Seafood was fresh, I came back twice this week. I don't have a frame of reference for price comparison, but I was happy with my choices. I had the flounder, grouper cheeks, stone crab, bay scallops, and gulf shrimp. Some highlights. First time cooking grouper cheeks and it is the way to go. Much easier and quicker than cooking a filet. Came out moist with pronounced flavor. The scallops smelled so fresh that I did not have the heart to cook it, so I made ceviche. It was sweet and had slight brininess. The stone crab is already cooked. It was sweet and easy to crack, but for the price and work I don't think I would order it again. The gulf shrimp tastes fresh but have been frozen, so as you devein it the shells fall apart. The store is bright and clean. The case displays fish that have been filet ahead of time. The clerk says the fish comes in the morning so maybe it is prepped elsewhere. The clerk is friendly, but unfortunately is not wearing a mask. Hence I did not take any indoor photos.

a text message from a customer

We were there at 1:00 PM today (the third time this week) after being told to come after 11:00 AM today for oysters. Their Facebook post today also states: We will have 5 boxes of oysters when the truck comes today around noon! The man looked at us like we were crazy when we asked for a few dozen oysters. He told us to come back around 3 or 4. We said we were told to come after 11 today to which he replied "No you weren't; they are never here this early." As we were walking away, I said thank you, but we were told after 11 just so you know. He said "No one here would have told you that." when he himself is the one who told us to come after 11 today. Not only were we lied to twice by the same guy, but then he accused us of being liars. Why would we waste our time driving to this establishment three times to leave empty handed?! We will gladly pay more to get them elsewhere with reliable and more importantly, kind service. Update: another accusation of lying by the owner, now informed we should have placed an order which was never mentioned during our previous visits (like we were supposed to know), also noticed the aforementioned Facebook post has been removed

The owner and staff are very attentive. Whether you leave a phone message or order online through Fb Messenger, your pickup order is ready and waiting when you arrive. Seafood is fresh and when local right off the fishermen's boats.

They were pretty busy but the food arrived quickly. Lots of people were stopping in for fresh seafood from the market while a few were having lunch outside. The food was delicious and everyone loved it. The only issue we had was that I was hoping to just get fried shrimp for my daughter but the only options were coconut shrimp or the shrimp po boy. They said that's all they could do. Once we received the shrimp po boy, I was confused why they couldn't just give us that but without the bread. Oh well, she just picked the shrimp off the bun and loved it anyways. Just didn't seem very accommodating when they seemed so helpful to the customers ordering from the actual fresh seafood market. We will definitely come back.

I've gone here a handful of times throughout the years. I've never been impressed. This time…read morethough, will be my last. They changed the inside of the market. Before, you used to be able to view the live lobsters and see them pick them out. I used to like this, because I want to make sure the lobsters are alive and moving when they are removed from the water. Now, I don't know where they keep them, but I can't see them. I wouldn't trust that I am getting the fresh and very alive lobsters. Second, and most important of all, the prices are BAD. I called them a couple weeks ago for the price of lobsters. They told me 3 for $65. For me, that's extremely expensive. For me, I wouldn't pay that for myself, but my wife wanted me to cook some lobsters (would have been only her second time having lobster in her life). I decided to give them a try one last time and compare it to other markets that cost much less. If I could get similar taste at the other markets, I would no longer go here. Sadly, when I went in, I noticed the prices were now 3 chick lobsters for $75, or $25 a pound if you don't want 3. I asked about this, telling them they recently told me they were $65 on the phone... maybe not more than 2 weeks ago... and they said they raised their prices. Holy shit. That's not a $1 raise... or a $3 raise, but a whopping $10 raise. It wasn't too long ago that 3 of their lobsters were $25, and even that seemed expensive. I was willing to try them one last time at $65 (highway robbery bent over backwards), so I asked if they would honor the price quoted on the phone a few weeks ago, and they said no. So I walked out without spending one penny. These prices are terrible. TERRIBLE. Other markets in the area are charging $15 a pound for new england live lobsters. It's their store, they can charge what they want, but I won't buy anything if the prices are too high. Maybe this will go out of business like the port charlotte location? Maybe the snow birds don't know about other places to buy fresh lobster and pay the price? Well, if you know where to shop, you can find everything I've seen in this store for about 1/2 the cost. Tourist trap? I don't know, but buyer beware.

I enjoyed popping into the Culture Coffee shop to grab a drink before heading home. Overall, a fun and bustling market. It appeared to be dog-friendly as well.
