We were a tad late picking him up because the train was running behind but they said it wasn't a problem and we got him just in the nick of time. They even allow dogs to spend the night, if the train is late, free of charge!! Since I don't speak dog I can't 100% say how Smax enjoyed himself but he seemed tuckered our and happy to see me at the end of a long day of playing! I highly recommend this place for pups because they are very affordable, friendly staff, and located right down the street from the train!

However, my experience with Durango Pet Sitting was so perfect in every way they deserve five stars! We were traveling to the Durango area from California for a vacation. I was SO concerned about finding the right sitter for our pup while we toured around (ATV rides, rafting, etc.) and I'm so glad I chose Durango Pet Sitting because everything went perfect. First, the communication before and during our pup Ivy's visit was clear, timely and Cheryl never failed to respond to a message and clearly communicated and understood what our requests for Ivy were. Second, Cheryl perfectly executed our plan to visit Ivy at our campground. She was there at the times we requested (one day she visited Ivy 3'x in one day). She sent a text message after each visit and with pictures of our little lady. Finally, I should mention I own a couple of pet sitting businesses (don't think Cheryl knows this) so my expectations are through the roof when caring for dogs. Cheryl is amazing and we will use her services again should we be traveling this way in the future.

We were in Durango to take the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge steam train that…read moredeparts Durango shortly after 8am and because this place is not in town we had no choice but to board the furry friend for two nights so we dropped the pooch the night before the trip When I called from Silverton I was told that because he is very submissive and non aggressive they were going to isolate him for the night so others wont make him feel as scared with all the barking. At the time they were only open until 6pm so knowing the train arrived at 6 there was no way we could be there to pick him up the day of the trip so that is why we paid for the second night, and I see now that their hours have been extended until 7:30pm , when we got there the morning of the third day and they went to get him, it took a while for the handler to come back but when the handler finally came with the dog we were surprised to see that the dog would not stop complaining very loudly and when I took him outside he had me use three poop bags and gave me the impression he had been holding for a whole day or so. He peed like he had drank a litter of water all at once Apparently nobody checked on him on the other side of the building where it was more quiet. He complained all the way back to where we were staying like we have never seen before, he made a point and I promised myself not to ever board him anymore anyplace, you never know how well they communicate with each other. She came by about two weeks before our trip, and we agreed to price and services. On the day before we left, she demanded full payment. We offered half up front and half later, she refused, but did agree to hold the check until we returned. Then, she cashed the check immediately against our agreement. When I called her to discuss the matter, she became irate. We had to find emergency help to take care of our pets from a different country. If you wish a worry free vacation, avoid at all costs.

In general, it just feels like a boutique now. It's clean, well thought out, there are fancy, cool items, and a few more affordable things. If that's what you're after, you'll probably enjoy this thrift store. I guess I'm still stuck in the past, when it was truly affordable and had a wider range of items. When it really felt like a thrift store. Now, whenever I go there, I leave with nothing. Prior to surrendering him, I had reached out to them for help as my dog was biting people and I could not find a animal behaviorist in the area that did have a several month to one year waiting list. They gave me the number of the person that they use and I called her several times. She never called me back after multiple attempts to get help for my pet. Sadly I had to surrender him because I could not find a place to live that would accept a dog nor could I find help for his behavior. After I surrendered him, I started working on finding a home for him or a training facility. I was working with the director durning this time but she would never call me back after many many many attempts to reach out to her to try and find a solution for my dog. She told me "come get him today or he is up for adoption" " We are not a boarding facility or a rehab facility." Very Rude considering they are in the animal life saving business. So much for help from your local humane society when you need it. The director acted like I just didn't want my dog and wanted to just get rid of him which is not the case at all. I just needed help. Once I finally did find a home for him the communication at the facility was horrible with constant voicemails left and no return calls nor answering of emails. I had arrange a pet transport for him to another state and they just wouldn't call me back. Finally I got in touch with someone who could help me and finally have been able to get my dog out of there. The overall experience is horrible there is no communication and messages are not relayed in a timely manner. They treat you like you are scum of the earth when you have to surrender your animal even when you are really struggling with the decision.
