I went and saw Kyle W. and got an okay haircut. I explained what I was looking for in detail prior to starting but I feel like Kyle could have done a better job incorporating the things I was looking for. It felt similar to when you go to a barber that has pictures on the wall and they ask you which cut you want. It felt like Kyle was just trying to figure out which "picture" I was describing so he could give me that kind of cookie-cutter haircut rather than tailoring it to what I asked for and what would look best on me. The result was a 6/10 or 7/10 haircut so not terrible but it left more to be desired. Overall, it was an okay experience. I'm sure the quality might improve on repeated visits but I probably won't go back as the service did feel a little rushed. The salon felt nice and the receptionist is great so your mileage may vary depending on who you see. read more

I visited Cut Atlanta for the first time this weekend. Even though I live in NYC, Akilah has been cutting my hair for years; and I was in desperate need of her "shear" life-changing ability. So I flew in super early just to be able to get an appointment with her. The atmosphere was very clean and inviting. The woman who greeted me at the front counter was so hospitable and made sure I had everything I needed, prior to sitting with Akilah: bathroom, cape, water, tea, snacks... and a smile! Once I sat down with Akilah, she quickly identified the problem areas of my out-grown haircut. I talked to her about what I wanted; we talked about my current lifestyle and my ability to maintain a new style... and then she started cutting immediately. Less than 10 minutes in, I could see the vision coming to life and I was beyond pleased. But that's no surprise with Akilah! (Like I mentioned earlier, she's been cutting my hair for years.) We went on with the standard procedures of the appointment (wash, condition, dry, style etc.) and I was done and out of the chair, 30 minutes before I expected. Akilah is honestly one of the best EVER when it comes to haircuts. She's super knowledgable and very professional with my time. Rudi Moore is an artist! I have very difficult hair - thick, course, and curly - but not ringlet curly - moderately curly- which I actually think is more difficult. She cuts my hair so I can either wear it straight or curly (depending on the humidity of course.). Rudi has gone out of her way to find the right products that will work with my hair type. I was told that they could not do my brow waxing because the person who does them was busy. But, I could go across the street to Mint Salon and have them done. Jason Tichenor has been my hair colorist for almost 7 years. I started going to him when I still lived in San Francisco, so I am so sad to say goodbye to him with my recent move to Minneapolis! I have never felt as comfortable getting highlights as I did sitting in his chair. I knew I never needed to worry or stress about what I was going to look like walking out of the salon. My highlights were always PERFECT and looked so natural. I have always gotten compliments on my hair, but all of the credit should go to Jason. Jason was the only one I would trust to do my highlights in the year leading up to my wedding. I trusted him so much in fact that had I gotten married in Atlanta, there is no one else who would've touched my hair that day! I also had my fiance go to him for haircuts in the months leading up to our wedding. He previously had never spent more than $20 on a haircut, and FINALLY learned to appreciate why spending a little more to get a haircut with someone as good as Jason is worth it.
