Honestly this is my go to place whenever I'm looking to get my hair cut. I'm glad I was able to discover this place because it reminds me of the barbershop I use to frequent when I lived in NJ. Sometimes it's entertaining to just sit in this place because the talks, conversations, and debates in this place are just hilarious. However, not only are these guys pretty funny with their conversations and debates but they are pretty skilled at cutting hair as well. Now I can't vouch that for all the barbers but I can speak for two that I have used before and they are Harold and Vincent. These two guys are the ones that I have allowed to cut my head and I'm glad that I did because they have done excellent jobs on head. They pretty much cut it just the way I tell them too every time. In addtion to the that their prices are pretty reasonable as well. I've been to quite a few barbershops but I'm glad I was able to find this one because it reminds me a lot of the one I use to go to when I lived in NJ. All that to say that this the barbershop I will continue to get my haircut until I decide otherwise. read more

Poor customer service and no talent. They are flat out rude. It's a miracle this place is still in business. I have been to this establishment twice. About a year ago, I took my 6 year old son and asked for a basic haircut. The barber gave him a mushroom haircut. It was nothing close to what I had asked for. I let it slide. I decided to give them another try and came back a year later. I asked for a mohawk for my son. I showed the older gentleman a picture of what I wanted. I asked for a small design on the side and his response was "I ain't got no time for that". It wasn't necessarily what he said that bothered me, but how he said it. I said, "okay no problem". Approximately 15 minutes later he called me over to tell me he was finished. My son's haircut looked half done. I asked him if he could take a little off the top. His response, "I already took off a lot" and then indicated that he wasn't going to do anything further. I told him not to worry about it, paid him $30, and left. My son's hair was choppy and had no blend whatsoever. I took my son down the street to another barbershop and had them fix it. The new barber asked where I took my son. As soon as I mentioned Cutt-N-Up he already knew who the culprit was. He said he has had to fix numerous customers' haircuts from that specific barber at Cutt-N-Up. I have dealt with terrible barbers before. This was a new experience for me to deal with both rudeness and a lack of talent. I grew up learning to respect my elders so I kept it respectful. LITERALLY the worst service ever! They should be ashamed!!! Ruined my son's hair and did nothing to clean off all the loose cut hair. Racist and most disgusting barbershop to ever exist. Most racist and disrespectful shop. The baber tried telling me my haircut is 45 since i told him I was first time customer once i called him out saying thats not true he told me the truth. Whole time he was being racist and making disrespectful remarks. Worst barbershop ever visited. First time I went in they were busy so I used that as reasoning for its poor service. Today went in sat waited for a barber to free up to get overlooked for someone who walked in after me. That bad business left me with a sour taste in my mouth in which I decided to just leave. And I promise never to return. I'm from DC where real barber shops exist. This shop to me doesn't qualify as that same welcoming sanctuary that invites new business in. I'll spend my money where I feel my patronage is welcomed. Maybe this is the culture in Nova but I rather drive 25 miles or more to experience the real deal from real barbers. This is probably one of the best and most Consistent barbershop I've ever had the pleasure of patronizing.. Calvin and his merry band of barbers do a spectacular job on your hair. They listen first and then cut. They are responsible for my very first haircut outside of family and friends and they have also The first haircut outside the home for my son. I went there a few times in the past. cuts were OK, but today takes the cake : I officially got the worst haircut I have ever received and I don't use that term lightly. Barber left some hairs longer on a side and too short on the other. Cut doesn't look like anything I asked for. I am beyond annoyed and I recommend avoiding this business. I have to go to work tomorrow with the world shittest cut, next time, I'll just stick my hairs a blender, the result will probably come out better. This place deserves negative stars, I walked in looking to get my cut and one guy says he can't do it because he's leaving early (I work retail I understand) but the other one asks me what I want and acts like he's confused. Says he's tired and doesn't want to mess my hair up and denies even trying to cut my hair while he instead sits down and starts watching the TV. I drove out to this shop in Sterling from Fairfax and I'm so happy I did. I went on a Friday afternoon and the shop was busy with people waiting, but I only waited about 15 minutes before Ray started me. I love the way my hair turned out. Seems to be a nice shop. Very clean, professional and nice atmosphere. As someone else mentioned, they have Madden going and a chess board set up. First time had me feeling like I was right at home. This joint is home to a lot of seedy people and sometimes shifty transactions. I went in and wasn't greeted though being a regular for sometime and noticed hair everywhere, the place has time way down hill since they moved locations. My issue wasn't so much the place but the barbers and their disrespect. I went in with a picture asking for a simple taper and he cut all of my sons hair off. No reason was given as to why. Had a great shape up and I love the fact they are open late. There aren't that many black barbershops in the area so I was grateful to come across this one. However I'm concerned about the cleanliness of this place. They keep the floor swept but the stations and other fixtures could use a good cleaning. This is a really big concern for me for a place that is using razors/clippers on my skin. But with a good scrub and fresh coat of paint this place could be awesome. read more

My 15 year old son has been here a couple times and it has been the worst experience of his life. He's been coming home with cuts on his forehead because the shape up razors are too sharp! They are also extremely rude! And they do not give you change unless you ask for it! And one of the barabers made a huge fuss just because my son moved his head a little, like dude it happens, CHILL! They've got great hair cutting skill but very poor customer service; I will never recommend this place for anyone and we will never come here ever again! read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!! There is a guy who cut my hair that works in the far right who cut my hair and screwed it up. THEY DON'T care about clients, and if you have been a victim of this awful barber shop go to FADE EM UP in Herndon,VA and they will fix up whatever harm cut em up did.
