We live in a Victorian and had 6 windows replaced all on the second story. They sent one person to replace all the windows he worked from 8A until 7P.He did the best he could but caulking left a lot to be desired. Very disappointed in XOTEK that they didn't know more people were needed to work this project. Also most people who have written reviews say they have wonderful customer service...they never checked on the worker and never checked with us after the installation that is the least they could do. read more

Did a great job installing my new windows and screens, including an oddly sized screen door. Showed up early and got the work done quickly, set out tarps so they weren't dirtying up my floor, and checked in with me to make sure everything was all right. When I pointed out a bit of caulk that had gotten onto a window, they fixed it immediately with no complaints. We are beyond pleased with our new windows from XOTech. They were recommended to us by a relative in Castro Valley and did not disappoint in the least. Tony came out for a consultation and not only gave us a quote but also educated us on how different window brands worked. He was HONEST, knowledgeable, and diligent. He even made design and placement suggestions we hadn't even thought of. His follow-through and professionalism are exceptional, and the same applies to Meggie, the office manager, and Gana, their contractor. At every step of the process, I was updated by either Tony or Meggie, who called and promptly scheduled me for measurements and installation. We had 4 windows and 2 large sliding doors replaced, and Gana and his son did them all in several hours. I couldn't have made a better decision for replacement windows and sliding doors! I quoted a good number of companies before choosing to go with XOtek. Tony was very professional and took his time to share what he knew and answer my questions. He also showed me two different types of windows to compare. I went with Amerimax Windows due to the quality and great ratings. I also decided on XOtek because of their excellent reputation, are a local company, and after doing tons of research, I found that the installation is as equally important if not more than the windows themselves. The price was very reasonable and lower than I expected. I was told the windows would arrive in about 4 weeks and they arrived exactly on time ( I actually expected delays and was surprised that they arrived exactly when I was told they would). Got a call that the windows were in on a Wednesday and they were able to come and install them over the next day and a half! As far as installation, the team took their COVID precautions and did a beautiful job, taking care of surrounding areas. I've already recommended them to neighbors who asked about the windows. They sell windows only and work with windows everyday, so you would think the work would be good. but NO its over priced! I had them do almost all my windows just recently and the work is average for a window company. The lady in the office is not very nice and not professional at assisting us. We had some concerns after the work, and she seemed impatient dealing with us and answering our questions. Different houses have different structures and material, but they only care about installing their product and nothing else. I recommend you to look for someone who cares a little more. I am a real customer who worked with them. I hope the business owner will not request to remove my review again just because my experience was unpleasant. read more

Both XOTec and ABC Windows and more were the top two windows installers according to Checkbook, so I contacted them both. The person from XOTec came first to me and gave me a very detailed presentation about the different types of windows and what I needed to know. They then gave me an incredible estimate very quickly, and even threw in metal screens at no extra charge. The person from ABC Windows and more came next, and spent a bit less time with me, and took longer to give me an estimate, and the estimate itself was over 50% more then XOTec. Tony come out and give me an estimate to replace my very old windows. I was taken aback that I got such a fantastic quote. I had anticipated about double the price. Tony explained thoroughly the process involved so I had no further questions to ask. Everything was upfront, no hidden fees, etc. They set up the installation promptly as soon as the windows were made. To say I am extremely pleased is even an understatement. It was such a relief to see the masterful workmanship that went into getting the window installation. They made it look easy which I knew wasn't the case. They started promptly and finished up within the estimated time frame I was told. They worked efficiently and professionally. I did notice that on a few windows that I had closing the blinds and they will be coming back right after the Thanksgiving holiday to fix that situation which is also a relief that they were so accommodating so I can't even list that as a flaw. It's so nice having my beautiful windows and not to feel the breeze that was seeping in on my old windows. I'm sure I'll notice a difference in my PG&E bill soon too. We used XOtek back in 1997(!) and 24 years later the windows are still in good shape installation wise. The glass however is fogging up and not insulating well any more. Called XOtec today to acquire about the Lifetime Warranty. Maggie called me back right away, but unfortunately my manufacturer (Sunview) is out of business. I contacted them through their contact page on their website twice with no response and called the phone number I was provided through an answer here on Yelp. Again no response. Just had 29 (yes, twenty nine) windows replaced in my house including an 8x10 & several odd shaped windows 6 feet up on the walls and couldn't be happier! The Ameri-max window quality is impressive & the installers were top notch! They went the extra miles in making sure we had the correct windows for our situation and went above and beyond repairing dry rot & correcting errors the builder made 30 years ago so our house wouldn't rot around our new windows. We had a bunch of wood windows in our 1930's house that we're rotting through the wood in the sashes. So we went to XOtek and Maggie very patiently explained how the different types of windows worked, finish options, trims, etc. and gave us pricing options in a way that we could buy all or part of the windows we selected. They had a carpenter come over to inspect and measure our existing sills and jambs and determined that they were still in good condition, saving us the cost of replacing them. The windows came in on time and the crew came to our house on time, and replaced 4 single hung windows and a big picture window in half a day, quietly, efficiently, and professionally. The price is better than the companies that you see advertising all the time, plus the ratings of customer satisfaction are way better. The company met their contractual obligations. However, I did not like their quality of work . The work was not done properly on the initial installation. 2 additional visits were required to even make the patio door work properly. The stucco around the patio door is now thicker than the door. I found it frustrating communicating with the owner and employees except for the office manager. read more

We just had all of the windows our home replaced. I was very please with how quick they were to install them and how clean they kept the work area. We had sliding doors replaced with windows and a window replace with french doors. We had 12 windows replaced total, 4 of them being extremely large. As far as we can tell the quality of the windows is just as good as anything else on the market. It took four weeks for the windows to be manufactured, which was the expected time. I had a very disappointing experience with XOTek, in a couple of areas. First of all, it took twice as long to have my windows manufactured than what I was told to expect. Which I do not hold XOTek responsible for, of course -- but they didn't bother to let me know at all. I finally called when I hadn't heard from them in a month, and found that they KNEW that my windows were going to be three weeks late, but didn't think to inform ME. I was waiting for an installation date so that I could schedule other work -- painting, for example -- immediately afterwards, so not knowing when it would happen was inconvenient to me, THE CUSTOMER. But they didn't bother to call and let me know there would be a delay of three full weeks. When it came time for installation, they sent a crew of two, only one of whom actually did much work, while the other mostly cleaned up and carried things. They scheduled one day for the job, which was not enough time. The crew of two was here for almost 12 hours. And they did a sloppy, sloppy job. Not only was there trash all over my yard -- including screws and a utility knife blade on my driveway, chunks of metal, wood and vinyl on my lawn and cigarette butts in my flower beds, pieces of trim everywhere -- but, more importantly, the finish work on the inside was horrible. They used MASSIVE amounts of caulking, slopping it everywhere. There were visible fingerprints in the caulking, globs of it on cabinets and walls near the window. It was sloppy, unprofessional and ugly. I called the next day to complain, and they sent the same guy back to fix it. He clearly didn't really see what I had a problem with, but did the caulking again, and it was BETTER, but still not good. I called again, left a message saying I was still not happy, and surprised that they apparently couldn't do the job properly, and didn't even get a call back. I honestly don't think they cared, and I don't think that the guy who did the work COULD do any better. Just unprofessional. Also, there was a defective clip on one window that makes it partially unusable. The installer said that a new one would be ordered and he'd bring it by and put it in. It is now almost a month since the install, and no word from XOTek, or sign of this clip, so clearly I am going to have to be the squeaky wheel again. That said, I think they did a good job with the window installation...but the finish work, and the respect for making our house look as good when the work was done as it did before they started, and the overall customer service, was sorely lacking. I would never recommend XOTek, and certainly will never use them again. read more

Recently had a sliding glass door replaced. Maggie and Sam are very knowledgeable about their products, are very personable and easy to deal with, and the communication was good. Sam oversaw the project with his employee who was very thorough and meticulous with his work. It took 8 hours to install the door, which included replacing the outside trim and the inside trim (I had no inside trim previously). Very pleased with the service, product and installation. Tony Kim, head of XOtek, came to our house yesterday to give us a quote on some windows we need to replace. From the beginning of his visit, he didn't seem to be paying attention to what we wanted. We want casement windows and he said they were out of fashion. It went down from there, in my opinion. When he had seen the windows and we were talking about details, we said we wanted the windows to come ready to paint, he said we should go with the factory painting. I said I was going to paint them. At this point, Mr. Kim said to me, "You??? YOU??? You can't do that. It's too difficult." He went on about how he never paints, because it's too difficult. He seemed to think that, because I need trekking poles for stability for walking, that I would be incapable of painting. I have painted most of the area that was remodeled 20+ years ago. I am good at painting, not that those details have any bearing in the matter. I could be completely incompetent and his derision would still be out of line. I interrupted his comments a few times, saying, "Excuse me," and "That [comment] is out of line." He did stumble out an apology of sorts. And as he was leaving, her tried to apologize again, saying, "You know I didn't mean to offend you." No, I DON'T know that, and I resent having words put in my mouth. XOtek will NOT be getting our business. He could give it away, and we still wouldn't take it. It was an example of how NOT to treat potential customers. We first chose XOtek to install two windows in our kitchen - one included a bay window overlooking our view of the bay. The window has made such a difference in our kitchen and we love sitting there looking out at the view. It not only makes the room look larger, but the view is so much more expanded from the flat window that was there before. Their cost estimate on this project was very good. They performed with excellence in all phases of the project from the initial sales presentation to the final completion of the installation, including follow-up. The sales presentation was very thorough and provided me with an excellent understanding of the details of replacement windows, so that I was able to better understand what to look for as I was doing my research, etc. He encouraged me to get multiple quotes so that I would be more knowledgeable about the window replacement availabilities and companies, and be able to make a more informed decision. The office administrative staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The installation crew was very thorough and meticulous in doing the job. Three different persons came out to measure the windows on three separate occasions. The person who did the installation was a marvel to observe. He was very detailed conscious and very persistent to insure that the work was exactly as he wanted it. The crew cleaned up the work area, so that when they were gone, it was very clean without any residual mess. There was one minor flaw in the window mechanism, and they came out immediately to correct the issue. The windows are great - the replacement windows are made by Amerimax Building Products, Inc. After doing my research, I believe that they are the best you can find in my area. I give XOTek a full 5 star rating without any reservations.
