I was pleasantly surprised with this salon. I didn't have an appointment and they were very accommodating. As soon as I walked in, I was escorted to a room and had my eyebrows done in less than 10 minutes. The stylist was very friendly and did an excellent job on my eyebrows. Cute Tips Nail Salon in Kentlands has the best customer service of any nail salon I have ever been to. Just recently I contacted them because I needed an emergency polish change on my toes for a wedding and they were able to see me right away. The owner Hollie goes above and beyond what is the norm. Cute salon and nice people. They are more expensive than most salons in the area. I was surprised, since I got there, that the gel manicure did not last for more than a week. I thought my nails might have got with more oil. Last week they had a kentlands fair and I could not get there so I went to another salon and, besides the fact that the other salon is cheaper, my gel manicure is still perfect. They don't make your nails dry as long as other salons and I guess it might be why it doesn't last as long. So I will stick with the other salon. Nice people but not worth the money. read more

Ugh not again Kentlands! Never book a group appointment here! I booked a bridal party appointment a week in advance for 6 people at 1pm on a Friday. The MOB canceled so I called to let them know that morning and got the worst attitude...that should have been the first red flag. Come to find out, that was the owner and manager! I get to the appointment and the place is cute and smells girly with lots of pink everywhere. This does nothing for the atmosphere once you encounter the rude manager at the front desk. The bride-to-be was almost finished her French gel manicure when she noticed the nails on her right hand were cut crooked and sloppy. They were not cut even and she wasn't happy with her manicure. She said she was only shown her left hand and didn't pay attention to the right and when she tried to pull it out if the nail dryer she got snapped at to leave it in. The manager was called over and in order for her nails to be fixed, they wanted to charge $5 to remove the gel and another $40 to change the color. I can't believe how rude and cheap they were behaving! The pedicures were nothing to call home about, they felt rushed and nothing special. There are plenty of places in the area who include a hot towel and baby oil massage in their basic pedicure. $70 for crappy service and she still had to get her nails done elsewhere. I have just relocated to this area and was looking for a good salon. Although I was happy with the nail tech at Cute Tips, I found the manager to be very rude. I found a new salon yesterday. This is a terrific nail salon. It is relatively new, spotlessly maintained and the staff is friendly and efficient. They also remember their clients. I have had some of the best service ever! It's clean, the staff is mostly friendly, and they speak English. Other than that, it's just like any other nail salon I've been to. Actually, I think it's a little overpriced for the level of service you get. Or at least that I received. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, or I've just been spoiled by other nail places. The good: I called the evening before-after they closed, and left a message. Someone called me the next day, and I booked an appointment for a mani/pedi a few hours later. When I got there, the interior was cute, it was very clean (and I'm picky about that), and just like the other reviews said, everyone was speaking English. I felt great about my decision to come here. My pedicure was great. The bad: Does anyone else know that you're not supposed to cut your cuticles? You can give me the whole "all the other salons do it, blah blah blah...," but a simple Google search will tell you otherwise. Personally, I don't like it because it gives me hangnails. Big awful painful ones, usually at least an inch long (I'm really not exaggerating). So, the very nice girl is working on my nails and starts to cut my cuticles. Had I known she was going to do this in the first place, I would have asked her not to. Not thrilled, and she actually cut me to the extent that I was bleeding a bit. Not a lot, but blood is blood, and when she put the alcohol-based stuff or whatever it is they swipe on your nails before the put the polish on, it burned like hell. So, she starts working on my other hand, and I'm looking at the cut at the base of my cuticle, and ask her if she could not cut the cuticles on my other hand, and she stops and looks at me as if I'm stupid. She gives some excuse about it looking weird, which I get, and then the nail technician next to her makes some snide remark about it. i didn't appreciate that. I likely won't be returning. Other than cleanliness and the whole speaking English factor, there wasn't anything that really wowed me, and I generally don't return to places that make me bleed. But I'm sure there are far, far worse places in the area, and I know their schedule is packed, regardless of what kind of review I give them. read more

I've been to Cute Tips four times now, with a decreasing happiness factor. I REALLY want to love the place, as it is close to my home and really nice on the outside/inside. On the plus side, the decor is cute and the selection of nail polish is great. On the negative side, for a pedicure, I expect that there will be a decent filing of the nails and callouses. I get a pedicure every three weeks, so there isn't a terrible amount of work. I've found that the last two times the nails were not filed properly, and my heels are as rough as before. They always seem to rush now, and that may be due to the fact that they book appts. every half hour. Not really worth the $30 pedicure, which is sad. There are too many other places in the area, and I"m hoping that one of them is worth the money. read more

Cute tips nail salon, is not what it is cracked up to be. First off it came highly recommend from the restaurant next door - love that place (Vasilis). Walked in- smelled like some strong fumes, tips were only cash, and the lady walking around in her little 6 in heels (I think the owner) made me feel so uncomfortable. NO thanks on paying for her expensive nails. The nail techs didn't even give me a good pedicure, they don't cut down cuticles or shape my nails well. If I am going to pay 60$ for a mani/pedi I expect my appointment to be about an hour not thirty minutes or less! Also I want to relax when I go in to get my nails or toes done not hear the latest gossip about all the other customers in Kentlands. I will be taking business elsewhere. read more

Polish not painted to edges, nail surface heavily sanded down, poor leg massage...There was little to no attempt to try and do a good job and I feel like I wasted $47. I won't be back. read more

I don't know if it was the owner or whatnot, but the service I felt was mediocre and not gracious friendly staff. I tipped at the counter and the counter lady didn't even say thank you. I was extremely disappointed with the service of some of the staff, compared to the positive reviews I read on yelp. There were two young girls, one lady (I'm guessing the owner), and a lady who did my nails . The one who did my nails was sweet and nice however I had a hard time understanding her English when talking through the nail drying process. The only reason I'm rating two stars is for the cute interior of the salon. read more
