Thea Koufopoulos is the BEST stylist I've ever had! I came in for a cut at the Seaport location with split ends I'd been neglecting for months, hoping for a refreshed style I wouldn't need to fuss with too much to get ready, but no concrete image in my head. Thea looked at my hair carefully, asked thorough questions, and talked me through the style she recommended. She asked me how much length I'd be willing to lose, and when I said "as little as possible", she ACTUALLY LISTENED! Most times at other salons, I leave with much shorter hair than I'm ready for. Thea cut in beautiful long layers to give my long, fine hair movement and body that it desperately needed. I left with bouncy princess hair that I cannot stop looking at, and that is easily recreated at home - another important perk! I will be back, and I will send my friends! Awesome location and super cute interior. I randomly found this place online and within minutes I felt perfectly comfortable. Cut Splice in the Charlestown Navy Yard is hands down the best place to get a men's haircut. I have thinning wavy hair that's difficult to deal with. They always manage to make my hair look FULLER when I leave. The stylists are really skilled at manipulating layers and textures. For this reason alone, getting a haircut at Cut Splice is a big upgrade from most men's basic basic buzz/fade barbershops. The owner, stylists and other staff members are absolutely delightful there too. Grant, Vildan, Julie and the others are all so skilled, and will make you look and feel like a million bucks. read more

I absolutely love this hair salon and all of the employees are just so kind and accommodating. Laura is my stylist of choice and her work is amazing. Every time I go in whether it's for a cut, color, or blowout I come out completely satisfied and looking fabulous. I have been going to Julie for years now, and when she moved from her previous salon to Cut Splice, there was no question I would follow her wherever she went. She is amazing. I am extremely fussy about my highlights, and Julie nails it every time. Sometimes I like them lighter, sometimes darker, and I don't like streaky highlights or anything that looks bleachy. Julie is able to change my hair color while still making it look well blended and natural. I get so many compliments every time she gives me highlights! She is also great at cuts, and I trust her completely. She is not afraid to tell me that a particular cut won't work on my hair type, which I really appreciate. She gives suggestions when I am looking for advice but also delivers exactly what I want when I want something specific. I knew I wanted about 10 inches cut off my hair. Vildan totally delivered on a super cute above the shoulder length cut. She was very thorough and even took time to show me how to style it. Not a COVID friendly place... I like to support local businesses but I also expect them to be thoughtful. We have been quarantining since March, as a high risk family. I have been a loyal customer of this place up until that point (they are located very close to where I live). After hearing my friends feeling iffy about COVID precautions at this place post reopening, I decided not to visit in person and instead called and left a message asking if I can stop by to pick up my usual hair gloss, which is a product you apply, wait for ten mins and wash off. The owner, Grant, who has done my hair for years, did not even bother to call back with an answer. Front desk person gave me an explanation like 'this is chemical substance that cannot leave the place', if I didn't know they were doing this exact thing during complete lock down, I would have naively believed her. making up a lie or not bothering to kindly return a call is insulting. I understand they are a trying to maximize their profits and I was happy to pay for the full price I would have paid if I received the treatment at the salon, including the tip. I ended up getting what I needed from another hair salon. And we had a laugh about the 'chemical substance and legal implications'... please have some respect for your customers, and don't make things up. Have respect for people who are continuing to quarantine... just because you think Covid is over, it's not over... and for at risk families, it may not be over for a long while. So I'll surround myself with local businesses who respect that rather than trying to force their agenda on me. read more

Keri has been coloring and cutting my hair since last spring. When I first came to her I was a bit traumatized by a botched coloring job that not only left me with a color I did not like but also with hair that was severely damaged. Keri assured me that she would be able to correct the color and bring my hair back to life. Within three visits I had a head of hair that I loved (and still love:-). My hair color has depth and warmth and, more importantly, my hair is healthy and shiny! Keri and the rest of the staff at Cut-Splice are so kind and welcoming. I seriously cannot believe it's taken me this long to write a review for Keri. I've always been really low-key about my hair, getting haircuts maybe once a year, boredom-cutting myself some bangs over a bathroom sink, and letting my hairbrush gather dust on my dresser. I was really nervous about dyeing my hair purple, knowing that it'd take a lot more maintenance - but it's turned out to be amazing! Keri treats my hair with such care and artistry that it looks great in the salon and for months after each visit. She knows I don't spend time on my hair when I'm not sitting in her chair, so she gives me cuts and color that fit with my lifestyle and look super fun.
