when you were so excited to get an ice cream treat! The staff was extremely friendly even though they were closing in 10 minutes, the two women who waited on us asked us if we wanted whipped cream, cherries etc, very thoughtful and thorough! They seemed to work as a team which is important at a small business! My hot fudge sundae was everything it should be, cold ice cream melting under hot fudge with a cherry marinating until the end. My boyfriend got a chocolate soft serve with chocolate jimmies and it was loaded with both. So glad we got there before they closed!!! read more

I had the Iced Coffee both times I went here, along with a Mango Water Ice. I adore the Ice Coffee and Mango Water Ice

Since it changed owners, it's not worth it. Very expensive for cheap very small custard & the frozen yogurt was like ice milk. I also got a pup cup. It wasn't a normal pup cup. It was just a little bit of ice cream. No peanut butter no bone that's a first. Especially, for the price. read more

I was there last weekend and purchased the exact same items and I was charged less than this time around. Also the cups got smaller. Not my first time buying from here. When I questioned why they were smaller/different I was told they always been this size. Not true but sure - whatever. Last time I shop here. Custard Castle is a bit of a tradition in my family. As we traveled down to my grandparents' house in Ocean City, NJ dozens of times each summer my father would utilize back roads as opposed to the AC Expressway/Garden State Turnpike route. These roads were - and remain - way less congested and more scenic, often just as fast if not faster than the previously mentioned route and can cut back on your toll expenditure. That being said, if you end up taking 322/the Black Horse Pike towards Ocean City or Sea Isle you will inevitably roll by many fun little shops and restaurants (and strip clubs) some of which time have forgotten, many of which are abandoned. One of these is THE Custard Castle. Now that my story is out of the way... The Custard Castle is a fairly standard independently owned (?) ice cream shack with a massive menu of cool treats and even some hot eats. You got your soft serve, hard ice cream, milk shakes, blizzards, sundaes, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. I recently returned and service remains friendly and the ice cream remains inexpensive. I highly recommended getting off the major highway at some point. See the local sights, get some ice cream and have a more relaxed drive down to the shore. P.S. I never would have suspected an ice cream shop from my childhood in the middle-of-nowhere New Jersey would be my 200th review! read more
