Tony removed the drapes in our family room and came back later to install the new/relined drapes. He obviously has a lot of experience with this, worked very quickly, and was also very professional. We used Bay Area Window for four skylight shades…read more Design (Aleksandra): 5/5 Aleksandra was communicative and responsive throughout the process. She provided meaningful options and we are happy with the design. We discussed with Aleksandra that we wanted the shades installed as close to our skylights as possible, and she confirmed with the installer that that was possible. Install (David): 2/5 We did a walkthrough with David and again explained that we wanted the shades as close to our skylights as possible. He asked, and we told him, that we also wanted the solar recharging panels to be on the side where the shade collected when opened (so the panels would be less visible). To be fair, David warned us that he would likely scratch the walls and may leave gaps because the coverage around our skylights was uneven. Both of those came to pass (which I am separately fixing), but that is not why we are unhappy with the install. Rather: - Despite the fact our ceiling is flat and our skylights are flat, David installed the shades at a slight angle. When I confronted him about it, he stated he was trying to follow the wall around the skylight. I disagree that his approach accomplished that. In any event, if there were options as to how the shades were going to be installed, we believe David should have conferred with us before unilaterally making a decision. - David also installed the solar panels on the opposite side of where we discussed. David stated he had no recollection of our prior conversation. We disagree that we never discussed this, but as above, if there were options, we believe David should have checked with us before installing. After confronting David about the shade with the most severe angle he begrudgingly reinstalled it (photos attached). Aleksandra did offer a partial refund and offered to have David come back out and reinstall the shade. However, we do not have the availability to monitor David the entire time he is here, which appears to be the only way to ensure things are done as we discussed. Additionally, the 3 of the 4 corner covers have fallen from the shade that David reinstalled and we do not relish the same thing happening to the other shades. The upshot is Aleksandra is easy to work with, but if you get David to do your install you may want to supervise his work.

I got another company that was very upfront and got all 10 blinds done for less than half of what you charge and your girl on the phone was trying to talk me out of it more than talk me into it. So that's a big red flag!! I could buy all new blinds for the price you charge for cleaning them, but there was always a response. We probably can't clean them??

We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including High Tech Screens & Shades. We thankfully discovered High Tech Screens via online searches, and validated them through our Windows & Doors subcontractor/reseller. (we installed the highest end Marvin Ultimates and Marvin Moderns throughout our project) High Tech (Josh and Justin) arrived as scheduled, and always on time. They assessed and installed custom screens on four of our doors, including two outswinging french doors (2 screens on each), and two single outswinging doors. High Tech's attention to detail and quality work is notable. The finishes match our door trim as desired. The function of the screens are excellent, and the screens "hide-away" from view when not in use / retracted. Further, High Tech's screens and craftsmanship are so good that we unfortunately had a worker inadvertently walk through one of them after installation (the installation was so clean he didn't see the screen). Josh and Justin found time to return to the site within 48 hours and repair the screen so that it works like new. We cannot recommend highly enough High Tech Screens & Shades. If you are looking for a professional job/installation for screens for a high-end home, they are the truly the only firm you need to consider.
