They did a wonderful job on my mother's dress for my wedding and then made a mess of my wedding dress. I will post photos after the wedding. I came for bustle work and bra cups. Bra cups were sticking up out of the dress. Appliqué on the top of dress was folded and stuck out awkwardly. When I came back they trimmed the appliqué on the top and told me it came that way. I am very frustrated that I came here with such a fancy dress. I came with recommendation and coupon from boutique across the hall. I would use them again for non-wedding tailoring but not wedding specialty. read more

I tend to procrastinate and my wedding has been no different. So I purchased my dress and waited several weeks before I tried it on and of course I needed some alterations. So I stopped in to custom tailoring services on a Saturday to see if they could help me. I initially anticipated annoyance but hoped someone would take pity on me and help me with my dress. The woman there was wonderful! She looked at my dress we talked through my concerns and she reassured me that I didn't need alterations but I did need some sticky tape to ensure that my bust line stayed where I wanted it. The fact that she was willing to help me and did it with a smile has me giving her five stars. I'll be back for alterations and I'll let you know how those go. read more

Was recommended by Evermore Bridal and got a discount there with the purchase of my wedding dress. My dress was a VERY intricate two piece with a lot of beading and detail. I was assured that the owner, Cindy was very good st beadwork and alterations and enjoyed the task. She was initially very pleasant and confident. My mother in law is a very knowledgeable seamstress and it seemed she had a thoughtful grasp on my needs. My dress required: 1. Hem she said would be taken from the bottom- the skirt has a built in, beaded belt 2. Bustle she said she would fasten with pearls as to blend in with the look of the dress 3. Taking in of the skirt and dress 4. Major breast padding- she fashioned two pads in each cup She repeatedly told me the amount of work my dress needed took a lot of time and work, costing me over $500. I trusted her. My seamstress mother in law trusted her. My dress was completed ahead of schedule... almost so quickly, I was concerned that with the amount of work she said she needed to do that it was done in a rush. At my last fitting (even if it needed more work, there was not enough time... dress was delayed from company because it was faulty the first time upon arrival) I was so excited to get my hands on it, however her attention to detail was so sloppy! It's disheartening to think such work was done on my dress. She made a one of a kind, expensive dress look like sewing class. 1. She clearly took the hem from the beaded belt on my skirt, instead of the bottom. The uniform beaded design formerly on the skirt was rearranged, with gems sticking out. She cut too much fabric from the top which she tried to conceal. She pleated the train by the bustle which made it look tacky. From the dress, she steamed the seam in the opposite direction. When we pointed it out to her she failed to acknowledge it and only half attempted to steam it in the appropriate direction. 2. The bustle was pretty well done, however she fastened 1", flat, pearl colored buttons which she hand sewed with thick tulle through my skirt. It was such an eye sore and did not compliment the dress at all. The tulle she used to create a fastener to the buttons made it impossible to remove or I'd run the risk of having holes in the skirt. My dress was dirty. My mother in law and I spent the full afternoon the day before my wedding picking off all sorts of colored thread and hair from the tulle. I would think a seamstress who works frequently with wedding dresses would be careful to avoid this. My mother in law took the bra cups out completely, which was a huge waste of $30/cup and carefully built bra cups together to fit the shape of my body. She hand sewed the beads on my belt the night before my wedding to fix the loose threads and mismatched beads and gems Cindy configured. She even resteamed the pleat on my dress. read more

I had a pair of pants (dress slacks) tailored here recently that were absolutely butchered by a local retailer. My pants came back, and they fit better than any pair of pants I own. The young lady who pinned my pants did an excellent job at making sure they were hemmed and tapered for a more modern look. I don't know what the going rate for tailoring is, but I felt like I paid a fair price. It seemed like late June was a busy season for them (wedding season maybe?), so my pants took about 2 weeks to get back. I would certainly recommend their work, and I will be bringing more slacks to have them tailored as well. read more

Mary is AMAZING! I am extremely short so I almost need every long dress I buy hemmed. I have gotten 3 dresses hemmed here now and each time the results were the same! They definitely over deliver, especially when it comes to time to complete. I came in this past week on Tuesday with a dress I needed hemmed by Saturday I had another dress I needed hemmed as well but was in no rush with that one. Their actual tailoring is pretty good. I'm not sure why it's called two mothers, it's really only the one mother, the younger one, who does all the work. Based on the tailoring I'd give them 4 stars, but they are inconveniently located with inconvenient hours, so it's a little hard to drop off and pick up work clothes if you, well, work. The shop is deep within a Burlington Coat Factory. You may know that in general, Burlington Coat Factories are not very well organized stores, with lots of cheap clothes crammed into less space than you need to comfortably walk through, and the prices are quite good, but it's going to cost you time instead of money to find your specific size any any given specific article of clothing. Also, Burlington Clothes Factory shops are magnets for badly supervised children and obese customers with communicable viruses. You think I'm stereotyping? Hang out in this store for a bit. The tailors are hidden in the men's office wear department, and open only at these random intervals in the middle of store hours, but never through the whole store hours (mothers who prioritize their children I'm guessing). It's not even convenient when you buy a suit there, because the tailors aren't always there, so you have to time it just right. They're not there during their posted hours necessarily. You can't pay them directly, you have to get a slip, go to the cashiers on the other end of the store, there are inevitably long lines at the register, and there are also security guards on (not all the time, again at random times) who will be suspicious of you when you come to pick up your tailoring, on the way out (have your receipt handy). The lady I met with was very professonal and was very attentive to my needs and wants. ***It is important (and in regards to the previous review by Rohan) to have an appointment with one of the tailoring staff of the Two Mothers. Both women have been flexible with their schedules recently and in the past to accomodate my own very busy schedule. Two mothers really do work for this company, hence the name, and they both have done great work on many of my dresses for events (weddings, corporate events, and conventions etc...). Perhaps the two mothers are related somehow since they work so well together professionally in the business :).
