It runs like a 1970s poorly managed small business. Icon Eyecare is a top heavy organization with an inexperienced management team whereas technology is an afterthought. Unfortunately, Icon Eyecare's onboarding/training has been the least effective onboarding implementation I have ever encountered. Delays and gaps in communication during the interview and onboarding process whereas a week or more went by where I heard from no-one. The employee introduction that was sent out to introduce me to the staff wasn't about me but rather another employee. The Peter Principle appears to be in full effect at ICON Eyecare, with individuals placed in leadership roles without the requisite competencies to effectively manage teams, processes, or organizational growth. Turnover is rampant. Advancement within the organization appears to be heavily influenced by personal relationships with leadership, specifically Dr. Xxx, rather than performance-based criteria and historical data. Additionally, it was verbally shared with me by a middle manager that long-term professional success is closely tied to one's relationship with Dr. Xxx, and I opine that negatively impacts role stability and retention. Employment at Icon Eyecare hosts a very poor culture in that it is highly cliquish and gossipy, with inclusion and influence concentrated within particular groups. The mileage reimbursement rate is significantly below industry standards. 27 cents a mile will not cover wear and tear on your vehicle. With that, there is also criteria that must be met on the year and value of the car you drive in the field for Icon Eyecare. I was given instruction from my supervisor to stop driving when I hit my maximum mileage payout as the reimbursement rate was capped and I wasn't getting paid for the additional miles driven. Leadership practices at the middle-management level tend to lean toward a command-and-control (yelling and name calling included) approach, which impedes engagement, trust, and performance. It has been noted that techs do not need experience to work at Icon Eyecare as Icon will train them. The employees receive training and then leave the organization and take their new skill set where they are paid a fair wage and are respected. As a member of the growth team, I was disappointed to learn that my business cards as well as my supervisor's business cards contained an incorrect phone number for approximately eight months which directly impeded outreach and effectiveness. It is important to note that there appears to be a tight budget in that I was unable to receive current collateral to promote the business despite multiple requests. Once received the newly ordered referral forms, I realized I was provided the incorrect collateral, again, by my supervisor. The organization's extreme risk aversion to the Kickback Law compliance materially limits what a physician representative can reasonably and effectively do in the field and middle management doesn't understand the law whereas poor direction was given and a violation occurred. Organizational changes occur frequently and rapidly, often without soliciting input from those most affected, which can disrupt workflows and reduce engagement. Employees who raise concerns about ineffective policies and procedures appear to face adverse consequences from coworkers and leadership, which discourages constructive feedback and continuous improvement. In the eight months of my employment, I observed two CEOs and a Director leave the organization, all of whom appeared to be pushed out by a cliquish leadership team. This high-level turnover raises concerns about organizational stability and leadership effectiveness. Rather than investing in existing employees and internal capabilities i.e., CRM for the growth team or for an iPad in the field, the organization opted to acquire a competitor. Given existing operational challenges, this decision raises questions about capacity, strategic priorities, and oversight. My advice to future employees is to ensure that all employment-related agreements, job descriptions, and offers are documented in writing, signed by both parties and dated. In my experience, within just three months, I went from being offered a company vehicle to being offered a $1,200 monthly stipend instead, and ultimately was required to use my personal vehicle in conjunction with a mileage tracking platform and being reimbursed at .27 cents per mile. The absence of a job description and organizational chart limited clarity around responsibilities, decision-making authority, and team structure, which can affect onboarding, performance expectations, and overall operational efficiency. There appears to be limited responsiveness from senior leadership to emails from staff, which can hinder collaboration, timely problem-solving, and employee engagement. read more

Dr. Jennifer Grin is now with Icon Eyecare. It appears that she couldn't keep Colorado Cataract Laser & Vision afloat. Turn and run. I had an appointment with Grin in 2021. I sat down in the exam chair. The assistant touched some equipment above my head, and a heavy steel rod dropped down, smacked me over the head knocking me down in the chair, then the rod hit my arm and left a deep bruise. I jumped out of the chair quickly and got the hell out of there. I got disoriented and lost my insurance card. I never have found it. I still have short-term memory loss that affects my work. "Dr." Grin completely minimized how heavy that steel rod was and how hard I got hit. It left a welt on the right side of my head. Turn and run. She's only concerned about herself and not taking responsibility for her mistakes. She could care less about her patients. 6/17/22: Grin still hasn't taken responsibility. She hasn't paid for any of my medical bills. I still have short-term memory loss. Grin is just plain selfish, rotten, and runs from responsibility. 3/4/25: Still no response and they completely wiped out all record of my having been there. There's no getting out of it because the emergicare "dr" called "dr" Grin the day I was hit over the head with a steel rod at her office. I scheduled cataract surgery in their Lone Tree office a month in advance. I received a text message that my surgery was moved to 6am from 8am two weeks before the scheduled surgery. I could not arrange a ride that early and asked to reschedule. I received a date 2 weeks later at 10am. On the weekend before I received a text that my surgery was scheduled for 8am. I called to verify, and was told that my surgery was scheduled for 10am. An hour later I got a call that said my surgery would be at 8am?? I cancelled and demanded my money back. These folks don't have their act together. I recommend you do not trust them with your eye care. read more

I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams that I could see again, I mean really see like when I was younger, where everything was so bright and beautiful. Getting my 3D vision back, every color being brighter, clearer, crisper. Being able to see far, near and work on my computer, it is truly amazing! After learning I had cataracts at what I thought was a young age of 60, I decided to have a clear lens exchange with the new Light Adjustable Lenses or LAL. These are lenses that can be adjusted with a UV laser after insertion. They allow up to five adjustments, giving me flexibility to achieve to be 100% happy with my vision and clarity before "locking in" my final vision. Today I had my final lock in, and my results are even more incredible than I could have ever imagined! I was better than 20/20 in both eyes! Way more than I would ever need. I highly recommend these incredible lenses. I have trusted ICON Eyecare with my vision for over 25 years. The glue to ICON is Stacee Tran, who through her management style and company culture has created a team that has always made me feel confident that I am entrusting my eyes to the right hands. Stacee has been with ICON since I can remember. She is so kind and really looks out for her patients. Fifteen years ago, Stacee assisted with my daughters cross linking eye procedure to strengthen her cornea from Keratoconus. This procedure is still a success for my daughter today! Because I had the most wonderful, and superior ophthalmologist Dr. Seamus Martin who homed in on my perfect vision, and my most amazing surgeon Dr. Eva Kim on my team, I have the miracle of young site again. Dr. Kim specializes in many modes of eye surgery at ICON with cataract surgery being one of them. I always felt safe, that my long-term vision was in very capable, perfectionist hands. Her medical assistant Michelle did all my pre-op and verbally walked me through the laser procedures while it was happening which made me feel calm while I stared into the UV laser for my adjustments. Today I have amazing vision which will never change due to the miracle of implant lens replacement technology. Icon has lots of specials and deals, but as is everything, you get what you pay for. I spent upwards of $3,000, had to go through 3 surgeries, and still have to wear glasses today to see. I am far sighted, which I was told after my first couple surgeries, is a vision that can be resistant to lasik. Unfortunately that wasn't something made clear to me prior. I did give two stars as the customer service and communication was pretty good. read more

Do NOT go to this place. I had PRK done six years ago and it went flawlessly. Not my experience today. I was scheduled for a touch up today and Dr.Alexia canceled my surgery the day of because he/she forgot to give me proper pre-op information. I rearranged a lot for this appointment and he/she was completely dismissive and refused to take any responsibility for their mistake. The surgeon even looked in my chart and there was not any notation that she gave me the proper information for my surgery. I will be filing a formal complaint and will not stop until their license is revoked. Stay clear of this place. read more

I really liked and trusted the Dr I saw, however that is of no value after the fact, if issues are not addressed and you can't see as well as did before surgery. The Front desk is always very nice as they advise they will get the message to "Mary", and she will get back to me in 2 to 3 days. After leaving numerous messages over a number of weeks, requesting a return call from Mary, I have yet to receive one. Something is not right with this practice and I only wish I'd have read reviews first, instead of just going to the closest practice to my home that accepted my insurance. Huge mistake. read more

I'd always wanted to get Lasik, but chickened out for years. I really needed my scratched, abused & ill-fitting glasses updated even before we were in self quarantine and it was so frustrating. I had a lot of time to think about it so after a rough estimate on how much I've spent on glasses/contacts etc. over the last 10 years of chickening out.... I couldn't justify not doing it. Especially since I know we will likely shelter in place again soon. I had two consultations and both were very informative & competent. And day of, I was very comfortable with how they handled social distancing and sanitation there. The staff, especially the nurse that prepares you before you go in, super helpful and awesome. I came in for a lasik consult and unfortunately did not qualify due to a stigmatism in my left eye. Dr Kim told me about the option of getting an ICL implant and took my measurements and I qualified. I had the surgery done four days ago and couldn't be more pleased with the results! My vision is better than ever without any dependence of contacts or glasses for the first time in my life. The office communicated with me extremely well on my appointments and required use or pre/post surgery regimen. When I went in for my post surgery checkup Dr Kim was beyond happy that my surgery went so well and that I was pleased with the results. Dr. Doug Campbell was the surgeon. Dr. Litoff was without any empathy or care. Dr. Travis Whitt and Dr. Eva Kim feign caring but it is a thick veneer​ and as it turns out they were both dishonest and actively involved in the unethical practice. DON'T LET ICON TOUCH YOUR EYES. THEY HAVE FAILED NOT ONLY WITH ME BUT ALSO WITH MY EX-WIFE'S EYES. I've come to learn that even when they destroy your vision, they have no legal culpability unless you first spend a minimum​ of $15,000 to file a medical malpractice claim, pay a clearinghouse for an out-of-state expert witness, pay the expert witness, ... I am now a little over 2 weeks post op and I can't explain how amazing it is to wake up and instantly see! Dr. Campbell performed my surgery and he makes you feel at ease and calm throughout the whole process of the procedure. Staff is absolutely wonderful and try their best to make you feel 100% comfortable. From the receptionist to the doctors, they're all fantastic. Stacee and Enrique are both so nice and helpful. Stacee has followed up with me multiple times since my procedure to check on the wellness of my eyes. She's answered all the questions that I have had and always gives me the reassurance I need because I'm very paranoid. I also love that there is an after hours line you can call and speak to one of the doctors directly for any concerns you may have. I had an appointment with Dr. Litoff at the Lonetree location on 2/7/2023 for an annual eye exam. I saw Dr.Litoff on 2/7/2023 for my annual eye exam. I had him look at a growth that I had previously had taken off a few months prior that was coming back to see if they could remove it so I wouldn't have to go back downtown to the specialist and since it was so small. He said he was have their surgeon remove it but if it came back again I would have to go back to the specialist as I may need a biopsy done on it. He came to the receptionist desk and told them to make the appoint. At that time I didn't even know the doctors name he was making an appointment with for me (Dr. Goldhair). The appointment was 3/1/2023 at 10:15 am-I don't usually do morning appointment as I live 50 miles away and have horses and dogs to feed in the AM but they said she only does AM appointment so I made the exception. I get there and I have an issue with the prior appointment on 2/7/2023 as it was an annual eye exam and they charged me a co-pay and there is no co-pay for that so I told them to apply that co-pay to this appointment- they billed it out as a medical appointment instead of annual eye exam (I think they get paid more for a mediacl exam than an annual eye) anyway I ended up having to pay the co-pay and I will let the insurance deal with their billing fraud. I did report this to the insurance which is being investigated. So after paying I went and sat down waiting to be taken back. After waiting for 10 minutes or so they call me back up and tell me she doesn't to this type of surgery. I said one of YOUR doctors made this appoinment with her, you mean to tell me that the other doctors that work here don't know what she does. At this point she came waltzing out and announced that she was the surgeon. Her entire attitude was very condescending and impatient, as if she just didn't have the time to waste on me. Without even looking at my eye issue she said-I don't do that type of surgery. I said so you bascially wasted my time. And very arrogantly said "yes, YOU have wasted your time". Without any consideration that my time is valuable-more so than hers and the 1/4 tank of gas I used along with the 2 hour drive. In my opinion this is someone that is very full of herself. The prior doctor told me I have cataracts that will need to be removed in a couple of years-THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD LET THIS INDIVIDUAL TOUCH ME LET ALONE DO SURGERY ON ME. I wouldn't let her do surgery on a stuffed doll let alone anything alive. BEWARE!!! Here is the rest-I went to get the prescription filled for my new eye glasses and they filled they prescription out wrong. I called them and asked them to have someone call back ASAP as I at the place to get the presction filled and it's wrong. Not to my surprise NO ONE from that office called back-they only return calls in the order in which they were received. I guess it doesn't matter that THEY made the mistake on the prescription-they are NOT going to take care of ASAP. THata was on 3/1/2023 and they did not contact the place where I was getting my "New glasses" until 3/6/2023. Glad I didn't wait at the eye glass palce for their return call.. I am nearing my 1-month post lasik surgery that I had done at Icon Lasik Lone Tree, and I have to say it is the BEST investment, and not only in terms of finances. I've been waiting for my eyes to stabilize for about five years now and have consulted with other companies while I waited. Three of my family members has also received their lasik at Icon years before I have and have not had any issues with their vision. Additionally, my husband had his lasik performed at Icon as well over 15 years ago... YES 15 YEARS AGO, and his vision is still impeccable now being in his 40s! However, I chose Icon because I found that their prices were competitive and their customer service to be exceptional. Every encounter that I had from the moment I walked in and greeted by the front office staff, the doctors, medical assistants etc were pleasant and made me feel like I was a part of their family. In regards to the procedure and healing process, the procedure itself was quick and painless and was performed by Dr. Campbell, he was informative and explained every step before he performed it to help ease my anxiety. The post-op follow-ups were with Dr. Sturdy and Dr. Kovar - both were extremely knowledgeable, and you can see their passion for their work and that they genuinely want to get to know their patients and ensure their patients are receiving the best care. For those who are curious about the post-LASIK surgery symptoms, dryness is my main issue, and it is subsiding as time progresses. My vision has progressively become clearer as it healed as well. Please don't go here for surgery. I have never had such a bad experience anywhere. Never saw the same person twice, false representation of pricing, impatient doctors unwilling to answer questions, 100% do not listen or care. If you have any concerns outside your follow up period, forget about it. At a follow up (that I was charged outrageously for) I was trying to speak and was physically grabbed by a doctor for eyedrops in the middle of a sentence. When I asked him to stop so I could voice a concern first he continued to grab the back of my head and said "I need to put eyedrops in". I have been to the other office when I initially had my lasik done off of Mexico in denver, and I fortunately had dr. Campbell to do my surgery again. I needed a retreat in my right eye due to my severe myopia, so round two was just a quick appointment to touch up my vision. Stacee, the office manager, was there to help me navigate the building since this office is a little more confusing than the Mexico office. Downstairs is the surgery area while upstairs is where you check in for regular appointments. I was a little bummed that my favorite doctor is gone (NOOOO!!!!) but I'm feeling out the others to establish my new favorite. Dr. Campbell was once again very patient with my dramatics, and helped me get through the surgery, even though I felt it a little bit this time. What I liked best about my retreat is that they didn't have to put the suction cup on again, they just lift the initial flap. My husband also stated he got to see on a little tv what they were doing, and they even let him in the room with me. I still really like these guys and this new location is quite esthetically pleasing!! read more

Don't use this eyecare provider! Their staff is completely incompetent. My wife had an appointment 16 days ago and was diagnosed with a condition requiring a routine antibiotic. Icon submitted the prescription to the pharmacy without pre-authorization and the insurance company denied the claim. The insurance company stated that the provider only needed to submit a standard online form which all providers use. My wife called Icon four times to request the prescription and to leave a message for the ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist called her back several days after the appointment and she told him that she still did not have the prescription. As of today, Icon still has not resubmitted prescription or the pre-authorization form. Their office staff stated that they are waiting on a letter from the insurance company. My wife had to ask her primary care physician to submit the prescription and she was able to pick it up from the pharmacy a few hours later. In the meantime her eye condition has worsened. We will never use this eyecare provider again and recommend that you don't either. read more

Be very cautious when they inform you that PRK will recover in 2 weeks or so. 6 weeks on and still can't see properly, and when calling, you were informed that recovery could take addition number of weeks to months. From the minute I walked through the door to the moment my LASIK procedure was complete I couldn't have been happier. The process started with Stacee and her team of eyecare professionals first confirming that I was a candidate for LASIK. They then ran me through a battery of additional tests and answered each and every question I had regarding the procedure including "fitting" me with a pair of contact lenses for roughly one week in order to replicate my anticipated vision post-LASIK. This approach, which I do recommend, helped further guide me through my decision-making process. - - - In addition, I know that some of you may have concerns about the procedure, well welcome to my world!!! Went to Icon for an Eye Exam and Prescription yesterday. I was there 2 1/2 hours. They couldn't figure out my prescription. I had to get my old prescription which the INTERN then copied. I was not offered an option for filling my prescription. I called back the next day to try and get my contact lens prescription filled and was told my insurance didn't cover it and was told I have a different insurance than the one I gave them, BOTH UNTRUE. This used to be a good company, but now has new ownership. I would NEVER go there again. With the extremely poor quality of care and terrible customer service I would be petrified to have lasik there now. read more

I got PRK here and am suggesting my spouse also go, and I suppose I suggest you go too if you want the cheapest deal in town, great staff, and great scheduling. Had PRK for $1,295 (which they said probably will change price in 2017). This included free eyedrops, medication, and a prescription for Percocet for 4 days for the pain. They weren't annoyingly pretend-nice like one of the other Lasik places here that I scoped out beforehand. They work hard and get you in and out fast. Just make sure that if you are getting PRK that you research beforehand what to do post-surgery... basically lubricate like hell for the next 3 months. read more

I had eye surgery done in February 2017, and after I had went in multiple times because I STILL had astigmatism and wasn't even seeing 20/20. You guys had refused to give me a refund, and I couldn't get surgery again until after 3 months because of healing, but by that time I had gotten pregnant so you STILL couldn't preform another surgery. So someone told me to call back after I gave birth and to wait 3 months after breastfeeding. So I did and you guys told me that I could no longer get the surgery because I didn't purchase the protection plan and I would have to pay another $1,700 to do it again. First of all, it wasn't my fault in the first place that you didn't correct my eyes the first time, and second of all NO ONE told me ahead of time to purchase the insurance just in case I run into any issues. The person that I spoke with that told me to call after breastfeeding said not to worry about it and enjoy my pregnancy. So I basically just threw out $1,700!!!!!! That's a lot of money just to throw away!!!!!! Especially towards a company that perceives itself to be reputable. read more

Bad experience! First, overcharged me for a laser vision eye exam. I've never even had laser vision correction. Second, ran me through all the eye tests. Didn't even bother to check paperwork that I filled out saying I wear contacts or bothered to ask if I am wearing contacts before eye tests. They ran me through eye tests a second time without contacts in. They did not have a trial pair of contacts to try for new prescription. Had to order contacts from another place. New prescription that was provided to me was incorrect and way too strong. A jump of -1.25 in a contact prescription from the prior year is pretty bad. I started wearing my old contacts again. I went to a professional optometrist yesterday; he confirmed prescription was way too strong. I was given a trial pair of contacts by new Dr. So far no more headaches and I can see up close easier again. Save yourself the time, money, and trouble with ICON Eyewear. The level of customer service that I experienced at ICON Lasik was like nothing I've experienced before. On top of the fact that the location is beautifully designed with modern furniture, equipment, and technology, I was greeted by the happiest employees I could've imagined. My initial consultation was amazing, including the doctors, desk staff, and the man I met with about financing options. The day of my surgery, I was terrified. Shaking with fear. The doctor and two nurses behind him made me feel absolutely at home, unbelievably comfortable, and the procedure was quick and painless. One day later and my vision is perfect, and my eyes are pretty much healed already. In addition, they staff made huge exceptions for me because of a mistake I made, and they went out of their way to correct it. I would absolutely recommend my family and friends to this location- they have changed my life! Not to mention, pricing is very reasonable and affordable! Thank you ICON! read more

Prior to making my appointment for the free evaluation, I specifically asked the customer service/scheduler about medication prior to surgery. I have extreme anxiety with people touching my face and dentists have attempted using Valium to no avail (it has no effect on me, and I've woken up in two surgeries prior). I inquired about the ability for the surgeon to prescribe a stronger sedative and was assured that they would be able to get me whatever I needed to be comfortable. I proceeded to schedule and attend the evaluation (which was almost an hour from my home), cope with the normal anxiety I get with eye exams, only to be told they would not prescribe me anything other than the Valium they provide prior to surgery. I was told my PCP may be able to give me something stronger if I felt I needed it. Long story short, my PCP didn't feel comfortable writing a script for a sedative for a procedure she was taking no part in and felt that this should be routine for an eye surgeon who had completed 25,000+ surgeries and he should be fully capable of providing the medication. Dr. Campbell's comments, relayed through another doctor, was that no one should need anything other than Valium and he didn't think I should take anything if it wasn't going to work for me. So, to Dr. Greeley's credit, he suggested that this wouldn't be a safe environment for me with my high level of anxiety and didn't recommend I went through with surgery. I'm disappointed that an eye surgeon with so much experience didn't feel he could cope with someone with high anxiety (I can't imagine I'm the only one in 25000 patients with this) and I've cancelled my surgery in hopes of finding someone who is more understanding and focused on the needs of the patient. They've not only lost my business, but my husband and sister-in-law who were both considering ICON based on the experience I had. read more

I have to say that if you don't know what kind of tests you have to do after your surgery they wouldn't do it for you. They would do the simplest tests and wouldn't want to do the important tests that you should know results. (it's important it's your eyes!) it's been very exhausting to deal with them telling the optometrist do this/that test and i can tell they're bothered by it. I haven't seen the surgeon once before/after my surgery it's very strange concept. read more
