This place was one of the highlights of my wedding. I was planning my wedding from out of town and nervous that the cake wouldn't be exactly what I wanted simply because it would get "lost in translation" from the distance. I'm also exceptionally picky yet not exactly a cake expert so I can tell you what I don't like but maybe not exactly what I do. The owner was able to ask me some very pointed questions, send me pictures to say "yes" or "no" for specific elements. She ended up creating exactly what I wanted. Her experience in the industry is evident. More than that, she gave me an amazing price. It was the ONE thing in my wedding that came in under budget. The taste was great (Almond was exactly what I had in mind). The only frustration in the whole process was when I attended the open house. Expect that you will have to wait a while for a consultation and that the queue isn't precisely managed. I was more sensitive to that because I had flown from out of town for it. However, when I spoke up everyone quickly accommodated me. The owner was a pleasure to work with. I even saw her slip out after delivering my cake and she happily smiled and waved with her delivery guy (who I assume is her husband?). I could not have had a better experience! read more

I'll admit. The vegan cake was delicious and I was super excited about my wedding cake that I ordered back in October. Fast forward to late May and I get an email that they will not be able to deliver my cake because the venue is too far for them. 100 days before the wedding. REALLY? I provided the venue address TWICE. Before I scheduled the tasting with them, and again at the tasting when we decided to go with them and started designing our cake. Raquel insisted the location was fine BOTH TIMES. I'm highly disappointed. This is super unprofessional and unacceptable treatment. If you're ordering from here, you won't be disappointed by the cake, but maybe TRIPLE check your venue location since double checking is clearly not enough. The wedding cake shouldn't even be a thought at this point in the planning process, but now I have to backtrack and start from scratch. Sigh. Wish me luck. read more

Custom Cake Design is amazing!!!!! I found them on yelp and saw all of the great reviews do I decided to use them for my best friend's bridal shower cake. I found a picture of a beautiful stiletto sandal on Pinterest, sent the picture and asked if it can be replicated. The owner said yes we can but I didn't realize it would taste just as amazing as it looked!!!! I believe the replica of the cake I found turned out to be greater than I hoped for!!!!! My wife and I selected Custom Cake Design for our wedding recently and they were great! We are able to give insight into the planning, staff, and the food the day of our event. When we were reviewing vendors, we selected Custom Cake Design after scheduling a free tasting with Raquel (the owner). She let us taste an assortment of cake flavors as well as filling. They were awesome, we could make up our minds so we selected 3 types of cakes as well as macaroons for 180 people. Throughout the planning up to our wedding, we were able to give pictures and describe what we wanted as well as coordinate with the florists for flowers for the cake. Raquel was very polite and professional throughout the year we met with her. The day of our wedding, the cake was beautiful and bigger than we expected. The only drawback we would have is that the staff answering the phone gave us issues but Raquel's service makes up for it. read more

2 stars for the design. I ordered a cake for my daughter's baptismal. No doubt the design was impressive, but the taste of the cake itself? It tasted like a dry, plain pound cake, no frosting , no layers, just a block of white cake. If layer frosting was an additional charge, i really hoped that it was discussed or suggested due to the thickness of the cake. Without a doubt i would gladly pay for extra. I spent $140 for a mid size sheet of cake, only 2 slices were eaten, I was planning to use the leftovers into pop cakes, but time didnt permit me. The rest of the barely touched cake was thrown to trash. Waste of money. The guests preferred the other cake. I am looking for a first bday cake this time, not coming back here. Sorry. read more

When we went into her shop to talk with her initially, she actually had a sample of the cake we would be purchasing for us to taste. CCD recently made a smash cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. It was beautiful. Exactly the cute owl design we were looking for based on our discussion with CCD. We selected Chocolate Raspberry for the smash cake and matching strawberry cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. The cake and cupcakes were phenomenal. Even our photographer was very impressed with the moist and delicious cake. Typically beautiful wedding / photo cakes are horrible tasting but this blew away my expectations. Absolutely delectable! What a find! This is great little bakery. The case is so full of goodies that I wanted to take more home than I could handle. My girlfriend and I had breakfast in Renata's and she said that the quiche was the best she have ever tasted. It is a small place but big on flavor. I orderd a Baby Shower Cake for my sister's baby shower. AlI correspondences with Raquel were done via telephone and email since I live in New York and the shower was taking place in Maryland. I explained to Raquel what flavor cake I wanted as well as the filling and design of the cake and what I asked for is exactly what I received when I picked up the cake. The cake was beautifully decorated as well. Raquel even allowed my sister to come in for a cake tasting prior to ordering the cake. Needless to say, the cake was so moist and the raspberry filling.....yum! Everyone at the shower enjoyed the cake and my sister and I could not stop eating the cake.
