I stopped by this morning to buy Hamantaschen cookies, which are the traditional cookie eaten on the Jewish Purim holiday. Apparently Purim Hamantaschen is a big business for Sunflower. They take advance orders in addition to selling over the counter. I was pleased to see that they opened this storefront location at 8 am today due to the holiday demand. A special aspect of Sunflower is that they employ and train disabled people. So buying a cookie is not only a transaction and a tasty treat; it's an educational and vocational experience. This might mean you wait a bit longer and must exercise patience. But clearly worth it. I've had Sunflower's challah bread and Hamantaschen before. These Hamantaschen were definitely good. I won't say they are the best I've ever tasted, but they were darn good! They have a bunch of baked items, so it's fun to return and try the many offerings. I will definitely return! read more

The Sunflower Bakery is a breath of fresh air that we all should experience! The shop is updated quaint, bright and warm. The young people that greeted my wife and I were warm and engaging and passionate about the delicious baked goods! We had the Challah bread, oatmeal raisin cookies, brownies, lemon drop muffin and awesome chocolate drizzled cookies. Nothing disappointing! All scrumptious guilty pleasures! Mr. Ben, Miss Jessica, Chef Cheryl and the attending Super were absolutely fabulous with their service and fabulous personalities. We'll be back! read more

Sunflower Bakery work with individuals with learning disabilities and helps them get accredited in pastry arts, and find careers. Their mission is so needed in this world, and as a bonus, they make amazing desserts! They have a vegan tab on their website so it is very clear what desserts have no dairy and eggs. While I don't celebrate Purim, when these delicious treats are generally devoured, I do support this bakery that employs young adults with learning differences. Giving these individuals the training they need for a career in food services is paramount. I ordered a dozen chocolate filled hamantaschen. During this particular holiday season you can pick them up from the bakery, or pick them up from various drop off locations. I was sold when I discovered one of the drop offs was a mile from my home. These cookies are delicious. They're very buttery, and they were larger than I expected. I paid $14 for a dozen. They are cheaper, albeit smaller than Parkway Deli's version, but quite a good deal. They are kosher, and they do make a GF version that my neighbor buys for her daughter. When spring eventually springs, I plan to make a visit to their storefront location. It's a win-win indulgence in my book. read more

Thankyou so much to Sunflower Bakery for a fabulous Rosh Hashana dinner. The brisket was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. Delicious apricot chicken, sweet potatoes and zucchini. Everything was cooked to perfection including the kale and apple salad. We also got challah which, as usual, was fresh and delicious; apple cake and honey cake and brownies. All was very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend! Also, everything was delivered timely with clear reheating instructions. read more

This is one of our go to bakeries for cupcakes and sweet treats. They make the perfect sized cupcakes that are easy to eat and share. It is hard to stop at just one, so we always buy a few extra. We generally get these flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Red Velvet. We are also fans of the Lemon Bars and Brownies as well The staff is very friendly and always ready to help and give suggestions to make up our mind! read more

I guess I'm in the minority here because I didn't enjoy the baked goods at Sunflower Bakery at all. The cupcakes had too much frosting for my liking and I found it to be rather waxy. Out of the cupcakes I tried, the vanilla with chocolate frosting was the best, but still jusy okay. The cookies were surprisingly not a hit at all in my household. They were super tiny and on the dry side. I do like the story behind Sunflower Bakery and applaud them for it. I'm hoping it was an off day in the shop, so will try them again in the future. read more

I stopped into Sunflower Bakery this afternoon and I'm glad I did! First of all if you don't know their story and background do yourself a favor and read up- it's such a cool place. *plus, did you know they are Kosher?!* I was greeted the minute I walked through the door. You have to be buzzed into the actual building but no biggy. Michael helped me pick out some cookies and a lemon bar. The pricing was on point (bars are $2 and cookies are $1.75) , I wish I would've bought more but maybe next time. Overall everything I got tasted great. My snickerdoodle cookie was straight up the best one I've had in a long time! The lemon bar was sticky, sweet, tangy and all kinds of yummy. I haven't broken into the remaining chocolate chip cookie but it looks and smells delicious. I'll definitely be back soon and highly recommend checking this bakery out. I love everything about Sunflower, especially the people that work there. I'm always greeted with a smile.Their Challahs are delicious as well as all their sweets. I often go in and have a latte or dirty chai latte. Perfectly brewed. I went to their graduation ceremony a few weeks ago. Absolutely spectacular. The place is spotless. I needed a cake for my mother's birthday and she was in the mood for a cake with almond flavor in it. Luckily, i found Sunflower bakery and their almond pound cake. I placed an order two days in advance but had to change pick up times and they were very accommodating. The pound cake itself was delicious. My only critique is that the berry buttercream was a little sweeter than expected, but I'm sure that can be tweaked if requested. The macaroons were as cute as a button and memorable. read more

We needed to find a kosher chocolate chocolate cake for our daughter's birthday. So we got a birthday cake from them and it was delicious and reasonably priced. We needed to pick up early, and they were able to accommodate us very easily. Pick up was very pleasant, as the woman who helped me was extremely friendly and nice. All the kids at our daughter's birthday party loved the cake, as did we. The icing was really good, unlike typical grocery store cakes it actually tasted like chocolate. Really delicious! read more
