Saw this place while heading back to my vacation rental, so I decided to stop. The area seems to be lacking in seafood choices, so I was hoping to fix this problem. As I entered, I noticed that the fish options on display were lacking. The lady in front of me bought the last shrimp that they had. Some of the fish didn't look fresh. I asked if they had crabs or crab legs, and was told that they no longer sell them. The lady behind the counter was super nice, but there really wasn't anything that I would consider buying. We bought fresh local seafood from this fish market. The service was excellent and the seafood very fresh and delicious. We bought large gulf shrimp, hogfish, mahimahi and grouper. It was so good, we turned around and restocked. The hogfish was my favorite. I never had it before and now it is on my radar. I definitely recommend this fish market. If I could give the Placida Fish Market zero stars I would. Republicans I advise you to stay clear of this Fish market. I walked inside looking for Octopus and the lady behind the counter told me that I need a face mask in order to be served. I told her that I will not comply with the face mask policy and she proceeded to throw a business card on the counter and told me that I can order from the parking lot and that I had two minutes to leave the building or else she was going to contact the sheriff. I refuse to support any liberal business like this. Yelp is probably going to suspend me for my review on this business, but that's ok. LETS Go BRANDON!!! read more

Before coming to Florida, we searched for a quality fish market. The reviews we found brought us to the PFM. When we arrived (early afternoon on a Saturday), we were greeted and given time to make our selection. We chose red snapper, grouper, and swordfish. We paid around $20 a lb but received a discount for paying in cash. We were not offered the discount but saw the sign and had to ask at the register for the discount. We asked for ice to get the fish to our rental. They did not charge us for the ice. That was cool. Fast forward to our house on the beach. We fired up the grill, seasoned the fish (using a variety of flavored butters from PFM), threw the fish on the grill and waited for dinner. We were disappointed that the swordfish smelled super fishy (tasted like old swordfish). The red snapper was ok. The grouper was good. Day two - we rinsed and marinaded the swordfish hoping for a better experience. Nope. The grouper was still good and the snapper was rubbery to the point of being inedible. We even tried to curry the fish. No luck. So here is our take away. Cool treasure box for the kids. Kind employees. Limited selection. Not the freshest fish. read more

Great store. Good quality fish, fair prices. So much better than Publix market in Placida that only had fish from other countries there. I was also very happy to see they required masks for customers and employees all wore masks - since I was down visiting my 80+ dad and friends and don't want to catch covid and give it to them, and it allows the employees to be safe and keep on working without getting sick. I see too many business that can't staff their operations due to employees getting sick with covid. This is our second year in Rotonda West. We look forward to a trip to the Placida Fish Market. The variety of fish was good on our recent trip. Being from Minnesota, we are use to frozen fish, except the fresh salmon flown in from Alaska, fresh walleye, and fresh steelhead caught in Minnesota waters. The fish that we purchased, flounder, was excellent. I am not an expert on freshness, but it did not smell fishy and seemed fresh. We liked the mask wearing of the staff there. It made us feel safe and respected. I personally go to stores wear there is a mask mandate, especially where the staff is concerned. If the doctor's offices require masks, then I think stores also should adopt that mandate. This will all be over soon if everyone gets on board with restrictions to quell the spread. It is good for business and good for our health. read more

The fish market is tucked away in a small strip mall that's nearly impossible to get to due to the ongoing construction, but it's totally worth. I bought some stellar pink gulf shrimp, scallops and oysters. They were all very fresh and delicious and made a great meal. There's only a small selection available but that's because they depend on what the boat brings in- so you can be sure it's fresh. One caveat: this store stinks! Not from the fish, but from the ciggies the owner smokes. read more

Placida fish market has moved. It's now near Noy's restaurant off of Gasparilla rd. Construction is done so it's easier to get to. Store is very clean with a great seafood selection. Everything remains the same..and more of it. Friendly folk; mostly family will have you leaving with delicious fish and feeling like an old friend. Fresh local fish selection; too numerous to list here, sweet Key West pink shrimp in an assortment of sizes, stone crab, dips, gumbo, & loads more. And thoughtful cooking advice. Great pricing, fresh healthful product, & unequaled service make this my favorite stop. And unquestionably the best Key lime pie this longtime Florida visitor has tasted.
