So an alternator costs $378 from this shop, and others in the area. Id be less disappointed if it felt like is been given an option to get an alternator elsewhere, but this shop is more than happy to take you for your money. I had a great experience here. I was traveling through town and my engine was acting weird, my temp gauge was higher than what it should be. I stopped in without an appointment and they got my car in with a mechanic within 15 min. It came to be a minor problem with a hose just needing to be reattached and it took less than 20 min to find and fix. I definitely expected to pay, but they told me don't worry about it. Zero Star! Dishonest! I got my Toyota Camry repaired for the front wheel bearing assembly for the driver and passenger sides at the Custom Complete Automotive at 606 E Nifong, Columbia, MO. Later, I found only wheel bearings on both sides were replaced instead of the front wheel bearing assemblies (wheel bearing hub and bearing) were replaced according to the repair invoice. The repair shop charged me the replacement parts (front wheel bearing, part number: 510063) for $147/each and total $294. The fair market price for an expensive bearing of its kind is about $30/each. In sum, the repair shop overcharged me $234 +tax on the parts or didn't perform the repair service they are supposed to do for the payment ($683.71 +tax) I made. read more

I had some work done on my Jeep Patriot there today and I've had work done in the past at the custom complete store on Worley Street Columbia Missouri. They did excellent work they found the problem and corrected it. The manager there whose first name is Lee explained everything to me that needs to be done. Are mechanics in the back got to work done and Lee make sure that it was all done correctly before calling me to pick it up. I would like to thank Lee and his mechanics at custom complete automotive on Worley Street. They did an excellent job on fixing my vehicle. Lee went out of his way to make sure I got to my appointments at truman VA. thank you so much for all the hard work you and your mechanics do. Like any mechanic shop sometimes you get bad reviews but this is a good review everything was completed that was found wrong and fixed. I have issue with a couple locations of Custom Complete Automotive. The first one is the one on Worley. I had taken my car in to have them hopfully resolve an ongoing issue. They were unsure of the problem, but thought this one repair "might" fix it. During all that they find another problem and explain the problem, which was not what I went in for, then show me the cost bill. At that time it was more that I had expected and more than I could pay, so I told them to just fix what I had originally come in for. The person got pissy because the tech had already started working on the new problem they had found. Once they were done and I took the car, a week later the problem happened again. Oh, joy. I sat there for several hours that day and every customer that came and went paid $500+, even for a simple inspection where they "found" problems. The other location I have a problem with is the Nifong location. Here is how it went. I went in for an oil change, since the previous business I tried was having computer issues. It was getting late morning and I needed it done before noon. I asked for an oil change, and the guy behind the counter give a look and says there are four people ahead of me, so I say nope and says he can call another location and try and get me in (see above for why I don't like that idea either) I turn to head toward the door and I hear: "Well I guess not then." In a very sarcastic tone. I said "F&%K you" (which was supposed be under my breath, but,,,) and kept walking. I get to my car and this guy comes out the door, and yells accross the parking lot, that "Sir, don't come back here, we don't need your business with that kind of attitude." I said "Fine I won't be coming back, anyway." He said, "We don't want your business" I said, "OK." Then as I am opening my car door, he yelled one more time," See you later Jenny Craig drop out!" It was like he was prodding me with a stick to get a reaction. I'm pretty sure there were at least two customers inside the store. Is that how they do business? Is that how they deal with unruly customers, by shouting insults back? hmmm Either way I wil not be going back to ANY of this business' locations. I don't care if my car was on fire and they were the only ones giving away free extinguishers, and were two feet away. read more

The absolute worst place in Columbia to take your vechicle. We took our car in for a state inspection, and several months later found that paper items in the glove compartment were being sucked into the air conditioning fan. On closer inspection, we found that they had never placed the air filter and housing back into our vehicle! This is the only location we have our vehicle serviced, so it's the only place where the part would have been removed. The service writer claimed they had no responsibility in having misplaced my air filter and housing. Terrible service; They don't take responsibility for their mistakes! read more

Very bad. Would give 0 stars if possible. Friend went to get AC looked at and they tried to tell him his ball joints were bad and $1,500 to fix. He gets second opinion at dealership and NOTHING WRONG. I had a similar "ball joints" are bad claim at an inspection that turned out to be false. I would avoid this place. read more

Do not use them, please. I have a newer car. Today, I needed to get my car inspected. I read all of the reviews I could find online (they were not good), and thought, oh, well, they are close to where I live, my car is new, there is no way they can find anything wrong to not pass my car for the inspection. Boy, was I wrong. They came back and told me I had a bar on my right side that was "broken" so it would not pass inspection. And that I also needed an alignment, new tires, and all my fluids flushed. (I had just gotten all new tires 14 months ago.) I paid and left and took it to G & J (which I would highly recommend, I have used them for years, they are a smaller operation off of Vandiver. Very honest, very fast, willing to work with you.). When I got into my car I noticed that the receipt Custom gave me, the failed inspection, said the bar was "loose", not "broken". When I got to G & J, I explained the situation. They looked at the bar and it was not broken at all. They even showed me when they had it raised up. read more

My complete experience: I went into Custom Complete on Nifong after calling ahead to get pricing on replacing brakes and rotors, and I got an ambiguous answer of between $100 and $250. I downloaded a coupon for "brakes" of their website, he said it did not apply to my case, so i could not use it. Shortly after I dropped my car off at their shop, they called my wife and said it was much worse than they thought and it would cost $786 dollars and 50 cents. I about flipped out of my chair! she told them we could call back. I looked up pricing on parts for my vehicle's brake assembly, and it did not add up, even after labor, especially for the issue i had with my car. then they called back 30 minutes later and said they would do it for around $500 dollars and said they needed to replace a hose and refill my brake system with hydraulic (brake) fluid. Then and there I realized his game, He was trying to tack anything and everything he could on my bill because he thought he could take advantage of me. I rebuilt the entire brake system on my first car (a '98 Ford Taurus, ugly thing!) and I know what leaky brakes feel like. LONG story short, I repaired my car (including a caliper assembly that had a seized bolt that was causing my issue) for $87 dollars and about an hour and a half of labour. To me, it seems that they probably have a lot of experience ripping people off, and I would avoid this place, unless you don't mind paying a 1000% markup. Went in for a rattling exhaust that i had assumed was just the heat shield around the catalytic converter. Turns out the whole catalytic converter was bad. Took it to complete custom and only paid $211 after the student discount. Employees were straight forward, service was very quick and at a more than reasonable price. YOU BE THE JUDGE On or about 10-25-16, I took my vehicle, a 2004 Lincoln Town Car, to Custom Muffler, Columbia,MO. I stated I would like a MO State Inspection, asked them to diagnose the "air suspension" light that was on the driver display and that the power steering was "stiff" when the steering wheel was turned. The following transpired: I received a call from Steve Casey (Customer Service Rep) saying I needed a new rack and pinion, cost $955.00 (approx). I authorized the work. 2 days later (approx) I received a Call from Steve Casey saying after installation of the Rack and Pinion, that was not the problem. The problem may be that the power steering fluid needs flushing, if that doesn't do it then I need a new power steering pump. 1 day later (approx) I received a call from Steve Casey saying, after installing the rack and pinion, flushing fluid and installing a new power steering pump, that did not fix it. 1 day later (approx) I received a call from Steve Casey saying, the problem was the steering rod(s) knuckle joints inside the steering wheel. That did not fix it. They replaced my original ones. 2 days later (approx) I received a call from Steve Casey saying, that the problem is an air suspension  module and all he can find is a used unit that may arrive on Monday 10-31-16. On Friday I called for a vehicle status update and was told the vehicle would be ready that afternoon 11-3-16. I arrived, paid the Invoice, started my vehicle and the "air suspension" light was still on the display. I notified Steve Casey, he came outside and verified that the light was still on and told me to drive it around a little bit. I drove it home, the light was on the display when I put it in reverse and when I put it in park, just exactly like it was when I took it in. I called Mr. Casey and he told me to bring it in and they would diagnose the problem but it would probably be another $300 to have it repaired. I have a hard copy of the Invoice which states: Rack and Pinion-remove and replace $837.00. There was nothing wrong with the original equipment on my vehicle but they replaced it anyway, by their admission. Power Steering Flush and clear- $99.95. They replaced the power steering pump when there was nothing wrong with the original equipment by their admission. Computerized 4-Wheel Alignment- $69.95. There was nothing wrong with the Rack and Pinion nor the Alignment when I took it in by their admission. The next morning I tried to start my vehicle. The battery was completely dead. I charged the battery and drove it for a while. I shut the vehicle off and within an hour the battery had completely drained. The electric gas cap cover no longer works nor the gas gauge. They have somehow created an electrical short within the system, which if installed, the "used" module is probably defective. There is no indication of a price for the used " module" nor labor to install it. There is nothing on the Invoice pertaining to the "module" nor Labor to install it. A used "module" for the air suspension may have been $50.00 at their cost or $100 with mark up. The labor to plug it in may have been $50.00. So my estimation is, the Invoice should have been $150 instead of $964.65. My suspicion is nothing was installed. I have voice recordings confirming all of this. I am a Senior Citizen. So, you be the Judge. If you are planning on taking your vehicle to Custom Complete Automotive, may I offer you my sincere condolences. It is illegal and unethical to charge for items not necessary to the repair of a vehicle. I am seeking Legal Counsel so the vehicle is sitting in a complete state of disrepair until professional advice can be obtained. Thank you for reading this. read more

I recently visited Custom Complete Automotive on Nifong for a vehicle inspection. . The lobby was full of other customers and I was worried that I would have to wait hours to get this inspection completed but to my surprise they got it right and in less than 30 minutes I was out the door. The customer service was really great. The front desk staff was very friendly, every customer that walked through the door while I was there was greeted and treated really nice. I also would give this place zero stars if I could. My brakes went on a Friday afternoon and I had the car towed to them. I was told the master cylinder had gone as well as rotors/pads. They quoted me 650 to fix all of this and later told me they couldn't get a cylinder until the following week. I was suspicious at the start since I'd had the car thoroughly looked over in a different state two months ago with a very loyal mechanic. I chose to pay for a tow to Plaza Tire on Broadway to have it looked at by them. Unfortunately, Custom Complete had already changed the pads/rotors so I had to pay them for that service. When Plaza Tire looked at it, there was nothing wrong with the master cylinder at all!! Saved myself 400 dollars by taking it elsewhere. read more

Do NOT take your car here if you want professional service or decent human respect. I took my car to get inspected on Monday afternoon at the Nifong location and the inspection was passed, but I was told that $350 of work needed to be done to my spark plugs and my fuel induction. I denied having this done because they told me it wasn't necessary, but the next time I turned the car on the check engine light was on. I checked the gas cap and gave it a couple of days to see if it would turn off. I went back this afternoon (three days later) and explained that the check engine light had never come on before, that I checked the gas cap first, that I was wondering if it could have anything to do with the recent inspection and if they could take a look at it - maybe a spark plug was loose, maybe it had something to do with the fuel/gas cap. I was told that the suggestions to have my spark plugs replaced and the fuel induction service done were due to the mileage on my car and had nothing to do with the inspection and that they would not just look at it. I pushed them on this asking why, telling them I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and the man behind the counter took an extremely condescending and disrespectful tone with me. To best explain his actions, the man "mansplained" to me why a check engine light would be on (because something is wrong with the engine that triggered a sensor to turn on a light on my dashboard, with hand motions clearly showing me the step by step process). I told him I understood and he didn't need to explain that, and he told me that I needed to leave and picked up the phone to continue on with different business. In my opinion it is fishy that they would not being willing to just take a look at the car to tell me if something was actually wrong, shooing me out of the store disrespectfully and reacting defensively when I pushed them on it. I can't help but think since I am a young woman they were hoping to squeeze me for money without me questioning it, especially after the way I was spoken to about why the light would be on. After this bizarre and horrible interaction I will never return to any Custom Complete Automotive and will urge everyone I know to find a garage that doesn't employ sexist, rude or condescending people. read more
