Finally! A great mattress and a great company! Shopping for a new mattress in recent years has been a lot like looking for a used car. Terrible experience. My husband and I have tried twice over the last 15 years to buy a new mattress: We spent the suggested 20+ minutes testing them out in stores; bought expensive mattresses by the best manufacturers; and still didn't get one we liked. They were hot, they sagged, and we woke up throughout the night. And the companies were not pleasant to deal with. But recently I was fortunate to spend a few nights in a hotel in Pasadena, CA that happened to have a Custom Comfort mattress on the bed in my room. I had never heard of that mattress, but after 3 nights there, I woke up without back pain - the first time in years! And I had slept really well. So I looked into it and contacted the Custom Comfort store in Pasadena - even though I live in Houston. To make a long story short, my husband and I went ahead and bought exactly the same mattress that was in my hotel room (the Renew 200). The store found it easily in their computer and I subsequently confirmed everything with the hotel buyer. The mattress was shipped to us in Houston and it has been wonderful. My husband - who didn't think there was a problem with our old mattress (and was just going along with this because of my difficulties in sleeping) - woke up after the first night on the new mattress and when I asked him how he liked it - he said, "I love it!" That is not his normal style of speaking and I think he was surprised and even amazed. Ever since then, he has slept more soundly than he has in years. So what makes this mattress so nice? I actually think it is the use of traditional techniques - where the mattress has two sides. They do have to be turned, but consequently they breathe much more than the very thick mattresses that are only one sided and don't have to be turned. Also the construction from Custom Comfort seems superior and their mattresses use all cotton batting. As a result, this mattress doesn't sag and seems cooler than many of today's mattresses that have gone to so much foam and are one-sided. I also have to say that the salesman in the Pasadena store, Justin Fisher, was excellent. He must have spoken with me for more than an hour the first time on the phone. No pressure - and if he didn't know something, he went to ask and found out. Several times, he called me back with more information or emailed me. I really appreciated the fact that he made the effort to get correct information and didn't just make up an easy response - as seems to happen a lot these days elsewhere. In addition, Custom Comfort will make foundations (the old box springs) to any height that one requires. We were very specific in the size we needed to go with our low and sleek furniture. However, when the mattress and foundations arrived, the foundations were 1/2 inch thicker than specified. The company then - made good on their original commitment - and shipped us new foundations, made to our very precise and new specifications - and at no additional cost to us. It is a pleasure to find a family-owned company that provides this sort of quality and service. And at long last, we have a mattress that gives a good night's sleep. read more

I do not normally do reviews, but it is my hope that anyone requiring a truly high value well crafted mattress will shop at this store. My wife and I purchased an eastern king "retreat 100" firm mattress last November from Justin Fisher in the Pasadena location and were extremely impressed with the relaxed un-pressured and informative nature of the sale, and even more so with the mattress itself. It is superior to the last two name brand mattresses we have owned in every respect. Also the delivery and service from this company is impeccable. the superior workmanship that went into manufacturing the mattress is immediately evident and enduring. We personally consider a purchase of this nature paramount in importance for quality sleep, and comfortable posture. We have reached a part of our lives where we realize that a great mattress is an investment. We went to Custom Comfort Mattress in Pasadena, and the entire experience was great. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and courteous, but zero pressure. They brought out pillows to our liking (soft for me and firm for my husband) and put on pillow cases in front of us. Gave us lots of time and space and encouraged us to take our time. REally well made mattresses (no foam, so a lot less likely to get uncomfortable). Moving forward we discussed my own king size mattress and he explored alternate options with me for a future purchase. I was so impressed by how attentive he was and how well he understood my needs that I decided that we will be purchasing our guest room queen mattress set from Custom Comfort Mattress. The quality is excellent, the prices are unbeatable and the caliber of customer care is unlike any other retail experience I have had. This review is to highlight the exceptional service provided by Mauricio who went above and beyond in helping us to complete our order. We had ordered some extras with our mattress (i.e. sheets, mattress cover) that were out of stock at the time of delivery. We had been pre-warned that these items might be backordered, so we weren't too surprised, but we were hoping that they would be available in time to set up our mattress when it arrived. To make sure that we had everything that we needed, Mauricio drove to another CCM location before his shift to pick up one of the items and then met us at the Pasadena location, where the other item was located. I was shopping for a new mattress and visited a few mattress stores. One tried to steer me toward their really expensive mattresses ( $8K and way out of my price range) and another barely paid me any attention. Then I walked into Custom Comfort in Pasadena and what a difference! You are immediately greeted by Daleth who is one nice guy and very knowledgable and low key. He took me straight to the mattress I asked about and nothing like the experience I had at the other stores. He was nice enough to take my purchase order down and waited for me to call back with my card info as I was doing this on my lunch hour. And their delivery guys are the best- Juan and Alberto. I was very impressed with how they were able to get a fully assembled day bed into the elevator in my building in one piece without having to take it apart. Until they got to my front door, then it had to get taken apart to go in. But those guys are good. I was also impressed that Daleth even responds to emails on his day off. And I was only asking if they stock the pillows in the store as I wanted to get another one. Now that is what you call awesome customer service ! Overall, Custom Comfort knows and understands customer service. And the mattress? I settled on the Refresh 4.0 and that is one comfy mattress. Rather difficult to get out of bed as it's that comfy !! The Refresh 1.0 on the daybed is just as comfy too so I would say the Refresh line is a very comfortable line. I want to give a big shout out to Angelique. We had a problem with a mattress we bought. We went to the Pasadena store and discussed it with her. Within minutes she solved the problem and gave us a brand new mattress and had it delivered within a few days. I am not used to such wonderful customer service. She also followed the process through to conclusion--even calling me on Sunday night to remind me it would be delivered the next day between 12 and 2. It actually arrived at 11:30. I don't usually write reviews but decided that I had to for this place. I wasn't even looking for a new mattress but was just walking by with one of my girlfriends after having lunch and saw the pretty showroom through the windows and we went in. I'm glad we did, now I know where to go for a mattress. There's no pressure, they were just really educated us on what to look for when we're ready to look for a mattress. And even if you're not looking for a mattress just go in and hopefully you'll get to meet Chris. He is so easy to talk to and extremely good looking. Very friendly service. We got a 100% latex mattress for more than I thought we would spend, but after checking the competition we were very happy with the price and value. Other stores best the price, but their mattresses were not 100% latex (not even close), were one sided, and did not look like they would last nearly as long. I took delivery of a new bed frame and my cal king and eastern king sets did not fit! Melchor and Chris came out immediately, measured the frame called and sent email information to the vendor stating that this made to order piece doesn't work with industry standard mattresses and are helping me sort this problem out. I was sad to learn Justin was moving on, this is my third Mattress from CCM in 4 years (all different rooms and homes) , and he is spot on. I used to have back pains and was always in search on the perfect rest. I decided to visit the showroom , actually the factory in Orange County and saw first hand how a real bed is made, and should be made. CCM puts out an amazing product, and yes, you pay a bit more, but it will last years beyond any other thing on the market. It is true that its an exceptional company that has the "best in class product." EVER. And Justin is correct, the others are a bunch of crap. Very pleasant shopping experience at the Pasadena Custom Comfort store to purchase an additional boxspring. Justin is very helpful and pleasant to work with. We were able to get delivery the next day in the time frame that Justin promised. My wife and I have been sleeping on Custom Comfort mattresses we had purchased several years ago at the Fullerton location (Pasadena had not opened yet unfortunately for us) and we have been very happy with the beds. I recently got my new adjustable mattress at Custom Comfort. I chose them over other mattress companies because of recommendation of friends and of their great reputation. Justin was most helpful and worked with me to allow for my old bed to be picked up a couple of weeks before my new bed would be delivered so that my painters would not have to work around the bed in my bedroom. After my bedroom was newly painted and carpeted, I called to arrange a specific date I wanted it delivered, and they did just that and were prompt. No waiting all day for delivery. I am now enjoying the luxury of my adjustable bed which is great when reading in bed and also helpful for my acid reflex problem. My cats have also adjusted to the motor and movement of the bed. I came to Custom comfort several times. I've been researching mattresses for quite sometime as it is about time to replace my 19 year old mattress. I was looking for high quality mattress at reasonable price. The first 2 visits at Custom Comfort was more educational and trying out their mattresses. I 've noticed right away that there was no sales pressure and the presentation was comprehensive.On Sept 15, 2015, me and my partner went back and determined to purchase one if the price is right and if both of us can agree to the level of comfortability of the mattress. Here comes Chris Brady, whom I met few days before who spent time with me when I was then browsing and trying different type of mattresses. He was very patient and again went through the same process of explaining the different type of mattresses to my partner. To make the story short, I purchased the latex mattress and the Reverie 5D adjustible foundation and Chris provided a reasonable discount. The experience was GREAT from purchase to delivery. Great, comfy mattresses, cool inviting showroom, and best of all: no pressure from the staff! Chris explained how the mattresses are made and showed what goes into them, showed us a few models and explained the differences, then put new pillowcases on pillows, handed them to us and let us roam the store to try out various mattresses on our own! He answered all questions with honest feedback (not trying to sell us on pricier models). We got a very reasonable quote and said we'd be back the next day. When we did return the next day he admitted he was a bit surprised, thought we were just feeding him the usual line. But honestly, the quality and price of the mattresses were better than other big name stores we visited, and his low-key but helpful customer service also played a big role in our purchase. After making our pick, paying and waiting outside for them to bring the mattresses to my truck (I was taking home directly, and he knocked a good amount off the price since there would be no delivery), Chris came out and told me they didn't have both mattresses in stock after all - one was mislabeled. He apologized and worked with me to see what was possible, whether I needed the other mattress asap. Ultimately he upgraded it to the next model up - which was in stock - for no extra charge. I have purchased three mattresses at the Pasadena store since it opened on Lake Ave. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. There is no pressure and they do everything they can to have you make an informed decision when purchasing a mattress. My wife and I visited several reputable competitors stores only to return to Custom Comfort before our first purchase. We purchased a Latex CA King several years ago and love the bed and the qualities of the latex material. After several months, I felt it was a little too soft and I called the company to see if there was anything they would suggest. They picked the mattress up in the morning and had it delivered back to my house the same afternoon. By adding a layer to the bed, it is now perfect.
