LASIK isn't painless and simple. I had lasik just over a month ago and my experience so far has not been so good working with Cutarelli and associates. The day after my surgery I was unable to open my eyes for a full day due to the surgery flap being done off center in my right eye. The tears burned my right eye while the left one was extremely gooey and it was all very painful and difficult to deal with. I had to have this corrected immediately the next day on a second visit and the only way to open my eye was through the use of numbing drops. On this visit; where the Dr showed up 45 minutes late to do the readjustment he put a contact in my eye causing me to flinch involuntarily and the Dr yelled at me, "You need to stop moving or you're going to screw this whole thing up!" That was very unprofessional especially when I was a client that paid nearly 4K for the surgery that left me nearly blind for a full day. It has been several weeks I still get dryness and irritation. While my left eye was 20/20 following the surgery I have yet to hit 20/20 and while a couple of the people from the office were nice it doesn't make up for this subpar experience. read more

My experience with Cuterelli Vision has been top-notch and made me feel comfortable throughout the process which is what was most important to me. I had been contemplating LASIK for years and finally pulled the trigger this spring. IN doing my research, I only spoke with the most respected providers in the Denver market...can't take chances with your vision. While other providers offered cheaper pricing, the staff at Cuterelli always conducted their business professionally and were very careful to offer support without being pushy or aggressive. I ultimately made the decision to have my LASIK done at Cuterelli on 4/11/14. The main reason was the previously mentioned comfort level I had with the staff (Frankie is great) and because I knew Dr. Cuterelli himself would be conducting the procedure. They also price-match their competitors, which is great! Having done the surgery on a Friday afternoon, I was out of commission on Friday night, but that's to be expected. What wasn't expected was that I could pretty much see on Saturday morning! I tested 20/20 when I went back for my first post-op on Monday afternoon and my vision has improved even more since then. I still have some blurred vision when looking at my computer screen, but it is manageable and still improving. And I have no issues with night driving. My Experience With Cutarelli Vision - I had vision correction surgery with a different doctor in the mid 80's with great results. - Summer of 2018, I went to Cutarelli Vision to see if I was a candidate for a distance vision touch up. - After being examined by Cutarelli's staff, I was told that I was a candidate. I was talked into monovision by Irina, the office manager. I was not told that I could try contact lenses to see if monovision would work for me. I was told it was a good procedure, considering my age. - I was not offered the option of doing a PRK procedure or even told it existed. No comparison of procedures was explained to me. I was not told that the risk of doing a lasik procedure on an older patient who had a prior procedure increased the risk of epithelial ingrowth. I was never told of epithelial ingrowth. - I met Dr. Cutarelli for the first time as I was walking to the chair to have the procedure done. - After the procedure, I sat in a chair for a few minutes then was ushered to the exit. -That night, my eyes felt like they were on fire. On a scale 0-10, the pain was about an 8/9. - I struggled to find the after hours contact numbers because my eyes hurt so bad. I wanted to keep them closed. I called Dr. Cutarelli several times and left messages. He eventually got back to me. He told me to take over-the-counter pain relievers and go to my follow up appointment the next day. - I went to the follow up. Dr. Cutarelli did not see me. Dr. Kelliher saw me. Kelliher treated me for an infection with eye drops and put in bandage lenses that were the wrong prescription because they didn't have the right prescription in stock. - I came in for follow up visits, and Kelliher changed the drops. - After approximately a week and half, I went in to see Kelliher. My eyes felt like they were on fire. I saw Irina in the waiting room and told her what was happening. She went and got Cutarelli. - Cutarelli examined my eyes. He said that I had epithelial ingrowth and that I had to have a flap lift procedure done on both eyes. - I went and got other opinions. All opinions said that a flap lift on both eyes was necessary and that I risked flap melt if I didn't have the lifts done. If flap melt happens, then a donor for a cornea transplant is required. Epithelial ingrowth can come back at any time, even years, after flap lift surgery. - Irina called and was extremely pushy about having flap lifts done with them the next day. She had been pushy about the monovision, too. There is down time with flap lifts. Arrangements had to be made to cover more time from work and school. I let Irina know that Cutarelli Vision was never going to touch me again. - A different doctor did the flap lifts. It was torture. You lay there perfectly still, wide awake, with your lids pulled open with an eye speculum. They lift the cornea and literally dig in your eye and scrape across the cornea with a surgical tool to remove epithelial cells. Imagine holding perfectly still while your eye is being dug into. You get numbing drops, but you still feel it happening. It hurts. One eye at a time, different appointments, with several days between procedures. You see the tool coming at your eye but you cannot pull away. - I'm a tough person, but I absolutely lost it when I got up from those procedures. It's sheer torture. - What's the outcome? My last exam, cells had grown back on one of my eyes but not under the flap. They monitor in those cases. I wear multi-focal contact lenses in both eyes for presbyopia and reading glasses. I've had procedures done to deal with dry eye. I'm advised not to have anymore corrections done and monovision is awful. I didn't wear contacts or reading glasses prior to Cutarelli's procedure. Now, I have to wear them the rest of my life. Try running a farm in all weather and in the dark with contact lenses. I've spent thousands of dollars on care to get to where I am. - Had I been advised about the documented risks and peer-reviewed studies regarding older patients who've had a previous procedure and that other procedures would have been much safer, I NEVER would have let him do it. - I confronted Cutarelli over the phone as to why he didn't offer a safer procedure. He said, "Because it doesn't heal as fast." read more

Cutarelli Vision has a friendly staff and provides great service. They made me feel comfortable about the procedure, even when I was nervous. The price is quite a bit above other providers, but I felt it was worth it because of the Johns Hopkins training of Dr. Cutarelli. ALSO - if you get the lifetime guarantee, and for some reason Cutarelli Vision goes bankrupt (business gets sued, moves out of town, etc), this business GUARANTEES your contract will be upheld by another reputable vision specialist. Other providers don't make the same promise. Finally, when I asked about why the price was so much more than others, I was told Cutarelli has the most hi-tech lasers around. I was told that this company has the only lasers that correct night vision. ALSO, if I could find the SAME technology elsewhere that makes the same corrections, I am guaranteed a price match. Bottom line- the cheaper operations don't guarantee price match or guarantee lifetime contracts, regardless of the business remaining open. The others don't guarantee the best technology for the same price. Fix my night vision as well as day vision? This one does. Astigmatism? No problem! It was worth the piece of mind. I recommend Cutarelli. The 4 instead of 5 is only because of the price. read more

I canceled my appointment for surgery the same day that I made it and they kept my deposit. That seemed pretty shady to me. I didn't even get my eyes dialated or anything, no where does it say "non-refundable" yet they said it was non refundable. Little shady in my opinion. I would give them 0 stars if it were possible. I went in to get checked and see my candidacy for lasik and at the same time get contacts (in case things didn't work out with lasik). It started out routine until the, what I can only assume is, the nurse took me through the eye exam and could not get my correction to 20/20. No big deal. She asked another nurse or physician's assistant to come in and help and she seemed more knowledgeable. We finally got to a place we were both comfortable and she told me the Dr. would be right in. Once he got in he asked me why I was doing contacts when I was a great candidate for lasik (remember this for later). I explained my hesitancy and he understood and we moved on to getting me some test contacts to make sure I had the right fit. I went back in 4 separate times trying to get contacts that fit and or were correct to my vision. Once we got that correct I waited 3 WEEKS for them to send me my prescription to buy my contacts online. Yes, I did say 3 weeks! But wait, to make matters worse when I finally got the prescription filled, according to their numbers, one eye still couldn't see for sh!t. But if you thought that was good, keep reading. A couple of months later I went to another 2 Dr. to get checked to see if I was a candidate for lasik and both said 100% absolutely NOT! Remember what Dr. Cutarelli told me earlier... yeah, no! These other two Dr. explained that I have (and have had for many years) Keratoconus (apparently my eye is turning into a football...) and if I were to get Lasik it could mess with the structural integrity of my eye and could end very badly with the possibility of cornea replacement in the future! Bottom line, these folks are not only incompetent when it comes to contacts but even worse when it comes to screening for lasik! I would not trust these people with my pet bat's eyes! read more

The office is pretty, the tech looks new and both doctor and staff are friendly and efficient. I'll give one star for that. However, I was quoted a price that was more than $2000 greater than a reputable competitor (Hines Sight) and when I asked why, the doc gave an off the cuff answer about atmosphere ... blah blah blah, I stopped listening. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying 2 grand more for the same EXACT procedure (Visean ICL) then I expect you to be able to rattle off at least a few very specific reasons why you believe you're worth it. I was thinking he'd say "I've done this procedure x times with x% success" etc. ... But just a shrug. No thank you Dr. Cutarelli. I'm not looking to pay your rent on top of the cost of my surgery. read more

Beware the LivingSocial bait and switch! Cutarelli vision has recently been posting deals on Living Social claiming they would be providing a $5000 procedure ($2500 per eye) for $2300. This is NOT the case. When I went in for the evaluation I was told that my prescription was higher than normal and that it would be a good idea to buy their lifetime correction package (not included in the normal $5000 package). I have been evaluated for LASIK seven times and have never been told my prescription is high or risky. Next, I had researched Cutarelli Vision and had decided to do this deal not only for the savings but because they only used the latest technology. To my surprise (not surprised anymore) the bladeless flap technology that they advertise everywhere was also not available for people who bought the LivingSocial deal (the $5000 deal they talked about in the ad). This had been my deciding factor to go with them as a provider but I was told it would cost an extra $1200 for that (but they would add the lifetime plan as well). When I had the evaluation with Dr. Cutarelli himself and asked him what would normally be included in a $5000 procedure he said he didn't really have that information and that I should talk to the billing department (Nicole). The doctor actually avoided the conversation. His name is on the marquis. Really? Here's the kicker. When I asked Nicole why they had said it was a $5000 procedure she said she didn't know, she hadn't read the advertisement and that what they were offering was a base procedure which usually retails for $1700 per eye ($3400, not $5000 as stated). I couldn't believe it. After I pushed them for an answer they decided, out of the kindness of their heart to only charge me $800 more for the bladeless technology plus lifeteime updates instead of the afore mentioned $1200 extra. So, I already paid $2300 for a so called $5000 service that was actually $3400 and then asked to pay $800 more to have what was originally advertised. Sounds like a bait a switch to me. The final straw was when I was told I should just get my money back from Living Social instead of making it right and then being told no one else had complained. Does that make it right? Needless to say I will not being using their services and I would suggest you don't either. read more

My son had a large astigmatism (+0.5) which would be limiting to his future plans. We had a consultation when he was 17 1/2 to find out if it was possible to give him the 20/20 vision he needed to pursue his career choice. The answer was yes. We scheduled for after his 18th birthday and came in for another consultation, giving us the same outlook as the previous consultation. He had his surgery yesterday and noticed immediate improvement. We just came from the post op follow up and, in less than 24 hours, he is already 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other! Prognosis looks great. Throughout our experience, the Cutarelli team were professional, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and competent. My son's vision is of paramount importance, especially as he is so young with his whole life ahead of him. I know, I picked the best team for his surgery and I am so very happy that I did. I really do not have anything negative to say about my experience at Cutarelli Vision. I met a representative at the VeloSwap a few months ago who told me about a deal they had going on. I made an appointment with the rep for a Lasik consult and went about the rest of my day. I did do a decent amount of research before going into the office to make sure they were legitimate and had a good reputation. I found a few negative things but I most certainly did not experience any of those things when I went in to the office. My consultation went great! They made sure I was an ideal candidate and went through the details of the surgery and what to expect. I asked a ton of questions and the staff was quick to answer and explain anything I was confused about. Needless to say, I was super nervous the day of my procedure. I'm not a big fan of anyone messing with my eyes. lol The staff was incredibly courteous and very patient. During the procedure, they explained what was happening and what I should be feeling. I was probably on the table for 5 minutes and everything was done. I could see. It was really an incredible experience for me. I've been wearing glasses since freshman year high school and really couldn't picture my life without them. When I opened my eyes four hours after lasik, I could see the television clearly! It was simply amazing.... and the fact I can snow fly down a mountain on a board or skiis without worrying about my eye sight makes the price worth it. Lasik is expensive, but the benefits you gain, and the ten year warranty they offer, makes the money completely worth it, seriously. I just had LASIK last week and loved it! I was very skeptical as I've had glasses most of my life (35+ years) and was nervous of the long term effects. Dr. Cutarelli explained the procedure and I immediately felt calm and relaxed. I'm in my mid-40s and did mono vision done. I cannot believe waited at all for this life changing experience. My husband, My daughter and I all had Lasik. My husband and I had mono vision done (no reading glasses). We are extremely happy. My husband and I both had touch ups because it was a tad off. Monovision is tricky but DR. Cutarelli is by far the most amazing dr. If you go elsewhere you won't deal with a board certified John Hopkins Trained Surgeon. We highly recommend and we all see Dr. Cutarelli every year for our annual visits.. Had three eye surgeries with Dr Cutarelli. The first one was postponed due to a infection that landed me in the hospital. We the surgery was re-scheduled, the staff did not re-run the estimate from the insurance to see that the out of pocket was already paid. Dr Cutarelli yelled at my wife right before surgery saying we owed the money his staff calculated 5 months ago and it was our obligation to show we did not or pay. We pulled up records saying that we did not owe the money. We were quoted a price for the third surgery (out of pocket), and 2 weeks before that surgery, were told the price had increased. We had written notes of the price quoted. When we asked to have the price verified with Dr Cutarelli, there was no response. We called back in the day before the surgery, and were told that the Doctor's notes showed a price higher that was quoted to us, and we needed to pay it. I hope this last surgery is the last we need to deal with Dr Cutarelli and his office. His ethics are questionable at best and I would strongly recommend getting all information from him in writing. read more

Dr Curatelli preformed surgery Friday Dec 20, 2014 on my husbands left eye. We were told he would be having Lasek correction. The surgery went terribly wrong and Dr Cutarelli burned his eye severely. He went for follow up care with our local eye Dr on Monday Dec 23, 2014. The local Dr. said it was the worst cornea burn he had ever seen and he put in a call to Dr Cutarelli, and he received no response back. Our eye Dr was so afraid my husband would lose his eye or vision that he saw us everyday through the holidays even Christmas day. Dr Cutarelli finally called us back on Dec 27th, 2014 after I called the office again and demanded he call us, and Dr Cutarelli said my husband was a slow healer.What???? how about the severe burn. The procedure preformed was PRK not what we were told, we have written a letter saying we would like a refund for the life time portion ($300.00 ) as he would never have his eye worked on again. We have not had any response. My husband has vision worse than when he went in but at least he did not lose his eye. So, $1799.00 to Dr. Cutarelli, $400.00 to local eye Dr., $84.25 in RX not counting all the natural tears required. No response to our letter requesting the lifetime service be refunded, no check up with us or our Dr to see how his eye is doing. Our local Dr has been professional and not pointed fingers but has been a little surprised at no response or follow up to us from Dr. Cutarelli or his office. read more

Be careful If you are a new/first time patient to this practice. In addition to being charged my co-pay ($10), I received a bill for $145 charged towards my deductible. Although my insurance plan allows a yearly/routine eye exam ($10 co-pay), I was told by a representative of Dr. Cutarelli's practice that I needed to be an established patient, therefore, I was charged a 'NEW' patient fee. At the time of my visit, the 'NEW' patient fee was not explained!!! This provider was considered 'in network'... read more

I had corrective surgery on my vision this past Feb 14, and I can see better than 20/20 reported by my eye tech! The process was quick and painless, hence my recommending to co-workers since the surgery. I am happy to say that I left my glasses at their facility in the junk jar of the other customer's glasses! I had Lasik eye surgery 2 years ago, one was a mono eye and the other for distance. My eyes became infected right after surgery and my vision was extremely blurry for approximately 6 months. Dr. Cutarelli seemed very indifferent to my problem. He has a terrible bedside manner. The day of surgery he didn't even acknowledge who I was before he performed the procedure. I had to take time off of work because of the vision issues because I couldn't see my computer screen and it was like an act of congress to get him to fill out the disability paperwork. If it hadn't been for his office manager at the time I would never have been able to go on disability and let my eyes heal properly. I purchased the enhancement plan for 10 years. I was originally told that Dr. Cutarelli had to perform the eye exam annually for me to stay within warranty. The cost of these exams were never discussed. Then I was told that I could go to my own eye doctor and have the results sent to the office but it turns out that the office doesn't really like you to do that, so they rejected my eye exam. They do not take insurance for the eye exams and they $150.00 annually. What a rip off. I do not recommend this office or surgeon to anyone. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Cutarelli Vision-I'm so glad I chose here to get lasik done. I had mono vision done to correct my "over 40 vision problems." I started needing readers then in recent years I moved to needing progressive lenses. Soooo happy not to need any glasses anymore. The office staff was all amazingly courteous and helpful, including Brandon in the front and Dr Abbott. The procedure was so quick. I had complete confidence in Dr Cutarelli's abilities. I'm quite shocked by some of the reviews for Cutarelli Vision, but i do see that most of the negative comments aren't necessarily complaining about real issues, so don't let them sway your decision on choosing Dr. C for your Lasik procedure. I recently had lasik from Dr. Cutarelli and cant say enough positive things about him and his entire staff. Everyone I met was extremely kind, not pushy regarding scheduling or payment, and made a scary procedure go extremely smoothly. I didn't feel pressured at all to make a decision on the day of my consultation but since I knew Dr. C's credentials, and had a chance to meet and talk with him I knew I didn't want to look anywhere else. For an Dr with his kind of resume, the pricing is extremely reasonable. In my opinion, I don't understand why anyone would risk their vision and health to go to a discount lasik facility to save a buck, but to each their own. They were able to get me in that same exact week as my consult, which made being stuck in my glasses only for a few days easily bearable. Be prepared to wait for a little while on the day of your surgery, but anyone who doesn't have patience waiting their turn for eye surgery, should probably re-think getting it at all. I knew that if they were taking the time they did with other patients, I also wouldn't be rushed for mine. Dr. C and his fantastic surgical assistants talked me though the procedure which really eased my stress levels. The actual procedure is extremely quick and they have everything completed before surgery so you are ready to get out the door as soon as you are done. All in all from the front desk receptionists, to the surgical staff, financial coordinator, and Dr. C himself, I highly highly recommend Cutarelli Vision. read more

One of the worst doctors ever. Botched up a simple YAG procedure and would never come out to see me after that. Went to his practise at least 4 times since the YAG but he would send one of his minions and yet charge speciality fees. It took another year and a better doctor to figure out that the YAG had been partial. Even for all his incompetence he might have seen it had he bothered to take a look at his patient. Realized later that he has been sued before and has been punished in other states. Please do a google search on his malpractice record before deciding to go see him. read more

I was regrettably referred to Cutarelli Vision. Everything seemed fine at first, the office was nice, the location was just fine. During my visit with Dr. Cutarelli I was told that I was not eligible for lasik, but that I needed PRK because I had keratoconus. At that point I did not know much about Keratoconus, so I didn't think much of it and I scheduled my appointment with Dr. Cutarelli. Three weeks before my appointment I saw that I had missed out on a "living social" offer which would have saved me over 1000 dollars, so I reluctantly decided to cancel my appointment and take advantage of another place that had a similar offer as Cutarelli Vision - Thank God I did! During my evaluation at the new doctor, I was told that they could NOT move forward with Lasik or PRK since keratoconus is a progressive eye disease. If I had done PRK I would have had good vision, but over time my cornea would have become weaker and unstable and might even cause a worse condition, even a required corneal transplant. Stay away from this office, Always get a second or third opinion, these are your eyes!! read more

I give them a two because it is a nice facility and they were efficient and straight forward when I got lasik. However, post lasik you go in for an annual to get checked up and my husband got his eyes checked at the same time. He barely needs contacts and so doesn't want lasik, therefore they dismissed him. They were supposed to order in contacts for him we had to call them twice to follow up as we heard nothing. We just wanted to the prescription so we could order them, but no luck. Not even an apology for not following up, and the staff is confused. In the same day one called my husband back to schedule a contact fitting then another called to say they don't do them anymore, however, they could still not send us the prescription. They only pay attention to you if you do lasik because that is where they make their money. read more

I think the surgeries (yes plural I had to go back for an "enhancement") went as smoothly as they could of. BUT be prepared to be treated like a total baboon. Every time I went in I had to wait over 30 minutes. This last time I scheduled a follow up for a time that they offered me and that worked with my work schedule so waiting wouldn't be an issue. However the day before my appointment they canceled and it made me reschedule. I stressed to them that I had to be at work at 9:15, so they scheduled me with the first appointment at 9am. I had worked with my employer so I could be a little late to work however. So in an effort to keep things on time I arrived slightly early to my appointment. I was taken back pretty quickly but after waiting almost 45 minutes to see Dr.C I couldn't wait anymore. I told the assistant (who was super nice) that I just unfortunately couldn't wait any longer. She tried to get Dr.C and explain the situation to him but he instantly had a bad attitude. HE told me that if I went back into the exam room he would take a look right then and it would only take a moment. I told him if it only takes a moment okay, he then had a sudden change of heart and said well if you don't have time you should just go, I don't want to hold you up. I am old enough to know when power games are being played and that is exactly what this was. Thanks but no thanks. The rest of the staff if pretty nice but Dr.C always running behind and scheduling an appointment is to some degree a nightmare. I wish that I would of done more research and potentially gone somewhere else. I hate thinking that I paid over $4000 only to be treated like angry customer with a half eaten meal at McDonlds. If you need to exercise your patience muscles this is the place for you. If you have a job that requires scheduled in and out times... this is NOT the place for you. There were numerous other times when I went in for follow ups that Dr.C would talk over me and just throw out medical words and when I would ask him to explain what he meant the definition of the word was the word itself. He seems like a good doctor just not great with customers or how he has his staff schedule appointments. If you are considering going here ask what the schedule is like for all of your follow up appointments. If you are in Fort Collins it is basically 2 days a week, BUT ONLY when the moon is at its highest point the previous night, we are at 0% risk of a fire and the tooth fairy has visited your house within the last 24 hours. read more

I had LASIK in July 2013. I had a very high myopia (nearsighted) in both eyes. I could not see beyond 9 inches from my nose. I lived in fear of stepping on my glasses or loosing my contact lens. I didn't feel any obligation or pressure. It was totally up to me to decide if I wanted to continue. On day of my surgery it was very relaxed atmosphere. All staff was very caring and attentive to me. Dr. Cutarelli walked me through entire procedure. The procedure was quick and painless. Right after the surgery I could read the numbers on the clock on the wall. It was absolutely amazing! Dr. Cutarelli is truly an expert in his field. He is soft spoken and patient and will answer your questions and address your concerns. Dr. Cutarelli is a great doctor with golden hands. There are no words to describe how happy I am. It is a life changing experience. No more glasses or struggling to see something, everything is clear. Had LASIK done Feb 24th. Best decision I ever made. Been wearing glasses/contacts for the last almost 20 years. I have been scared to do it but finally decided to go for it. I went in for my real and they were able to get me in a week later. I was so excited as I had a vacation coming up soon. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The only bad part of my experience is beyond their control. My body quickly metabolizes 'Caine' medications such as the numbing drops they use. They applied them twice and I could still feel the speculum and the Q tip across my eye to assist my flap. I purchased the 10 year plan and yes even with the initial pain that went away shortly after I would absolutely do it again. Excellent experience! read more
