I hate to write this review but unfortunately the service provided was too rough for this to pass. Booked a gel mani and regular pedi. Was running late as it was on the day of the flooding. They kindly moved my appt 30 minutes later with no late free. They started with gel mani instead of pedi. You'd think the pedi would go first for them to dry and all pedi stations were open. But it's up to them so we did nails first. Im paired with Claudia. I asked for a milky white. We look through the ring of colors and choose one. The manicure itself was very painful. Claudia was quick and hard. I spoke up twice about the pain. As you can see, my cuticles are cut tf up. Every time she used alcohol or acetone, my hands were on fire. Time for polish. She does two coats of the milky white color. It isn't milky, it's streaky af. I'm quiet as I am waiting to see if she's gonna do another coat or what. She is about to go in with the top coat to seal it in and I stop her. Tell her this isn't opaque, it's streaky and frankly not pretty. Claudia says it the nail polish's fault that it looks like that....which I get....but you were just gonna let that happen? So I ask if we can change the color. She hands me the ring of colors again. As im looking through colors, she goes over to complain to a coworker about all of the above. That I've changed color, I didn't like it, it's the nail polishes fault etc. Mind you, they talking in Spanish in ear shot thinking I don't know Spanish (when I'm literally Cuban). I swallow my pride since I want this service as I have a feeling I'm going to be proposed to soon. I choose a red this time since it has a higher chance of the polish not being the problem. She starts to paint. The woman who she was complaining to comes over to ask for the ring of colors, Claudia says yes she chose a color. Her friend says are you sure? And they laugh. I tell Claudia that that wasn't cool and I understand what you're saying. She laughs it off and continues. On top of this RUDE behavior, look at this paint job. This is TWO DAYS after. The paint job is no where near the bed of the nail or the edges. It's uneven, lifting, overall a horrible paint job and cuticle work. She finished the mani and I say I don't want the pedicure anymore. I head over to pay at the front desk. And she stands there the whole time. I wanted to speak to the front desk about this instead of a review, but felt very uncomfortable with her there. I hate writing this review tbh. I want to support local business. This place should be ashamed of themselves, frankly. They had come very highly recommended when it comes to acrylic application and I have spent thousands of dollars over the last year going there with two different techs. Over the last month or so I've had several instances (over 5-6 times) where my acrylic manicure has chipped - I was gracious and always made appointments to repair them and I always tipped the girl fixing it even though they never charged me for the repair (it is their time after all.) After spending over $100 on my recent acrylic fill which included a basic color and chrome, they chipped after five days and they were not able to offer me any kind of refund. I am typically not picky and I am typically patient and understanding but it is insane how many times I've gone back for repairs (paying for Ubers to get there) when they should have lasted at least two weeks.. The initial application wasn't done well either - spillage over the cuticle (pictured) which definitely warranted a refund regardless of the pre mature chipping. I won't be back - save your money. Unfortunately after being a returning customer for 2-3 years, I have to drop my review from 5 stars to 1 for a few reasons, for the unprofessional attitude, overcharge, and injury! Just a tip- pay when you get there, before nails are done, because whatever price you are told ahead of time won't be the same afterward. They added an extra $5 for a "callus treatment" that I didn't even know I had apparently. It was a quick buff on my feet like any normal pedicure, except they charge an extra $5 without saying so. Tacky! Amy did my pedicure and she was rough with it and I had to wear a bandaid afterwards. I can't believe I paid an extra $5 for that. The receptionists have no idea who did the artistic nail designs pictured on their Yelp & Google pages, nor do they know who does artistic nail designs at their shop offhand. So I went with my usual girl Amy who told me halfway through that she hates doing nail design (I got a simple stripe design), and she got someone else to finish the job. She was blatantly talking sh*t about me to her co-worker next to her with the Frida Kahlo tattoo, I could tell by the tone of their voice and then looking at me. For the amount they charge and the "add ons" they charge, I'm surprised they don't charge to use the bathroom!! How is a cutdown on a fill an extra charge?!? That's part of a nail service. A fill turned into $100!? What do they expect when someone gets a fill? To just let the nails keep growing and not shape up. I'm having a hard time with Cuteticles. I really want to love going here because i adore their pedicures, but I've run into issues with allergies and pushback the last two times i've been. I've recently developed an allergy to gel polish so I have been trying to do exclusively dip powder. The two times I've been in for dip I've received pushback on using only dip powder without a gel topcoat. The first tech eventually obliged and only used dip. I had to come back for some repairs as the topcoat was lifting after about 2 days and the tech doing the repairs insisted to use gel. I told her about my allergy and she *promised* I would be fine and the gel is a better/longer lasting topcoat (I'm aware of this, but again..allergic reactions are something I'd like to avoid), and again gel was insisted. I'm currently breaking out in a reaction due to the gel used during my repair. All of my fingers are puffy, red and itchy around my cuticeles and i'm starting to develop small blisters on my fingertips. Really bummed about my experience with their manis and it's going to take 5-7 days for my hands to recover with topical steroids. If you have gel allergies, I'd avoid this salon. read more

Dropped a star for wait time, less than amazing customer service, and sub par cleanliness, but it could have just been a busy time. Other than that, everything was awesome! 4.5 Gotten acrylic nails done twice here so far. Once with Erick & once with Mary (I believe). Erick did a REMARKABLE job & it blew me away. I recently moved to the neighborhood and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I wanted a simple gel manicure- how difficult can that be? The salon looked clean and there was a woman cleaning the high touch areas which was nice. They do not enforce mask wearing as a customer was eating breakfast while other customer were around. This salon has poor customer service. A woman by the name of Abbey did my manicure. She wanted to buff my nails with an electrical buffer which is excessive and can damage your nail bed and I refused. She added multiple layers the gel nail polish which created a thick gel finish and is already lifting and the polish is lumpy with tiny air bubbles. Quality gel polish only requires two coats. She took a very long time to cut my cuticles and they look dry and terrible. This was a complete waste of $30. For ladies who prefer a simple gel manicure or manicure go elsewhere. Maybe they only specialize to acrylic.... After getting a proper manicure I feel so relaxed, there was nothing relaxing about this experience. Well I've gone to Cuteticles a bunch of times both here & across the street though I usually try to go to NYC since places there do a better job. But the weather was cruddy today and I thought let me go nearby instead; however the quality of this place has gone downhill if today's horrible experience is anything to go by. The place looks like it got upgraded in some aspects--the massage chairs for the pedicures look new. The place has a very strong chemical smell though so I'm glad I was wearing a mask, and the music wasn't soothing at all. I'd booked a classic mani & spa pedi since I'm going to a holiday party and almost right away it went wrong--the technician used the clipper and accidentally cut into my toe itself instead of the nail! I don't even know how you'd make a mistake like that. I yelped loudly because it hurt quite a lot and of course it started bleeding. She apologized and dabbed at it with a cotton pad but it kept bleeding and I was surprised she was just going to continue without doing anything else--I had to ask her if she had any antiseptic and only then she brought something liquid that said it was to help sanitize & stop bleeding on cuts and applied it. I had her apply it a couple times and later put on an antibacterial cream. They say they sanitize their tools but that could mean anything. Just putting tools in a UV box overnight doesn't do anything, you have to autoclave & keep continuously under the UV. I don't know what they do here. Thank goodness I had a tetanus shot within the last 10 years. Anyways the rest of the time was of course not relaxing since I was just worrying. Also after all that it wasn't a good job--very messy, the polish as you can see in the pics all over the place. When I went to pay the receptionist didn't even ask how everything was--I'm sure she knew and didn't want to bring it up (she didn't dare mention a tip). Did not bother to offer to comp or discount anything despite the injury they caused. Not to mention they charged an add-on fee without even telling me or what it was for, I just saw on the receipt--I assume it was for taking my previous nail polish off but no one told me beforehand at all about a fee or the amount. I don't like to make a scene and at that point I just wanted to leave and go home. I usually tip well but I did NOT this time--definitely was not going to tip for being maimed and the poor customer service on top of the $60 for the badly done job! I came to have my feet look nice for a party and instead it looks worse. More than anything I just really hope it doesn't get infected! I hear such horror stories of what can happen from a nail salon and the cut I see is sliced quite deep and still hurts. :( read more

People think I pay a little too much for my nails; I get a UV gel fill in $40-$45 BUT the quality of the service and the setting is worth it. After seeing the great reviews online, I took a chance and booked and appointment for a regular gel manicure. This was the most painful and awful nail experience I have ever had. Kim, the nail technician I was assigned, was kind, however the gel manicure I received was brutal. First off, it felt super rushed from the start. I've always had healthy cuticles so there was no need to cut so much into them. I could feel chunks of my skin coming off as I was sitting there. I have never ever seen a nail technician do this before, it was so bizarre. Not only was I left with horrible cracked and swollen cuticles, but the gel was so sloppy. I was left with bumps and bubbles on my nails. I now have to heal my cuticles because they started bleeding and are super soar. My healthy nails feel totally ruined. On top of that, the tools used were not sterilized, overall did not feel comfortable. I will say the customer service in dealing with this was great. After telling the front desk how I felt, the nice lady scheduled me a new appointment right away in the morning to get the color fixed, unfortunately nothing could be done for my cuticles since they had already been ruined. A new technician, Kimberly fixed my nails so well the following day, she was very good. Thank you! Overall, great customer service but I won't be returning. UPDATE: I called and they told me to. One back and gave it redone. The new manicure is everything. The key to Cuticles is selecting the right manicurist. Read the reviews carefully and choose manicurists who have been recommended. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MILY! This place was recommended to me because of the cleanliness and sanitation is stellar-the utensils are put into a bag after sterilization and taken out per each customer. The counter was clean, too. The technician did a terrible job as the gel manicure did not last 5 days before it chipped on 2 fingers and cracked on another. A 3rd nail dried with air bubbles. The polish was very thick (old?) and dried very thick on the nails. My first gel manicure was just one month ago at a different salon so I'm not so familiar with how the nails should look. But the first one lasted over 2 weeks and the polish was thin and smooth.. I didn't return to that salon because they were not sanitizing the tools between clients. !!They're not sterilizing their tools!! I've been coming to this salon for years. They charge more than other salons because they guarantee that every client gets their own set of autoclave sterilized tools. Today the technician takes tools that she used on the previous client out of a jar of Barbercide. The jar had gross sediment swirling around the bottom. I asked where my packet of sterilized tools were. After some hemming and hawing the technician told me they ran out of the individual packs of tools. Why didn't they inform their customers of this? I've had very mixed experiences here depending on the technician. Like some other reviewers, I have strong reservations (and suspicions) about the electric buffer used on natural nails. Do not go to this Salon especially if you are a new client! I recently booked an appointment with Kimberly R at the cuticles nail and spa located at 410 central ave in Jersey City. The day of my appointment I received a call 20 min before saying she was 2hrs behind schedule and that they had to cancel my appointment. When I asked why they were unable to see me that day they said they they were prioritizing regular customers over me because I was a new client. I specially was referred to Kimberly and asked if another reputable technician was available at the same time. When I arrived at the salon and went to the reception desk the receptionist did not engage with me and already rolled her eyes and glared when we made eye contact.I then proceeded to engage by giving my name and appointment time knowing that she already knew who I was. She then preceded to go talk to 4 other technicians while I stood there awaiting to start my appointment while they did nothing. My gut told me an empty salon with 6 nail techs not working is a bad sign so when the receptionist came back she already gave me attitude again and asked what I was doing on my phone which I told her was none her business. I told her I felt like they were being discriminatory towards me and she said why bc your white what she meant was why bc your black and after making that statement she felt the need to call the cops when no laws were broken just the fact that she was threatened by my statement of being discriminating against. To save yourself from having to go through this horrific experience DO NOT GO here. There is a reason why they only had two clients in this massive salon on a Saturday with 6 nail techs standing around. I arrived for 6 pm appointment and was not seen till nearly 6:30. It wasn't the fault of the technician (Francisca) the lady before me was giving her trouble and making her change colors x2, but someone else should have gotten started on me. There were plenty of technicians sitting around and on their phones. Since they close at 7/7:30, the francisca then rushed through my pedi and gel mani, hacking away at my cuticles and doing an overall sloppy sloppy job. I'm not sure if that was due to stress/rushing or that is just her skill level because she made a few imo basic mistakes. She's very sweet but I just didn't like the outcome (see pics). Do not be fooled by these 4/5 star reviews !!! It's only bc of a promotion for a free face mask..... I booked an appt online for 11:30 but got a text that said the specialist was waiting for me, so I rushed to get there early. Showed up at 11:15 and he seemed visibly frustrated that he was waiting for me. He asked me what color I wanted, to which I was expecting to be shown where they are to make my selection. I love Cuteticles...! It was the first nail shop I found when I moved to Jersey a year ago. I live 5min away from both locations located on Central Ave. and I frequent both. I've gotten my nails done from Douglas, Ana and Angie. Amazing work and very clean which matters to me most! Anything you want they can do, I suggest making an appt instead of just walking in as they are always busy. read more

If you want a good gel pedicure DONT go here and DONT get rocio to do it for you. I paid $50 for a pedicure that looks 2 weeks old, to have been stabbed with a cutter, and for crooked nails. I'm going to have to get another pedicure done cause I could do a better job than this. Waste of time and money. read more
