Now I recommend VL to all of you. We have been shopping for lighting as we update the outside of our 1970's CT colonial and our kitchen. Countless websites with thousands of pictures led to some frustration and we decided to go visit some lighting stores. Some stores may be highly recommended but are really for designers, they are by appointment only, have a very limited supply for a showroom, but offer a really big screen so you can browse their website (ugh!) Others have a bigger supply in the showroom and have nice people who understand lighting. Then there is Valley Lighting! They had a huge selection to look at (and touch) a friendly staff who really knew their inventory, availability and options and were also full of ideas that made us open up the options we were considering. We worked with Zac and he was really great as we waffled on every aspect from design, color, and size. We settled on a design for the outdoor lights in about 20 minutes, after searching for the last several weeks. We purchased 2 Large, 2 Medium, and 2 Small lights to mount on the exterior as well as 3 post lights for the driveway. They also had a huge selection of lightbulbs and guided us through witch wattage and color would work best for our application. This seems elementary that a lighting store would do this, but I haven't seen it elsewhere. We were able to bring home two lights which I mounted (pictured) and the rest were ordered and we expect them in 2 weeks. Now that we accomplished this project it is time to finalize the kitchen lights and for that we will certainly return to VL.

A few companies responded. One company was booked until September while another company declined. A third company was able to show up the same day to measure and provide an estimate. MacVane Electrical was the fourth company to reply but was the quickest to provide an estimate after I texted pictures of the circuit boxes as well as an approximate distance. I was hesitant due to lack of online reviews. Phil (Sr.) quickly responded in the same evening with an estimate as well as a commitment to show up the next day to do the work. Phil (Jr) arrived the next day (Tuesday) as promised along with Ray, and both got the work done in about 2 hours. Both are super nice guys. Turns out Phil and his father started the company just 6 months ago, hence there are few to no reviews online. They are friendly, clean, and thoroughly explained the work that needed to be done. Phil Jr was so thorough that after he finished and left, he called the sauna company to verify the type of plug the sauna required. He then came back an hour or so later to replace the receptacle to the correct type. I am so glad I did! Perfect shade for my lamp, 'old' looking but not 'boudoir-ish'! I had been unable to find an antique brass satin finish chain & fittings for a found on the curb on trash day 'Tiffany like' chandelier that I had looked high & low to match @ the 'usual' places w'no luck. Luis arrived at 6:15 PM and removed the old furniture. US Furniture employees went out of their way to make my delivery a good one. I purchased a bed and was not clearly informed that the bed I was receiving was used. Had I been told upfront that I was purchasing a used bed, I would never have agreed to the purchase. When I brought the issue to their attention, I returned the bed, expecting the situation to be resolved. Instead, I was given the floor model as a replacement. Again, this was not what I agreed to purchase. To make matters worse, they will not give me my money back, and they have been prolonging the process of getting me a new bed. It has now been weeks, and I am still waiting for this situation to be properly resolved. What has been especially frustrating is the way management has handled the entire situation. The management has been rude, disrespectful, and dismissive, and they have not treated my concerns with the seriousness they deserve. As a paying customer, I should not have to repeatedly chase a business for a resolution to a problem that was created by their own lack of transparency. The biggest issue here is trust and transparency. Customers should be clearly informed BEFORE purchasing whether an item is new, used, or a floor model. I should not have to discover these details after the sale and then spend weeks trying to get the situation corrected. Please be extremely careful if you shop here. Ask very specific questions about the condition of the furniture, whether it has previously been used, and whether you are receiving a floor model before you pay. Based on my experience, I will never shop here again, and I hope sharing this review prevents someone else from having to go through the same frustrating experience.
