Sadly, the owner of Nick's passed away and this company is now owned by Dunrite. I called that company based on the reviews of Nick's Air Services, but their services has definitely NOT been the same as mentioned on this profile. In summary, this company is expensive, can make improper recommendations, and the office is very difficult to get anyone to call you back. I absolutely would not use them again in the future and - had I read their Yelp profile for Dunrite Heating & Cooling - would never have called them in the first place. My experience: My air conditioning due to leaked refrigerant due to another HVAC technician not correct. Nick's/Dunrite came out during the same day and quickly identified the problem. There was a leak on the schrader valve. They got us back to running - for nearly $200/per pound of refrigerant. 5 lbs = about $1,000. Wow, but we had no choice as my original installer was not available. Our unit has not been keeping up with the 90s for the past two months and the technician recommended 3 different options. I chose 2 of the 3 options: a larger return air duct AND repairing the plenum. I was anxious to get the work scheduled and it took me hounding them to get them to schedule the work. Communicating with this office was very painful. I would never get calls back and would just get a text message indicating when they had scheduled the appointment. Their front desk support was exceedingly helpful but not empowered to do anything besides schedule appointments and pass along info. I finally had the appointment and the technician went to the wrong address. I got a call from them saying they had been at my house and then they proceeded to the next job. I spoke to them and learned they were at the wrong house, but could not turn around to go back to my house. I had to wait until the following week to get the appointment rescheduled. What a disaster. It got worse. The work was finally done - the return air duct and the plenum. I waited a couple of days, but there was NO change in the air conditioning. I called them back again and they scheduled another technician to come out. The second technician came out, a more senior technician, who confirmed that the unit was undersized and "working as it was designed" to cool at 75-76. I don't know a single person who is comfortable with 75-76 in the house when the outside is in the 90s. I called customer service again. When I finally got someone, I got a call from William, who is their most senior technician (an older guys in his late-50s probably). He came out with the original technical and instructed him how to properly do a heat load calculation. They determined indeed the unit is undersized and I needed a 3 ton. I called back the customer service asking for a refund to the work. I've called at least 3-4 times, each time speaking with a very nice person. However, I've still not been called back. What a disaster. I've finally had to resort to filing a complaint with my credit card and disputing it through them. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to have to do this, but - when no one will call you back - it's very very hard to trust this company to make things right.

So the problem I wanted to get addressed was that the exhaust pipe from my attic furnace was collecting condensation and causing a leak. 1. Initial Visit: A technician came out to diagnose the issue. He said that the pipe had to be replaced due to rust and the cap had to be added to the roof end of the pipe because it was completely missing. He charged me $3000 for replacing two sets of pipes. I thought it was expensive but went through with the transaction because of the high reviews on yelp. 2. Failed Service: On the scheduled date, technicians arrived but refused to replace the pipe because my roof was "too steep." I was told they would reschedule with a crew equipped and willing to work on steep roofs. 3. No Follow-Up: The company never rescheduled this service. I tried calling them multiple times but the only response I got was that they would call me back. (the customer service rep was kind and responsive) Do not use this company if you want reliable service or basic communication.

We all know the sinking feeling that comes with having to get your home A/C repaired. Will it be…read morerepaired correctly and completely the first time?, how expensive will this repair be?, how long will I have to wait in discomfort before it's repaired?, are they going to be true professionals or hacks like most of us experienced at some point. I contacted KMI as a referral from a friend. First point of contact, great! Courteous and friendly and took the time to understand exactly what my expectations were. Scheduled for following afternoon. The next morning I received a call to ask if that could come earlier. Who wouldn't appreciate that? Technician arrived minutes later. He spent a few minutes discussing the history of problems I've had and he set off to start investigating. Side note: for twelve years I've had the same not cooling problem and each time different A/C companies me I have a very small leak and they can't find it. So they recharge the system with refrigerant that costs several hundred dollars to a thousand dollars just to fill it from half empty. My home warranty, not covered... no defect found in a covered component, no coverage. The KMI technician understood that nobody has found the leak since I built this home but he wanted a crack at it anyway. No exaggeration, he found it in less than 3 minutes. Even showed me precisely where it was leaking from. Estimate to repair? $3,000-$4,500! It is what it is I suppose... But wait! The technician took note of the date of manufacture, got on the phone with them and now I have the defective part covered by the manufacturer. He didn't have to do this and certainly would have made more if I came out of pocket for it, but this is what KMI is all about. Looking out for their customers. I'm dropping my useless home warranty and if I ever need A/C repair again I'll just call KMI and know with confidence that they have my best interest in mind and they will fix it right the first time!

My son found a company on Yelp with a good number of 5-star ratings that came out and provided estimates. We spoke to each one of them and they upsold their services, some of which were not needed. I was about to give up but I decided to call Elevated Mechanical and Cole answered. While talking with him, I felt that he was an honest business person; he also sent me a copy of his insurance and license number. His company offered plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services. Cole saw photos of the old water heater and gave me a fair quote. The next day, he replaced the water heater and sent us photos after he was done. He also called us to follow up. The electrical and HVAC team did the same thing. All of them did a great job and they were insured and made sure everything was up to code. Cole came back to help with another plumbing issue, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was working properly. If you are getting quotes, I would recommend Elevated Mechanical. They may not be the cheapest, however, you get what you pay for. Their prices were fair, and most importantly they did amazing jobs!

I came home Friday Afternoon (10APR26) to find a puddle forming in my garage. My water heater of…read moreover 16 years had finally given out. To Rescue Air's credit, they had been warning us each time they came out for HVAC Filter rotations. Thankfully, Rescue Air's ace plumbing expert Mr. Phillip Blystone was dispatched to my home to assess the situation. Within minutes he identified the issue and immediately started to work out a plan and arrangement my family could manage to cover the expense of the Water Heater replacement: the source of the leaking problem. Rescue Air has a very long history of working with my family since we've been in this home (2016), so that level of service is a given these days. But that's not the complete reason for the 5-Star rating. The next day, now with a working heater, my wife and I discovered that a leak was still present in the Garage. Upon calling Rescue Air to let them know what was going on, Mr. Blystone responded swiftly to our location to triage the leak. Using both his advanced equipment and intuition, he found that in spite of the solid repair and replace he and his team performed of the water heater, a leak was sadly missed during the initial assessment. Most other business would likely have tacked on a "not-our-problem" sort of response to this. However, Mr. Blystone and by extension Rescue Air are not your normal type of company. With careful consideration of the economic circumstance of the recent repair & purchase, balancing years of customer loyalty and being a genuinely saint, Mr. Blystone proceeded to isolate and resolve the leak (a small puncture hole in the T-pipe hot-water line leading from the heater) pro-gratis. Completely unexpected, but definitely much appreciated! It goes without saying it would be extremely foolish for my family to consider doing business with anyone else in the Dallas Metro given Rescue Air's track record with our family. The value lost would be far too great. While I hope to not need their services as often as recently, I definitely look forward to working with them and Mr. Blystone should the need arise again.

Be very, very careful with this company…read more They came in to give an estimate for one repair, but that turned into a big, scary report of all the issues, pointing strongly at a completely new system. Ok. They had photos. Their explainations sounded reasonable, especially when coupled with the photos they quickly flashed through on their tiny phone. So, I told them that we would likely move forward, but I require two things - a copy of all of those photos, and two estimates, one for what they wanted to sell me, and a separate itemized repair list. I got two estimates - one for the original they were pushing, and another for something MORE expensive. No itemized list of repairs. No photos. When I reached out in email, they wanted a phone call. There is almost always a good reason for not wanting to leave a record via email. But, $15,000-ish for a new 5 ton unit, with no new duct work... yeah, you'd better *really* back that up. They could not (would not?) I now have to suspect that thier photos were doctored in some way, maybe even not all of my unit. Who knows? Who looks inside, like that? And, I suspect their reason for not sending me copies of those were dubious. They also pressured the sale claiming that "prices go up next week for Summer." Sha. Ok. This was in March. Good luck with these tactics. Not for me. If you want to give them enough rope to hang themselves to find out for yourself, just act ignorant and as excited for a new unit as they suddenly are to sell you on it. You'll see. It'll cost you $120 for the scammy diagnosis, though.

Okay I had several issues that more than one company refused to fix because mine was air duct…read morerelated and HVAC related and it was very time-consuming and I was told my attic was abnormally small so it was inconvenient to get the air duct fixed and they just didn't feel comfortable doing the work. Chris was called out to give an assessment and came up with the game plan and had his guys out here in two days . Now let me tell you I've had the worst time with my unit and my air ducts not blowing cold air somewhere blowing too cold and Eric and Eric came out.. Eric is the lead tech and tell you his professionalism is unmatched his knowledge and his field is commendable. He knows his stuff and he's damn good at it.. The job took less than eight hours for everything to be fixed same day. My house is fixed and I'm so grateful because this summer would have been miserable. I'm so blessed.!! However, when I contacted Freedom First to take a look at the issue, Trevor informed me that it was not the coil, but rather a faulty expansion valve. In addition to saving me a significant amount of money with his find, he also explained everything to me very thoroughly and was very professional and personable the entire time. Even after the job was finished, he came back the next week to make sure my unit was still running good after the fix, free of charge.
